“Food good - parking lot treacherous”
Reviewed December 4, 2013

Recently had dinner with my sister at Hil Mak's and have been there many times before. Enjoyed my dinner - beer battered halibut - super fish and sides. However, the parking lot was a sheet of ice.. Need to make sure the customer doesn't break a leg/hip on the way to or from dinner by spending a bit of money and effort to make the parking lot safe in bad weather. Will definitely not be back in the winter time til this problem is addressed. Too bad since the food and service are solid and consistently good.

“What a find.”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

Four of us drove from Vermilion Ohio to see the covered bridges and found this outstanding seafood restaurant. You would have thought you were in New England.Moderate decor but clean and well presented. The food,Service and price was unbelievable. Not expected in this little town of Ashtabula. By the way there are 17 Covered Bridges in the area. From the longest to the shortest in America

“Best seafood restaurant without going to the shore””
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Cannot say enough good thingsabout Hil-Maks. The food is always fresh and well prepared. They operate a fish market just next door and always have a large variety of fresh fish to choose from. The have specials on their black board over the live lobster tank. We have visited here many times and will keep coming back. Great big scallops there.

“Overhyped”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

We went to Hil-Mak with high expectations because we had heard it was a great seafood restaurant.
Sadly, it did not meet our expectations. We all ordered bowls of soup and could not believe how small they were. We noticed they offer "large bowls" of soup and now we know why. While most of our food tasted good, it was not great. And one of us ordered the scampis and what they got were just the large shrimp. When we asked the waitress to doublecheck on this order, she said that it was their normal scampi dish. It was not a good vallue for the price. The beer was cool not cold. The waitress clearly was tired and overworked. We drove 30 minutes to get to this place. We will not be back.

“Yummy!!”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

This is the second time my husband & I have visited Hil-Mak restaurant. The first time was for dinner and it was so fantastic, we said we would definitely go back. This past weekend we did go back, this time for lunch. This experience was just as fantastic as the first visit, and we will continue to return to Hil-Mak restaurant when we are in Geneva on the Lake. My husband & I actually decided that it would be worth the drive from Pittsburgh to enjoy their delicious and fresh seafood even if we were not staying overnight!!!!! When you are in Geneva on the Lake, do not miss the awesome experience of Hil-Mak restaurant!!!!
