La Blanche Resort & Spa
Ranked #3 of 53 Hotels in Turgutreis
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Just visited La Blanche resort in Turkey with our two grandchildren aged 8 and 13. The room we were given was perfectly adequate, spacious and very clean. The view from our room was simply stunning looking out to sea and position meant we saw the sunset directly in front of us, such a photo opportunity. Layout of the hotel, pools and bars etc takes a little getting used to as the buffet restaurant and main bar plus reception are on the 1st floor. So lets start with the food, it is buffet style and yes with many other European nations holidaying it tends to be a bit of a free for all. The food itself is very varied but very bland in taste. There are restaurant options included but on both occasions we tried to book a chinese meal we were told it was fully booked. the reason this gets booked quickly is the lack of tables available. I know its near the end of the season but the animation was lame at best, our 8 yr old loves to dance and sing but she only joined in once as she found it too repetitive. She was not approached to do anything at all on any daytime activity whilst we were there. Our 13 yr old was completely overlooked by this hotels animation and entertainment programme. There is a franchise within the hotel who rent out a pool table and PS3 game consoles on widescreens but be aware they charge £9 an hour to use the pool table and £5 an hour to use the game consoles. I asked the rep about this but apparently they can charge as much as they like. The bar staff working during the day by the pool work very hard and generally are good natured however I found the night bars are very good if your face fits and often you will be overlooked when trying to order drinks soft or otherwise. This is a platinum package from Thomson and has generally got it right for adults with exercise activities going on during the day. Cleanliness on the extremely slippery poolside tiled floors went downhill from day one and at the end of our holiday the childrens slide pool floors were filthy. Would I go again - maybe with a group of adults and not all inclusive unless food improved.

Checking in was straight forward and easy i.e. hand you passports in whilst they copy them whilst your completing your check in form (which you have to do at every hotel despite people complaining about, this only takes a couple of minutes to do).

We were told that we could go for something to eat or a drink whilst our luggage was taken to our room (3210).

We had requested a room that was disabled friendly and was given one which there is 4 on the same floor as the reception.

The room had a sitting area which could be another sleeping area where the wardrobe, safe and another cupboard was. The walk in shower bathroom was also in this area before leading into the bedroom which had an enormous mirror, desk, fridge (which was refilled daily with bottled water, 1 coke, 1 fanta and 2 cartons of juice) and tv.

The rooms had 7 electric sockets which is the most I’ve had in a room before.

We were given to room keycards we always left one in the socket which kept everything on during the day whilst we were out. We were also given to cards for pool towels which you got from near the beach area.

The pool is really big and lots of sun beds but these are very close together and some people moved them and don’t think that others have to try and get passed and I can imagine in peak season it would be really hard to get around the pool area.

There is a lift into the pool which is great for the less able bodied who would like to use the pool.

The pool snack bar was open during the day which they had toasted sandwiches, pre-prepared pizza, hot dogs, burgers and chicken kebabs, there was a small salad bar but there wasn’t much choice and it wasn’t covered up.

The jetty bar served snacks at lunch time but never tried it. The jetty bar had a good selection of drinks, bottled water in large fridges and a coffee/tea machine.

Plenty of beds on the beach but can imagine in summer this would be packed to the rafters.

The hotel had someone going around apparently taking towels off beds but I didn’t see this happen but did see some families claiming 2 beds per person (using 1 of their own towels and a pool towel to take up more beds).

The main restaurant was a bit chaotic as when you first walk in there is the bread and soup/cereal section and it’s a challenge to get passed people who are just either standing around doing nothing or trying to push in.

You always saw people standing outside the the restaurant waiting to go in sometimes 30 minutes before it opened, it was as if they hadn’t been fed before or scared that they’d miss out.

As with any all inclusive it can seem that there isn’t a lot of choice but considering that they cater for many nationalities who have different palates. There was always fish, meat, vegetables, salad, pasta or rice. There were lots of different cakes but would be nice to have a hot pudding, oh there was ice cream daily as well.

Breakfast consisted of numerous cereals, porridge, bread, meats, cheese, salad things, boiled eggs, omelettes, beans, croissants, bread.

The restaurant staff came across as miserable and slow to clear tables, a lot of them were constantly looking at their mobiles.

We tried the Asian a la carte but didn’t care for this as there wasn’t much choice on the menu but the Turkish was lovely so much so we used this twice.

The bar had plenty of choice of drinks but as it was towards the end of the season it was better to sit indoors on an evening and the lobby bar was always full so there was no were to sit and I think the seating needs to be looked at and when it’s full more staff needs to be on. To get to the bar you struggle as around the edge of the bar there is stools and you can’t get to order drinks.

There is a bar downstairs near the shops this had a couple of pool tables in and some table and chairs, didn’t use this much.

I have to say that the hotel is really wheel chair friendly.

The people who work on the customer relations desk worked really hard all day are were very helpful to us and went the extra mile.

The staff were always cleaning day and night and the gardeners kept these well tended.

Mehmet arranged for us to go to Bodrum market in a Merc and had a lovely easy drive there. He also arranges transfers to airport or anywhere else that you would like to go to.

You can walk into the town centre in 10 minutes which I was keen to try out from the front and back of the hotel as I push my husband in his wheel chair (the only down side to this is the dog wandering around).

I have to say that in my opinion the hotel is a 4 * and not 5.

The only bad points about out holiday was that our shower kept flooding the bathroom and had to keep making a dam with towels to stop this (but informed the guest relations and they are going to rectify this whilst the hotel is closed for the winter).

We went away for our wedding anniversary and after reading what other reviewers had put about what they got in their room for their special day had some expectations. The rep Danny even mentioned about it in the welcome meeting but alas we got nothing and after a day in Kos then missing our a la carte meal due to the trip then to come back to the room and the cleaner had moved our anniversary cards and taken them down, I was gutted.

The wardrobe in the room had a rail which was lower due to a handicapped room but because of this the rail went all the way across the wardrobe but just above the safe which only left aproximately 30 cms to hang your clothes (not a lot of room for 2 people for 2 weeks).

It would be nice to see hand sanitisers around the hotel especially outside the restaurant areas.

Tea/coffee making facilities would also be nice as when you first wake up it’s nice to have a drink before getting ready (we took ours)

I am still on holiday at La Blanche with two days left of our fortnight's stay. I will struggle to find fault because we have built up such a fantastic relationship with the staff. I have never been treated so well. There is nothing that is too much trouble. I am here with my husband and two young children and the animation team have gone above and beyond to entertain the kids and also to make sure we adults are having a great time. I truly believe that if you arrive at this hotel with a smile and a positive attitude then you can not fail to have a wonderful holiday. The turkish people have been more lovely than I could have imagined.

Our family suite is enormous with the children having their own room. The mini bar is restocked every day and is inclusive. The whole hotel is kept spotlessly clean.

There is 'crepe time', 'ice cream time', 'cake time' - it is a wonder anyone has any room for meals!

The main restaurant is enormous and busy and after a few nights the food, although varied, does get a little repetitive but I would expect this from a buffet restaurant trying to serve so many people. We have had no problem reserving a table at each of the four a la carte restaurants which have all been very good indeed (the turkish one being our favourite!). For lunch there are lots of options. I would highly recommend the Italian or Mexican for lunch but would avoid the snack bar (unless you love doner kebab).

The entertainment is provided by the animation team and I don't think I have ever met a better set of people. In all honesty it is a little cheesy but that has not bothered us and the kids have loved it - especially minidisco! I do feel it is important to mention that if I was here as a couple or with older children then I don't think the entertainment would have set us alight! For us it was perfect. I have to give a special mention to Dasha and Arzu - very special people!

There is so much to do here in the resort we have never felt remotely bored. We are here at the very end of the season but there is no sign of the team winding down. The town of Turgetreis has definitely wound down for the season though so if you are looking for wild night life then this is not the place to come in October.

All inclusive here means exactly that. Everything is included all of the time. We have spent very little extra. The boat trip and other excursions are of course extra and we were more than happy to pay for these as it was never hidden from us. Billy and his team who organise the Queen Boat Trip are excellent and we had a really brilliant day. Highly recommended.

We have LOVED our stay here. The only negative I have is that the pool is properly freezing. I mean ice cold. I'm sure in the height of summer it might be bearable but in October it is a chore to venture in. The hotel has its own beach however, with beautiful clear water at a much more pleasant temperature and lots of sunbeds. I think in high season it might be near impossible to move down there but in October it was perfect and we have managed to get a sunbed whenever we have wanted one.

To end, the staff here make this place magical. They are just out of this world. But, as with everything in life, you get back what you put in. We have come here wanting to have fun and wanting to be pleased. La Blanche - thank you! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room at the back of the hotel with a pool/beach view. The family rooms are eno...

This is the fifth time we have visited this hotel so obviously we are big fans and once again it didn't disappoint.

Great room, large, very clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay, cleaning staff exceptionally helpful. Great view from room looking down over the pool and out to sea.

All the staff we met in the hotel were excellent, very welcoming, friendly and good at their jobs, we were looked after very well.

The food was good, the snack bar had the usual luchtime snack menu, served throughout the day not just at lunch, the main restaurant operates a buffet style service with plenty of choice including salad, cold meats, cheeses, soup, hot meats, fish, pasta, usually each evening had a theme eg italian, turkish etc and much of the food was cooked as you waited. Plus a great choice of desserts, cakes and ice cream. Breakfast was also a buffet and included cereals, breads, cheeses, cold meats, jams, fried or boiled eggs, omlettes, beans, hot dogs etc
During the day cakes are served from 4pm til 6 and ice cream from 5pm til 6. Absolutely no chance of anyone going hungry.

The animation team were the only weak point of this years stay - nowhere near as good as the team last year and the year before. Lack of communication with guests seemed to be the problem, entertainment was on every evening but it was hit and miss as to when and where it was being shown and there seemed to be a lot more imported acts rather than the entertainment team doing the entertaining.

Having said that we had a great holiday, many thanks to Ozgur, Yasin, Serdar, Umit, Savas, Ayvas and all the other staff we met for helping to make our stay such a good one.

Will definately be back next year.

Just returned from a week's stay. Rooms very large with a sitting area. We had a pool view. Minibar in room with water soft drinks stocked daily. Pool very large with loads of sunbeds but we preferred sitting by the beach. Again loads of sunbeds and shade plus a pool bar that serves lunch. Food very nice but the large buffet restaurant is chaotic at busy times. Things not laid out in best way. Can end up wandering round looking for things contributing to the chaos! We booked a very special boat trip due to a commemoration for my mum's uncle who died in WW2. Mehmet and Billy were superb in sorting this out for us and the Queen Boat and it's crew were brilliant. Also enjoyed the trip to Gumusluk which is a beautiful fishing village about 20 mins up Coast. Again trip sorted by Mehmet. All in all a great stay and would happily return. Turkish people are lovely, thanks. Final word....the. Turkish bath and massage in the spa was superb!

There is a dilemma when choosing a holiday near an established resort. Do you want the convenience of being able to walk to the marina and shops against the more compact nature of the site and that the hotel is a few years old and a bit tired.

The hotel is probably the best in that area if you want to walk to the marina and it is not a bad hotel. Beach volleyball was fun, the beach is good and the staff are pleasant and polite. The complex is also secure and it is difficult for non residents to wander in. I also met a number of people who had returned from previous stays so it is not a bad hotel. Good mention to the animation team of Joe (volleyball) and Dasha (dance and exercise).

However, 5* it is not, the hotel lacked the quality and restfulness that 5* should bring. Sun beds around the pool are very close together, informal seating areas near bars are busy. Worst of all is the main dining room. There must be seats for 400 to 500. You enter through one set of double doors and the food is placed either side of the entrance on long serving areas. It causes chaos as people going in and out are side stepping people with food. The restaurant is also very noisy with cheap chairs. Fresh orange at breakfast costs 5tl. Food at all meals in the main restaurant was repetitive and of a very average quality. We ate where possible in the small speciality restaurants which are good but need to be booked in advance.

We have used Karia travel for taxis on two occasions now and both were good. £69 return.

Room Tip: Get room overlooking sea or pool, not the rear road. There are larger rooms available which have a s...
