“Cult Classic”

Primo's deli is nothing special to look at, but thats part of the allure. Primo's can easily stand its ground with any NYC deli, but luckily for us, its in the heart of Akron. The sandwiches are big and the prices are reasonable. Service is usually slow, but its kinda nice to just sit and relax. They have a large gas station type beverage cooler where they sell both single bottles or 6 packs of beer and a variety of pop. Try the Turkey Reuben or The New Yorker.

“Average food, slow service”
Reviewed May 22, 2012

We've dined here several times over the years, and have noticed a decline of food quality and waitstaff service. The servers are not in any big hurry to take your order, even when the restaurant is hardly filled. If you aren't ready to place your order the first time around, then good luck flagging down your server when you are ready. The food doesn't take too long to come to your table, but what's being served isn't anything to wow about. I had a tasteless Reuben (which they tout as "Famous") and my spouse's Tuna Melt was nothing to write home about. And to get our check--the wait time was ridiculous. Primo's used to be terrific, but they've let things slide over the years. Tonight was our last visit. Too bad they don't care anymore.

“Excellent deli sandwiches”
Reviewed March 13, 2012

Their menu states that they won the best award for their hot Italian sub. Once you try it, you believe it. The sub is excellent. If you like extra spicy, ask for a side of their hot pepper relish - you can also take some home if you'd like. The atmosphere is small but comfortable and perfect for lunch. Fresh chips are always brought to your table and the service is always friendly.

“FOOD COMA WARNING!”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

After 33 years, Primo's in Akron has changed little, and that is a great thing. Same quirky atmosphere and same fantastic food. Although their menu is extensive, on any given day, you see a huge majority of fellow diners eating corned beef, pastrami, reubens or a combination of the 3. . Awesome old school pierogies with delicious carmelized onions for an appetizer, and huge sandwiches which easily will double as your take-home/next-day lunch. If you're travelling and can't take home leftovers, then split a sandwich with your dining companion and order a couple of sides, like their wonderfully creamy potato salad and coleslaw which is hands-down Akron's best since the closure of Lou & Hy's. A huge list of beers at the door including many local microbrews. This is the kind of place where you go with people who are interested in amazing old-skool deli food with no thought about fat and calorie content. They're closed sunday and monday.

I've gone to Primo's a few times for lunch and it's been excellent everytime. The atmosphere alone is awesome! The food is very affordable and its always been excellent in taste. The staff has always been quick and friendly. I defiantly recommend going to Primo's for lunch or dinner. Just keep in mind they're closed Sun and Monday.
