Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Owner description: You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

“Outstanding theatre choices”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Possibly the best regional theatre in the US. I'm biased I suppose because I live
in Ashland, but we typically go to 6-8 performances a year and are rarely disappointed.
Lots of fun non theatre activities without big city hassles. Great trails for running and
mountain biking, rivers close by, and many dining choices.

“3 great theaters”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

I've loved the Oregon Shakespeare Festival since I first attended in 1985. In addition to the outdoor Elizabethan Theater, there is the large indoor Angus Bowmer Theatre and a smaller more experimental space. I've very rarely been disappointed in a production, though sometimes surprised and the prices are reasonable for the quality. Sameday tickets are often available at the box office. Consider the Back Stage tour too.

Not only is the acting first rate, but the costumes, settings, venues are all amazing. I have been to many of the plays and have never been disappointed.

fabulous theater! Advance tickets are best bet, but sometimes last minute "rush" seats are available or a spare ticket may be sold in front of theater(s) by ticket-holder unable to attend. I've been to lots of London West End and NYC-- this theater company holds its own!

“World Class Theater”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Whether you're a fan of Shakespeare or not, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is one of the best regional theaters in the country, producing 10-13 plays each season (Feb-Nov), five of which are Shakespeare. A world class- venue with three theaters, one of which is a replica of the original Globe theater, make this a destination that has made Ashland one of the most popular tourist destinations on the West Coast. Add to your experience the beautiful Rogue Valley and the world-class hiking, mountain biking, fishing and rafting activities to fill your time during the day, a trip to Ashland is a real treat for all visitors who either drive here along I-5 or fly into Medford, only 12 miles away.
