“Good Choice for Intimate Dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

The Loft is located on the back side of the plaza near OSF. We were there on a rainy September evening so I cannot comment on the outdoor seating. The indoor area relatively small, but comfortable. Service was excellent.

My wife and I enjoyed our French onion soup, but did not care for the seasoning on the lamb shanks. Both of the other two couple, enjoyed their respective entrees. I would probably try it again, but have a different entrée.

“Food was good, space and service was not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

Crab mac and cheese was great! The layout of the space is odd...you basically wait to be seated where the food is coming up the stairs. We sat on the outdoor patio which was nice, but the service was odd. Not sure who was actually our server...think the hostess served us some of the time. They were not busy, so not sure why it was so off.

Greetings Argyle Traveler! Thank you for visiting Loft Brasserie in Ashland. We're happy you enjoyed the Mac & Cheese. In response to your comment about the space, we would ask you to please keep in mind that we are in a historic building from the 1880s, and are left with a very unique layout to work with. The good news is that this winter we will be doubling the size of our deck plus adding an all-season solarium dining room with more direct access from the kitchen. The hostess you mentioned is actually one of the owners, Jacqueline. Her husband Jeremy is chef. And yes, that night you had one of our brand new servers. We hope that you will give us another try when you're back in town and thank you again for dining with us!

“Wonderful staff - good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013 via mobile

The three of us decided to have a small meal before the theater so we just ordered several appetizers. We were particularly looking forward to the mussels. They were ok but not great. Everything else was very good. The deserts were Great. The presentation was very nice although the portions small. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely return next time we are in town.

“Glad we found it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We come to Ashland every year –but somehow had managed to miss this wonderful restaurant. We will now be regulars. Alex’s in the same area of the plaza has been a favorite, but the menu was very ordinary so we looked on and found The Loft. Look down the alley from the Plaza toward Ashland creek. We went for dessert one night and then decided to do dinner the next night on the deck. Many interesting choices for starters, and desserts. Other reviewers didn’t care for the crab mac & cheese- we loved it and it was enough for a second meal! Do save room for the cream puffs or gelato for dessert- divine!
