“Excellent value half board hotel”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Brilliant little hotel. Nothing special or over the top but absolutely great value for money. Half board option good food for the price. Small ish rooms but clean and tidy. Ones looking out over the front are lovely. Great owners who remember you if you return!

My review is based on the experience and price of what we paid for, we are always out and use hotel as a base for our trips, if you plan to stay in your hotel everyday, go for a 5 or 4 star all inclusive, as for rooms as long as it is clean and the bathroom is functional with no health hazard is fine (you don't spend a lot of time in the loo), it is not a 5 star hotel but it is more than enough for what we expected, we only wanted a bed to sleep, shower, a coffee and a plate of breakfast, so much that you can help yourself with different variety of bread, egg, cheese, fresh veg, olives, hot and cold drinks...and yes we loved everything about it, that is turkish breakfast. Our room is on the rooftop with fantastic views, clean towels, sheets and if we need something we just ask, we never bother the cleaning lady as we do not make a mess unless the sheets need changing, we throw our own rubbish and leave used towels outside, hot and cold shower yesssss, any time of the day, bathroom is old but clean, I have seen worse back home for an extortionate rate. There is no lift and laundry room is in the same floor but it never bothered us and the same as the other guests in the other rooms which are regular guests every year, some 2, some 3 weeks and its amazing everyone we met are so chilled, no bother at all, lots of us and fully booked, and I can say we all had a good holiday and made us feel comfortable. Staff are very good, friendly, polite and helpful, always greet us especially the owner Zehra, made sure we had a sunbed by the beach and brought new ones when she saw us lying on a cushion straight away, we will never forget that, those small things matters a great deal to us knowing that she is very busy and find time to care. Chef is very good, we had most of our meals there, delicious, freshly cooked and for us its cheap compared to what you pay in any restaurant unless you want a specialty dish. I cannot understand how some people value what they pay for and expectation when they go on holiday, read and explore to have an idea, set a budget, don't expect, priorities and purpose of your holiday, be open minded in culture and ways how they live, respect and never let small things ruin your holiday. No matter what hotel ratings you go there will always be something that any one to complain for. We travelled different parts of Turkey for the last 3 years (another trip soon) and the costs are rising year on, depends what part of the region and its worth remembering before we book our hotel and what's on offer.
We want to thank you very much Zehra for making us feel at home and the special touch of flower you gave me, Mr Ali for driving us to the port without any notice, Ezra a lovely receptionist, thank you very much for your attentive help on our nearly missed trip to Kos and to all the staff, Hakan, Barish and Yunus for the fantastic, perfect and lovely holiday. Have a busy season. We will be back again, best wishes.

Room Tip: Top floor...fantastic panoramic view

I stayed here with my son, 8 years, and my best friend, her husband and their son, who was 7 at the time. We have a truely wonderful time and the boys were not bored in the slightest, and happy children make happy parents. The hotel is small yet very friendly and clean, slighty tired in places, mainly in the bathrooms but what do you expect for the price! The position and views more than make up for any of the rough edges. The food was not too varied but all very tasty and we did have a slight variations on breakfast and dinner each evening. The fact my son ate everyday was a testiment to the food as he can be fussy and he always found something he liked! The location right on the private beach could not be better, waking up to the wall to wall blue sky and watching it set in the bar was a real treat and we certainly found the relaxation we required. The staff were very friendly and there was always someone around to help if you needed it. They were great with the children but beware they like to push the kids in the pool without warning, totally ok if you have a water confident child like my son but maybe not if there are not, but we threw them in fully clothed to get our own back so all if fair lol!! The hotel does not offer any evening entertainment, but we happily made our own, either chilling by the bar or taking a nice stroll into the town, which was approx 20 mins walk but a lovely walk so again that was not a problem. Bodrum was an hour bus trip away but also well worth the trip. We had a brilliant day at the waterpark with the kids and also the markets were well worth seeing. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would love to go back. I hope you enjoy your stay here too x

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the sea rather than the pool as you will get a bigger balcony.

Rooms are reasonably sized, with basic furnishings and small bathrooms. Cleaning standards were good with towels changed daily.

The Aydem is pretty typical of small Turkish hotels; facilities are basic but rooms are clean and comfortable and the prices are ridiculously low. Staff were mostly friendly with the majority speaking reasonable English. Breakfast was standard Turkish fare supplemented by pastries, savouries and occasional pancakes - a better selection than the norm.

Located at the edge of the resort, this is a quieter more low-key alternative to the many 'all-inclusives' that seem to dominate Turgutreis. The walk to town takes around twenty minutes - longer in the heat of the day - and is delightful, the views from the roof terrace are not to be missed.

In our view, many of the negative comments that have been left are largely unjustified. Guests really need to match their expectations more closely to the rates being charged. Turkish/Greek hotel owners provide discounted rooms in the expectation that visitors will spend money there when they arrive, not doing so will not make you popular! It's pretty simple, many owners are struggling to stay afloat, paying very little for your room and then attempting to take in discount food and drink from outside is thoughtless to the point of insulting.

On the whole, we were not especially enamoured with Turgutreis so probably won't return but wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Aydem to anyone seeking a relaxing no-frills break.

We stayed at the Aydem Hotel at the end of October, for the price we paid found that it was ok, Staff and owners were helpful and friendly, cleaning not so good but as it was last week of opening think they were on basic staff, towels were changed every day but no bedding changed in 10 days, floor swept once, bathrooms could do with an update but done the job. Breakfast was traditional and consisted of cold meats and cheese, they did have a toaster which we were grateful for. The area around the pool is small but you have got the private beach area as well, could this being busy at peak season.
The walk into the town was approx 20 mins and was lovely along the water, Bar street had lots of bars for you to choose from, Paddys Bar and The Bar were great hosts, Marco's was a great place to eat and very fair with prices, we found a chicken wrap as a snack for only 3.50 lira and they were lovely.
The dogs at night did become annoying at times as howling throughout the night, they never bothered you if you went onto the beach, were not aggressive and quite happy to sleep!!!!! We would stay here again and would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view, the view is lovely, maybe a small balcony but does the job

I travelled to the Aydem Hotel in October 2012 and found that it was okay. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The towels were changed every day and the room was given a quick clean; that is to say the bin was emptied , the bed made and the floor washed.

Breakfast was fine, although I chose not to eat it too often as it was a bit boring. The walk into town was 20-25 minutes long along the promenade and was fantastic. However, beware of walking along the road behind the hotel as I was nearly killed by 4 lads in an expensive Audi car. There are 4 dogs nearby that do live on the beach but these have been inoculated and have ear tags as they have been released from Turgutreis dog pound and put back on to the streets as the pound is full according to local knowledge.

For the price the hotel is good, althopugh other tourists in town said it was not that good. I think they had heard about previous double booking, but this didn't happen to me.

Overall I recommend this hotel and you can eat your own food and drink but you must lock it into your suitcase so that it can not be confiscated when you are out of your room.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor and overlooking the sea.

We booked the Aydem based on their website and Trip Advisor reviews, aware that is was 2 star rated. This review (and photos) cuts through any ‘rose tinted spectacle’ opinions brought on by too much Efes beer and sun. We arrived at 12.30am due to a delayed flight and, despite the advertised 24hr beach bar, it was a struggle to even get a bottle of water. Luckily we had emergency provisions in our suitcase. We’d seen the sign outside about food/drink being taken into the hotel, but in our room (207) there was an A4 page, haphazardly stuck to the front of the wardrobe ‘forbidding’ this. It advertised their beach bar which we’d already established was closed. But hey, it was late and we just needed a shower and sleep. There was no hot water (website states ‘continuous hot water’) and the state of the grouting made our toes curl. The room was basic, clean but, like the whole hotel, very dated (circa 1950). Our room had a single and double bed but the balcony could barely accommodate one plastic chair. The weather was such that we could do without aircon at an exorbitant £3 per day and, we didn’t need the room safe – another £3 per day. The rules about food meant there was no hope of a fridge in the room. Morning arrived – still no hot water. It was a blessing we’d only booked B+B as the breakfast was the same every day and, frankly, pretty awful. Never any fresh fruit and the hot trays (which did change) even made the hotel owners head for the olives (3 varieties, cereal – always the same 2). Think of Aydem food as calories and you’ll get by. Towels were changed daily, even when we followed rules for them not to be, but I saw evidence that the bathroom wasn’t cleaned during the 10 days we were there. We soon learnt that hot water was only guaranteed late afternoon/early evening. The pool looked nice but we opted for the hotel’s private bit of beach. The sun beds were wooden, non-adjustable affairs but large cushions made them quite comfy. However, no beach towels provided by the hotel so our first trip into Turgurtreis was to buy some. Be aware that 4 dogs live almost permanently on the hotel beach, usually in harmony, but the occasional spat can be quite frightening. We ate out every night (not surprisingly) and the 20 minute walk along the lovely promenade into town was very pleasant. Town restaurants were good, shops around the marina were classy and our trips to Ephesus and Kos excellent. If you’re thinking of getting some late sun, we left on 11 Oct and many of the hotels and restaurants were closing down for the winter.
