Owner description: Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, located in Akron, Ohio, is the former home of F.A. Seiberling, the co-founder of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and his family. Completed in 1915, Stan Hywet is the one of the most important remaining examples of an American Country Estate built by the wealth created during the Industrial Age at the turn of the twentieth century, when the emergence of modern America made Akron the "Rubber Capital of the World." The Tudor revival Manor House is 64,500 sq. feet and the 6th largest home open to the public in the U.S. Open from April through December, Stan Hywet includes a 65-room Manor House, a conservatory and more than 70 acres of artfully landscaped ground. It is Akron's oldest National Historic Landmark and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.

This is one of the few house museums available in Ohio and well worth spending time here! The house is beautifully restored and has a fascinating history. The greenhouse is amazing and the many gardens are superb! A must see -also the site of the founding of AA.

This beautiful home is well worth touring as are the lovely gardens. The tours differ with each season and are interesting and informative. Ohio Mart held in the Fall on the grounds is a delightful way to spend an afternoon.

Stan Hywet - Built by the founder of Goodyear near the turn of the last century is an excellent example of an English Manor house. The gardens are extraordinary including the sunken English walled garden and the Japanese garden. You can easily spend a day here. The guided tour of the house is worth the price, and the gift shop in the old stables is great.
