“FRESH SEAFOOD, GREAT HUSH PUPPIES”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

This is our second visit to the mad crabber, worth it! The crab legs are plentiful and fresh, the hush puppies, crispy and tasty. Everyone was very happy with their meal, not crazy about sitting at picnic tables and eating with plastic silverware, but the 10 cent shrimp were also worth the trip. If your looking for good food and not a fancy place this is it!

“Too expensive for the quality and noisy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

We asked in the motel where we could go for dinner. They recommended The Mad Crabber. When we entered it felt like on the Oktoberfest as it was extremely noisy. If you prefer to have a quiet place then this is not the restaurant to go.
We ordered fish but in fact I felt a bit like in England ordering Fish & Chips, except that the price we paid was far too high for the quality. People around us were having fun eating the "crabbers" hammering on the legs. If that was good I cannot tell. If you want to eat normal fish, then this is far too expensive and not really good. Average for a lot of money.

“Fresh and Local!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

Everything was great! Corn on the Cob was from a local farm, Spicy Shrimp was great, cooked to perfection and heat without hurt!

Dungeoness crab was wonderful, a bonus to finding it offered to begin with! Service was great and portions were good for the money.

“Generous and tasty seafood, noisy room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

We vacation in Avon for a week every summer. Last year we ate at the Froggy Dog instead of our usual meal at the Mad Crabber. This year, after a bad meal at Froggy Dog, we returned to our usual haunt, the Mad Crabber. We had the Steamed Seafood Platter for two and an order of calamari. This was a lot of food for the three of us and we had a little of everything: crab, scallops, shrimp, fries, salad, homemade applesause -- the works. All of it was fresh and delicious. They provided plenty of butter and cocktail sauce.
Our waiter was friendly, incredibly efficient, and food came quickly. He checked back on us repeatedly throughout the meal, seeing that iced tea glasses stayed full and we had everything we needed. In contrast to Froggy Dog, we had plenty of crab crackers, crab picks and small forks to work with.
This is a noisy place, but it has a high enough ceiling that the sound of crying children (when such occurs, as it did the night we were there) blends into the background and is not oppressive as it was in Froggy Dog's low ceilinged tightly packed dining room.
This restaurant is simply, with paper tablecloths (on which to draw) and rolls of paper towels for napkins at the table. When one finishes, there is even a nearby sink where one can wash up.
But the seafood is incredibly fresh and the ambience, while noisy, is friendly and happy.
Our meal with 20% tip was around $75 and we felt it was money well spent. We repent our restaurant infidelity of last year and have vowed now to eat here every year from now on.
