Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Attraction details
Owner description: You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

We saw My Fair Lady and The Taming of the Shrew during a month-long road trip in September, and thought both were just fair. We see a lot of professional theatre and a lot of Shakespeare and didn't feel that OSF lived up to the superlatives we had heard. Oh well, live and learn!

We love Oregon Shakespeare festival. The quality of the Shakespeare plays is always outstanding, but the real gems are the non-Shakespeare plays and the new productions. Fabulous restaurants. Love the shopping, the eating, and the arts.

We went to the outdoor theater, It was a bit cool as the evening progressed. We were glad to have been told we could bring blankets. Nice play, as expected.

We just returned from a few days in Ashland to see Cymbaline and Robin Hood. Both productions were excellent. We had seen other productions in mid summer which were equally excellent. We can't say enough about the quality of the acting, sets, and costuming. On Tuesday evening it was quite chilly and rainy in the Elizabethan theater but the production went on as planned. We were offered vouchers for another production within the first hour if we chose to go home. But we had brought blankets, hats, gloves and our seats were under cover. We did stick it out and it was well worth it. Thank you OSF, quality theater as usual!
