The Klamath Fire was raging in July and almost prevented us from going to Ashland. The towns of Hilton and Hornbrook were heavily hit one decimated. Mount Ashland is a famous ski resort- and beautiful in the summer as well. Scores of fire trucks from all over California and first responders saved the day.

Had two old dogs and SNOW TIME (huge ski area at the top) and off to play IN THE SNOW!!.............. Great fun for all, as long as my cup of coffee stayed hot .... I was knee deep in snow most to the time (think hip waders).

Wonderful views of the valley and a nice walk to break up the drive south or north. Don't forget to bring water.

I, unfortunately, missed the ski season on my trip as it closed the previous weekend. I packed a lunch and drove up to the area to overlook the valleys. What a beautiful view to relax but you can also enjoy a hike which I did not think of and thought it better if I did not flip flop around.

We hiked along the PCT at Mount Ashland and were treated to stunning views of a snow capped Mount Shasta. Three of us with our three dogs enjoyed a few day hikes last week. The trail went from soft pine needles to snowy patches in the meadows. Interesting and moderately easy for casual hikers.

This place offers some great trail riding with optional shuttle from Ashland Mountain Adventures. Some of the best trails around.

The alpine meadows on this mountain are spectacular as is the view of Mt. Shasta. Easy hike of 6 miles. Plenty of small wildlife & tons of honey bees!

Mount Ashland certainly lives up to their slogan. Skied with some friends during a winter storm. I would recommend going straight to the top. There are blue and black Diamond runs from there. Go for the first part of the day for best powder. Although if it has not been snowing recently you may encounter ice earlier in the day. Trails are clearly marked and be ready to turn turn turn or the speed you gain could be too much. The lodge while nothing fancy offers food ,drink and shelter also a small pro shop. One of a kind mountain, hit the slopes and have some fun!

My husband and I live about 30 minutes from Mount Ashland. We love to go up in all seasons. Winter is particularly gorgeous for skiing and snowshoeing, but its beautiful year round.
