Gimmicky is the word that comes to mind and perpendicular rock walls in the fairway are for what?

“Mike Stranz worst design!!!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2012

I played this course about a decade ago before the massive rain "washout" and redo. When I played the course it was a joke. Greens were ridiculously located with pin positions that you couldn't see, much less get the ball close to. Some greens were extremely small, some very large, and some shaped by an idiot. I have played several other Mike Stranz' courses and have enjoyed them. They are usually tough but fair. This course is a joke and a low handicapper will never play it twice, while average and high handicappers will probably shoot one of the highest scores ever.

“A different course”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2011

Tot Hill is a course you either hate or love. I am one of the ones who love it. It is very demanding. There are no holes to relax on. Some say it is gimmicky, I say it is a great course to see just how good your game is. You have to play it more than once to know it. If you're looking for open and wide fairways, you will be disappointed. But, if you are looking for a real challenge, you might just find your match at Tot Hill.

“This is a golf course?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 9, 2011

After one of my wife's associates recommended I play here, I drove down from Winston-Salem and was able to get on right away. From the first tee I could tell this course was not a traditional golf course. It is gimmicky and has no flow to the holes. I told the 2 guys I was playing with I though the architect was on acid when he designed this. Many shots are blind and on some holes it's hard to tell where the fairway is. Save your money. There are too many other good courses around North Carolina to play than to put up with one like this.
