“Another wonderful visit”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

This was the 4th visit with our granddaughter. Again, we loved it! And, we loved seeing how much our 8-year-old granddaughter has become adept at farm life. She loves collecting the eggs, bottle feeding the orphan lambs, brushing Paco, and directing us in herding the sheep. This time we were also there when the sheep shearer came. We all pitched in to help out: corraling the sheep to be shorn, bagging the wool, and helping reunite the moms and babies. Scottie is a marvelous farm tutor, and we always come away with a great appreciation for the work and dedication that goes into a farming operation. See you next year, Scottie! Chris and Nancy

It's hard for me to write this review because I want to keep Leaping Lamb as our family secret..... but I couldn't do that to Scottie and Greg. My daughter and I have been going to Leaping Lamb for 6 years!!!! Every year provides a new experience and offers new farm "drama" (in the best way). There are always fun jobs to be done: feeding baby lambs, gathering eggs, brushing donkeys, herding, feeding lambs and horses, etc. At the same time, the farm is spacious and safe enough that kids have some freedom to roam.
Scottie is a wonderful host, generous with her time, but not overbearing. The setting is gorgeous. The cabin is comfortable and well equipped.
Every year we come home renewed and every year I think my daughter (now 14) will decide it's her last. But last week as we were leaving the farm, she already was asking about our next visit.
I cannot recommend this vacation enough. Safe, educational, relaxing.

This farm is truly magical--nestled in a valley between evergreen covered hills, Leaping Lamb Farm was an amazing family getaway with as much adventure as you can pack in. The beauty of the place is you could also do nothing at all. My kids joined for the daily farm chores and loved it--brushing the horses and donkey, feeding the sheep and collecting eggs from the chickens. Or you can sit on the porch of your private cabin and gaze out at the apple orchard, peacock and pastures. Cabin has everything you need full fridge, kitchen, gas bbq outside. Comfy beds--2 bedrooms with queens and a pullout sleeper futon in living room. And a washer dryer in case you get muddy. Totally quiet. Grounds have Beautiful old farmhouse and barn. Lovely walking trails to a giant Merlin tree in the woods. We turned it into a multi day thing--it's a gorgeous 40 minute drive over to the Coast from Alsea. You come out at Waldport then can venture north or south from there.

Just back from our third annual trip to Leaping Lamb. We discovered it as a perfect half-way point between Seattle and Northern California and meet family there each year. It is such a special place and an unforgettable experience. My city slicker kids love to feed the animals, find chicken eggs, brush the donkey and horses, goof around in the hay-- and play "barn ball". The cottage has all the amenities and Scottie makes you feel right at home. Highly recommend a trip to Leaping Lamb for everyone! Jessica (Seattle)

We can’t think of a better place to spend a few days as a family. Scottie makes you feel comfortable and at home. She’s also very patient with the animals and the kids! The site is gorgeous and the nature is generous (wonderful forest, chanterelles, mountain…). We enjoyed every minute at the farm and felt a little sad to leave. We even named our son’s new struffed animal after the dog : « Guillie, Guillie ».

Wish it wasn't so far so we could return soon!

This was our second visit and I wasn't sure if my kids would still love it as much as they did 4 years ago but wow, did they ever! They love roaming the property, brushing the horse and donkey, chasing chickens and collecting eggs and herding the sheep. I had to stop them to eat lunch - no one wanted to sit still for that! They were outside from 9 in the morning until well after 6 at night and loved it. On our first trip, they said that they prefer the farm to Disneyland and that was still their opinion even at the ages of 9 and 10.
Scottie is a fantastic hostess and puts you right at ease. She was great at sharing the rules with the kids and responsibilities with them. The cabin is a perfect spot to with a really nice view of the fields. It is nicely kept and clean.
After two days I found that I didn't want to leave and go back to a "noisier" life... we will definitely go back again.
Thank you!

Our second trip to Leaping Lamb Farm was just as much fun as the first, we knew what to expect and what to bring. It was great to see Scottie and have full reign of the farm. My daughters aged 11 and 8 loved all of the animals, brushing Paco, hand feeding Boots, feeding the rams and gathering the chickens eggs. I loved watching the birds gobble up the bird seed on our deck and relaxing while the girls explored the farm.
We will definitely return next summer!! Thank you.
