Owner description: You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

We attended Measure for Measure after the play was moved due to structural damage in the usual theatre. Despite this last-minute change, the acting and directing were superb, and the contemporary interpretation made the play relevant. While I just had time to see this one play, I dream of a vacation in Ashland, watching all the plays performed in the season. I know that some folks fear that Shakespeare plays will be stilted or uninteresting, but this company clearly knows how to bring out the characters and highlight the humor. I could not recommend this theatre company more highly.

OSF always does a great job and this in one of their best.
Top talent in a fantastic production. Equal to anything on Broadway.
Don't miss it.

Ashland is stunningly beautiful with Lithia Park running right up the center of it complete with requisite trails and stream. There are restaurants that meet every culinary desire under the sun, cute boutiques, great coffee and a wonderful cinema. The best thing about Ashland though is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival where you can see 8 plays in four days. The eclectic quality of the work, the acting ensemble, re-invented classics and new plays, etc. all make visiting Ashland the perfect travel destination for theatre lovers. The theatre season runs Feb-Nov.

Shakespeare under the stars at it's best. - If you get the chance to attend a performance at this festival you won't regret it.

"The Imaginary Invalid" is an insult to your intelligence that would be an embarrassment as a high school production!
