Jackie O's is a brew pub and restaurant which occupies two store fronts joined by a common back patio. One side is a more traditional bar that countains their brewing setup for their in-house beers and is a cozy, intimate setting. The other side is much more spacious and has a stage for live music. Between both you can order off their whole menu.

What can one really say about this place that will truly do it justice. It has an amazing atmosphere that just can't be beat. Their food is just out of this world - the crust of their pizzas is made from the spent grains of their brewing, and just spectacular. They make a point to source local ingredients which is very, very cool.

The Beer: I had to save the best for last. While they do serve beers from big name brewerys you know, by far, the real treat is what they brew themselves. I am a little bit of a beer snob, and dabble in brewing myself, and have had a wide variety of both craft beer and micro brew exposure. Jackie O's is doing it right. They are making some exceptionally stellar beers in a wide variety of styles that are out of this world. I just had their Screaming Pumpkin Sour that was orgasmic!

I cannot say enough good things about this place. If you come to Athena, OH - You are wasting your time if you don't spend a evening at Jackie O's.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was in this college town brew pub. We shared the fried cheese...ok but not great. But the Rueben on homemade bread was awesome. Corn beef is cooked in beer! The Rasberry ale(can't remenmber the name) made in house was very good. Light and not real fruity. Would definitely eat here again!

As another reviewer, we came to Athens just to visit Jackie O's. We went at lunch time and had what were the best Reuben's we had ever eaten. The corn beef was cooked in Jackie O's house brew according to their menu and it was very flavorful and best of all, really tender. None of the tough bits of fat you often get in Reuben sandwiches. Combined with thick slices of homemade marble rye, sauerkraut and 1000 Island dressing, just terrific. And we got to try lots of different brews with their $1.00 samples. The only confusing part is that there really are 2 separate facilities under 1 roof and not the same selection of beer is served in each section.

We came to Athens specifically to visit Jackie O's and it did not disappoint us. Outstanding selection of house-made beers and the food was excellent too. We actually ended up eating dinner and lunch the next day here. Realize they have a restaurant and a more bar-like side. They have separate doors separated by about 5 feet and you can order food and/or drinks between the two. They have a small kids menu and our kiddos were no problem; they even have a local organic chocolate milk for them! Check out there website before going because they have special beer events that can pack the place. It's about one block from campus which makes for a nice walk afterwards. Definitely stop here for a drink and some pub grub.
