We ate here on the recommendation of our vacation rental owner. The food was good, but the service was slow. We had salads, with fresh local greens, and sandwiches, which were good.

We ate outside on the patio. Ugly view of in attractive roof next door.

Dear "Arlene H.",
Thank you for coming into Standing Stone Brewing Co. and taking time to let others know how much you enjoyed your meal. Sorry to hear you felt the service was slow, but we hope you had a nice cool beer to enjoy while you waited out on the patio. Some folks try to focus on the lovely mountain view rather than that roof next door, but it would be nice if they added some plants or something, wouldn't it? We look forward to seeing you again.

Pause a moment outside Standing Stone, before entering. You'll see the coarse brick, huge open windows, towering ceilings, happy eaters - get ready for a wonderful experience. It's a big, busy restaurant with locally sourced foods and craft beers that we love, with the care and attention of a neighborhood bistro. And mission centered.

The Amaroticos, Alex and Danielle and Emile and Karen before them, are talented restauranteurs, They've taken what might have been just another brew pub, and made it into a community focused, fine dining destination. Local meats, cheeses, eggs, in house made breads, vegetables and fruits from the valley farms - the seasonal menu is chalked on a huge board over the kitchen.

Standing Stone is more than a restaurant. Employees are long term, and turn over is low. Sustainability is more than a marketing message, with bike programs, recycling, re-use inherent in daily practices. One Mile Farm is an amazing collaboration between Standing Stone and the city of Ashland, turning unused property into productive food growing land. Standing Stone is conscious of the community and supports our schools, writers groups, musicians and non-profits through generous donations.

Standing Stone doesn't just serve food, this place builds community, enriches our town and sustains our souls as it feeds our bodies.

This restaurant was recommended to us by Tracy of Bravo Tours and I can see why she might think it's very good. The food is all fresh and comes from a local farm or the coast. Flavour is obviously a priority. Unfortunately, we experienced two instances of carelessness that spoiled the overall experience. My partner had the tasty Black and Blue Burger but his accompanying sweet potato fries were nearly all burned to the point of being inedible and seemed to be mostly tiny bits and pieces. (People at the table beyond ours didn't appear to be having this problem.) Our Marionberry cobblers had disks of somewhat tough flat dough that had been almost uniformly charred and then covered in a lacklustre vanilla ice cream, spoiling the pleasure of the tasty berries. On the up side, my fish tacos were tasty and not overcooked, although I would have liked more of the green sauce. (Watch out for the searing hot orange condiment!) For $62.00 I'd have expected more attention to the cooking process. Our waiter, Trent, appeared tentative and lacking in knowledge, although he was very good about getting us the answers. We ate outside on the patio which overlooks the roofs of nearby businesses. Cooler and not as noisy as indoors but not particularly scenic.

Dear "piercesmom",
Thank you for coming and in taking time to write a review. We appreciate your specific comments as we are always looking for ways to improve. Your sweet potato fries should not have been burned and we would have been happy to address any issues you may have had while at the brewery. Our housemade marionberry cobbler is baked in our wood fired oven and can sometimes get caramelized in the process. We hope next time you come in it will be perfect. Thank you for your nice comments on the rest of your meal and our efforts to bring fresh, local, and sustainable food to the table. See you again soon.

While researching the menu online, we thought it sounded quite interesting for a "brewpub", and we were hardly disappointed. All items were fresh, well-prepared, and nicely presented.

I will single out the burger as exceptional. A truly great hamburger is surprisingly difficult to find, but Standing Stone delivers in a big way! Great bun, high quality meat, and cooked EXACTLY the way I ordered it...an absolute home run! For an extra two dollars I added garlic fries that were crispy yet somehow fluffy perfection.

And...I enjoyed the above with a lovely pint of the house amber. Nicely done Standing Stone!

We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from our hotel, the Lithia Springs. Standing Stone uses produce from their own local farm.

My wife and her friend started out with Cosmo cocktails, which were a little drier than they usually get elsewhere. Our waiter Michael checked in with the bartender and returned with a shot glass full of 100% cranberry juice, explaining that their style of Cosmo doesn't use any sweetened product, just juice. OK!

The ladies had fish tacos and a margherita pizza without cheese, since they avoid dairy. I had a Cobb salad substituting feta for the usual bleu cheese. All were delicious and well presented.

For dessert, at the suggestion of Michael, we had a hot berry cobbler, warmed in the oven, served with vanilla ice cream.

Our server Michael was very attentive to our wants and needs and the food was great.
