“Great resort, showing that it's tired....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

This was the second time that we have been to this resort - the first being three years ago. The location is fantastic and we had a good time.

However, although the staff are friendly, the food's good and some changes have been made, like the sunbeds, this resort is starting to look tired and in need of some serious refurbishment. In fairness, we went towards the end of the season, but even the entertainment team seemed tired and ready to go home for the winter.

We did encounter the problem of inconsiderate guests, who seemed intent on shouting goodnight to each other - from opposite ends of the hotel - at about 2:30 in the morning; which is something the resort can do little about. However, receiving a knock from the cleaners asking to clean the room, before we'd even gone down to breakfast became a little tiresome.

Even though we never expect a comparible four star rating when abroad, unless some fundamentals are sorted out in this one, it should be considered a 3*** resort, in Turkey's standards.

Overall, a good holiday. Would we go back there? Not sure... and only if it was refurbed.

Room Tip: Make sure you upgrade to a room with a sea view. Well worth the extra.

Me and the wife have just had a weeks stay at this hotel,as with other people I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews, however you can only report what you find and what we found was very, very good. The hotel stands in lovely grounds with two private jetties and its own beach( a bit shingly but not as bad as it sounds). As it was the 1st of October when we arrived there was plenty of sunbeds and spaces to relax, we preferred the smaller jetty as the sea breeze was very welcome. First impression's were very good ,the reception staff were most helpful and had us checked in no time , we chose a select room and it was a good choice as the standard of furniture etc was impressive, the room was big with a large bathroom and big shower cubicle, also a smashing balcony which overlooked the bay. On arrival the air-con didnt work but within a couple of hours the hotel staff had fitted a new motor and we were up and running
The two things that matter to us on holiday are cleanliness, and helpful staff, here we got both in abundance, the staff were forever cleaning and they all had time to chat ,this may have been because it was towards the end of the season but it worked for us. the food was varied and well prepared and presented, I consider myself to be picky eater but I never went hungry, the waiters were very attentive and brought drinks to the table as a matter of course, I am unable to comment on the a la carte as we never got the chance to sample it, but listening to other people around the hotel everybody appeared very impressed.
All in all a really impressive holiday , in a good location (15minute stroll to the main town) with excellent staff, we are loking to go back next year as we would like to visit some of the area around here,(we did manage to visit Kos via the hydrofoil, well worth the price,16 english pounds return each , and also visited Bitez and Gumbet)

Its all down to personal choice but if you want a great value holiday in a lovely location you wont go far wrong ath Agean Dream Resort

Room Tip: If possible book into the select part of the complex, this gives you access to your own bar and opti...

Me and my wife have just returned from a weeks stay at the Aegean Dream. We were worried due to some of the reviews, but need not have. All the staff from reception to maids, waiters etc were very friendly and very helpful. The food was of a good standard for all inclusive and we always found plenty of choice. The a la carte restaurants are worth a go, especially the Turkish and Italian, both were excellent. We stayed in a Select room (702) which was spotlessly clean and towels changed daily. We had a stunning sea view and were in fact about 100 feet from the sea. Our balcony had 2 wooden chairs and a small wooden table, and it was nice to enjoy a nightcap there looking out to sea before going to bed. The one area the hotel could look at is the entertainment, which wasn't that great apart from the Turkish night complete with belly dancer.
We intend to go back again next year and stay for 10 nights. All in all this is a value for money hotel and I would not hesitate to recommend it. Oh and do try the spa, we got a package of 5 massages each for £200.

Room Tip: We didn't see the standard rooms but I would recommend going for a select room, they are worth t...

This is a factual review from a disabled travellers point of view, i can walk but not great distances and cannot cope with stairs.
Upon arrival at 1 in the morning reception staff could not speak english although subsequent calls at reception english speakers were sometimes there.I had booked an upgrade room, which was not detailed in brochure as separate building-if you are totally wheelchair dependent ensure not a ground floor room as from the ground floor there is a silly ramp which wheelchairs cannot cope with or steps to surroundings,.the lift is so tiny you can just squeeze the wheelchair in but no other people-you then proceed to the first floor, along a long corridoor to outside on an overhead ramp which is above the ampitheater, it goes up and then down the other side, i am strong but could not get up this ramp without help.the upgrade rooms are very nice, kept clean and tidy, free safe, just outside there is a pool=always very cold, above top floor selective bar-across the pool and path a select restaurant where you could have lunch outside on the side of the one of 2 jetties-flood very nice always freshly cooked and served by Abdull who wanted a rich lady friend!-but very helpful.
Having booked an upgrade ensure you book as many evening meals as possible in the a la carte restarants-we thought you had to book each day and when we found out some people had booked 5 or 6 days in advance we could only get one night in the select, we didnt want a meal in the italian, turkish or fish restaurants-so ended up in the main restaurant for breakfast-very boring with eggs, eggs or more eggs, with turkish sausage in a tomato sauce, or croissants, plenty of cold meats, salad, or breads, and jams and cereals-so a fair choice, outside, fried eggs or omelette or pancakesMain meals at lunch were similar to evening meals-potatoes in a sauce, chips, meats in sauces, salads, etc followed by a choice of sweets, what was lacking was plain foods and hot plain veg.The main restaurant was served with staff who were sometimes slow at cleaning the tables and resetting utensils, which is why many upgraders went for the a la carte meals.
Other plus points-free banana boat trips, plenty of drink choice, free bottles of water in cool units, afternoon snacks and cakes afternoons aswell.Negative points, the hotel was big, some shows were a farce, a snake and iguana show turned out to be a photo shoot, with silly girls screaming when their photo was taken-we left-poor iguana, also on beach next day was a pirate dress up again to photo residents with parrots, not my idea of a show, some shows a complicated travesty of points awarded for songs-when translated into 5 languages it loses a lot and becomes a bore.
Positive point-Cheby the thompson rep just brilliant, got a main lift sorted within 20 minutes.
Went to afternoon donkey safari-ok, you saw the real turky, and people, donkleys, fine, saw turtles in a lake, meal at end was fine, also did sundowner boat trip, again just nice with bodrum lights, again food good, although the walks down 2 jettys, there and back were nearly too much for meProbably not go there again, although there were loads of sunbeads outside and more than ample comfy furniture inside, just because of its size and the food, good value for money but part of our holiday would be food, not plain enoug for us.

Room Tip: Go for upgrade if mobile but insist on not ground floor-no privacy

In September my wife and I enjoyed our tenth visit to this our favourite Hotel. The staff has seen some changes since last year but they are still very polite and attentive and willing to help at all times as has always been the custom. The cleaning staff work extremely hard and daily clean rooms and change towels. The ongoing refurbishment programme is progressing yearly and rather than close the complete Hotel down for this it is carried out at the end of the summer season. This year apart from replacing many room floors, extra sunbeds were evident and so it was easy to obtain one generally speaking wherever we wanted. The management are always available to be contacted if anyone has complaints, and I find it hard to believe that it seems many guests who feel they have a complaint wait until they return home before raising it on a review. This means that the Hotel staff are unable to reply or indeed tackle the problem at the time it arises. I find this cowardly as I know Mr. Yusuf Gunaydin (General Manager) is available six days out of seven and can generally be found in the pool area if not in his office. Likewise Mr. Goksun Alay (Reception manager) is always available in his office to the left of the entrance doors. Any problems in the resturants can be directed at Mr. Morat Akar who I know is very approachable and too willing to help. Many guests we meet are repeat customers and this surely shows the Hotel is still doing things right. Yes it is now 8 years old at least, but with the ongoing refurbishment programme it will no doubt keep up with modern trends. Whilst we were there the Hotel Owner himself with his wife and family were in residence and ate in the resturants which we ate in which shows things are not as bad as some reviewers paint. I honestly believe that some guests go on holiday merely to make complaints so they can claim compensation from their travel companies. An example is that whilst awaiting the lift one evening a middleaged English couple who had arrived at the Hotel some two hours earlier, struck up a conversation with me by immediately complaining about the impolite staff and the dowdy room they had been given. They made it clear they usually go to Oley Deniz and how things were much better there. I immediately bit my tongue as the obvious reply was why didn't you go there this year. Instead I said" Madam you have been travelling all day and are very tired, no doubt after a good nights sleep you will feel better". She replied," We should have gone back to Oley Deniz." I made no reply, but no doubt she complained bitterly when she arrived back in England but didn't approach management which was the obvious thing to do so the problems could have been sorted out. I have no doubt all Hotels have to put up with this type of practice for which they are unable to reply. I know the management team at this Hotel (as do many other return guests) and they always try to solve problems if consulted. The animation team under the management of Morad still work extremely hard entertaining the guests all day and night and it was pleasing this year to see a change in the show programmes in the Amphitheatre which were very enjoyable.Especially the Fire Show in which many guests took part and was quite spectacular. Well done to them.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday again and we are looking forward to next year for a further return visit.

We thought the location was really beautiful. Our room was comfortable and the sea view lovely. The walkway in to Turgutreis was very nice, it took about 15 minutes and was worth a walk round. Our room could have been cleaned a little better but was ok. The food in the buffet was fairly good with a reasonable choice. We thought the restaurants were not really worth the trouble of booking, the Turkish was the best. It is not 5 star but probably could be. We were told by regulars that the staff had been cut back on. We both had a bit of tummy trouble, my husband for most of the stay as did a few people that we spoke to. Doubt we will return which is a shame as it could have been so much better. Entertainment was mediocre. Bars ok.

Room Tip: The sea view superior rooms do differ. There are some with hot tubs, ours had a shower. There is a p...
