The chow here is first rate and lots of it. In fact - too much. We had to stop going here because we always over eat here and it is a "gut bomb" meaning we suffer feelings of severe stuffing later in the evening.

Novak's is one of our favorite "nice" date night locations in Albany. With tasteful decor, knowledgable staff, and consistantly excellent food, it's not to be missed. The menu includes lighter portions, vegetarian options, and we've yet to eat anything that is not delicious.
A decent beer and wine selection, though nothing over the top, as well as several drink options. Full meals include freshly made (delicious) bread and herbed garlic butter (also fresh), as well as soup, garden salad, or (my recommendation) cucumber salad.
Not to be skipped is the fantastic dessert selections. The chocolate box is an excellent way to share a rich and decadent dessert. The tiramisu (either traditional or raspberry chambord) is the best I've had, hands down, anywhere. There are many other options, do peek into the dessert case on your way in!

For those with children, they have started providing a little packet similar to "bendaroos" that kept my young ones entertained for most of the visit. The staff is friendly and helpful with the children as well.

Pretty good, authentic Hingarian food. If you are open to trying new food, you'll like Novak's. Their food is rich and filling, so don't expect to walk away hungry.

They serve the best Hungarian food. Ignore any negative reviews, they don't know what they're talking about. I've been coming her since 2001. All of their food is amazing, cabbage rolls, chicken paprikas, chicken cordon blue, goulash (my favorite), fry bread with homemade jams, salmon mousse (offered seasonally), schnitzle, poached tilapia. I've had it all. Be sure to look at their special insert menu as they have seasonal items that are always prepared perfectly. They've got a great Hungarian drink called a Malna made with a homemade berry syrup and lemon lime soda. Their chocolate mousse it out of this world, and I can't pass it up so I've nevered tried any other desserts, but their refridgerated case is full of homemade concoctions. Even their Iced-tea is exceptional, it is sort of tropical tasting. Ignore the prices, which are $15 to $20 for dinner and enjoy!!!

Took the family to the sunday brunch buffet, it was a bit pricey, I think around $15 each, but it's all you can eat and just about everything that's on the menu is offered, so this gives you an opportunity to sample just about everything. The food was fantastic, as was the service.
