“Family Friendly Burgers and Beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

Burgers are the specialty at this casual downtown sports bar/restaurant. The shoestring fries are good, too. There are four TV screens. The tables are chalkboards, and patrons are invited to enter a drawing contest by snapping a pic of their creation. The TVs, chalk, children menu and bar will keep everyone happy.

“Fun, local pub”

Wish this place was a little bit bigger and had more outdoor seating. Otherwise, great location, good basic food, and cold beer.

“Not bad...just so-so good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2012

With the crowds, the wait, the atmosphere, the ambiance — you'd think this is the kind of pub you've been looking for. And it sort of is. Very good service, cold beer, good beer selection, and a cozy but loud environment. But a closer look leads to two major problems, once that can be fixed and one that will be fixed. A large part of the menu is burgers. Problem is, the burgers are cooked only medium or well done, and really it's only well done. There's no juice, no flavor, and very crispy. You get a large, overcooked burger. What a shame. We medium-rarers know the rules will change any day now. With good enough meat, it should not matter. Now, here's the second major problem: if you want a drink other than beer, the well drinks are very, very thin. We were told the bartender measures the liquor. Are you kidding me? A pub bartender has to measure? We'll pass on that. This is the time and place to be generous. So, quick recap: order beer and without a burger. So while the picture looks so good and inviting, the picture just ain't quite right.

“Great little pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

We were walking downtown Apex looking for something new and reasonable and chose Salem Street Pub.

Our server was prompt and friendly, and offered all kinds of information. When she said they had the "best hamburger in the area" we asked her how many other restaurants in Apex served hamburgers and she laughed and said she didn't really know, but she was right about it being an outstanding burger. The patty melt was outstanding and the chicken ranch wrap a close second.

The menu was not extensive, but had a good assortment of options on the sandwiches and a few salads. The only disappointment - sandwiches come with fries and I would have preferred a healthy option instead of the fries but the only substitute was cole slaw.

They have excellent service, great food with reasonable prices and we will definitely return!
