Long a little-known fact, the nation's best actors aren't only in Hollywood and New York. A goodly number of them ply their craft at top-tier regional theaters. You won't recognize many of the names and faces at OSF, but you will enjoy superior acting and fine staging of plays that run the gamut from Shakespeare to contemporary, from musicals to drama.

We saw "Streetcar Named Desire" and can't imagine a more convincing production with stellar performances by leads and principals alike. It ain't Marlon Brando shouting "Stella" to the rooftops. It's better.

This was our first visit. And although we live on the other coast, I'm certain we'll be back.

As for pricing, it's no different than other regional theaters and far cheaper than Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. Also, since OSF runs several productions simultaneously, they'll let you switch shows right up to curtain time if seats are available.

The show was fabulous but we want to say a very special thank you to the house manager, Susan. She was super friendly, helpful, and willing to do whatever it took to make our visit the best it could be!

Good Shakespeare, top national talent and excellent replica of the original theater. Good acoustics. Seating is expensive and often sold out. The cheaper seats are often better than the more expensive seats. I had 2nd row balcony, while my partner had first row on main floor. We were both pleased with the view and the acoustics. Nearby parking is difficult, so plan to arrive early to find a space. They honor the AAA card for a 10% discount

I have seen probably 20 plays over the years at OSF, so this is a review of the overall experience, not just a specific trip or play. I was last there in May 2013, and saw yet another amazing August Wilson play. One of the things I love about OSF is they really work hard to present plays that are about a wide diversity of people and experiences. The variety of production choices/ set & costume designs/ casting decisions which we have experienced over the years is flabbergasting.

Unless you are just a really hard to please person, you will enjoy any production you see here. Be warned some of the plays are quite dark, because, well, life can be very dark. So, take care to choose something that is to your taste, and you will find very little about which to complain. the worst I've ever been able to say about an OSF production is, " Well, it wasn't my favorite/ the best OSF production I've seen, but it was really quite good."

This may be obvious, but it's not a great place for young kids. Teens quite enjoy the productions and the freedom you can allow them in this super-safe town though. It's a pretty spendy event/town, but if you've got the $ to spend this is a great place to spend it as it just goes straight tback into this vibrant, artistic, cooperative community.
