“Decent prices but not the food”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014 via mobile

Wish I could write a great review, and only did give it a couple stars because the 4 kids in the group liked what they had! I ordered linguini with scallops and shrimp, they were good but pasta had way too much oil, very heavy. The two in our party that ordered smoked meats were very disappointed, stated it tasted boiled with barbecue sauce on it. This place might have good prices, but food not worth it.

“Very good food”

We loved the broiled scallops and shrimp. The seafood pasta dishes were a bit bland. Great service and good pricing. An enjoyable dining experience.

“"First Night in Hatteras" Tradition!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2014

This is our 18th year going to Cape Hatteras and, as usual, we continued our family tradition of going to Dolphin Den on our first night. Again, the "Den" lived up to the expectations we built up over the very long, cold Michigan winter! NO restaurants in the Outer Banks are fast because it's a slower pace there, but our service was prompt and waiter extremely friendly and helpful. We have to have OBX's best crabcakes, which actually melt in your mouth and taste just as good as sandwiches during lunch serving. They are accompanied by homemade cornbread and excellent homemade coleslaw. We also get a plate of decadently fried clam strips, which are the sweet tiny style and not the large chewy kind one sometimes is served in Hatteras. Every year, we try to save room for key lime pie, but have never had it! Everyone who does, however, sings its praises! Oh, well....there is always next year, We'll be back! By the way, I am a huge tartar sauce fan and love that they automatically supply each table with an enormous squeeze bottle of both tartar and cocktail sauce!
