“Be sure to review plots before seeing Madea/Macbeth/Cinderella”

Owner description: You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

Highly recommend Madea/Macbeth/Cinderella. Saw 9/20/12. Be sure to review plots & main characters of Madea & Macbeth or you will be lost as three plays (Euripides’ ancient Greek tragedy (450 b.c.) William Shakespeare’s dark Elizabethan drama Macbeth (1600) and Rodgers & Hammerstein’s modern American musical - Cinderella (1957)) -- not only meet but mingle, and at times even merge, in a fascinating production. It is very active and superbly acted. I am a newbie to Shakespeare and I loved this. Don't miss the Q&A session w/ one of the actors immediately after the play -- look for the handwritten signs. Amazing!

We recently saw four productions, and were wowed by the actors, sets, costumes, volunteers. I so wish Ashland was a bit closer!

Fantastic political historical moving entertaining and educational. The acting was superb and the sets were truly amazing the multi media split screen worked perfectly with the wooden seating that smoothly transformed from Senate seating to church pews and into hotel beds. Go see it if you are able!

Over the last 4 years I have seen about 8 shows. The elizabethan stage is not to be missed. Sitting outside (can be quite cold) watching a show in that theater is a good time. The plays are from decent to excellent. I just saw Merry Wifes of Windsor and Romeo and Juilet. Loved the Wifes play liked Romeo. Also the back stage tour is amazing. It only cost about $15 and a actor takes you on a tour of all the theaters and tells what is involved. If you can, stay in a close by bed and breakfast and walk. Its a good time.
