About a year ago I ate at the Cary version of this "Corner Tavern" restaurant and was excited about the pub fair, until my burger that arrived. 12 months later, I'm at the Apex restaurant on a recent Saturday night. It was hopping with a terrific band and a casual fundraiser happening. The wait staff was doing a great job accommodating everyone. The menu seemed about the same as Cary, and I probably ordered the same Cheeseburger platter. It looked good, and cooked per request to close as possible to med-rare. However, it just didn't have much taste. The bake beans billed as smokey seemed over flavored with bbq sauce of sorts. Pretzel roll was terrific.
LOGISTICS: The restaurant is deep inside the sprawling Beaver Creek complex. "Corner Tavern" is the neon sign. Drive past Dick's Sporting Goods, get to the traffic circle and head into that section. It's near a Mattress Store, a AT&T store and close to another tavern and the movie complex. Broken up into several sub sections it also has some outside seating areas to the right and left sides. The area at night can sustain some noise of bands; and the crowd seemed mostly young and happy to be there.
Prices are very reasonable: $8.50 Burger and one side of your choice. We didn't try anything else on the menu. Beer was cold. Will give this place another try. Looks like a great place to hang out or combine with a movie night.
