“Fantastic little place pool, bar, beach& resteraunt 2 feet from each other... Paul from WORTHING-SUSSEX”
Reviewed June 7, 2009

We have just returned from the Acelya Hotel in Yashi Beach/Ortakent, and i firstly want to say a huge thank-you to Durson and his family for making us feel s welcome and doing everthing they could to make our stay perfect.
Well what can i say... we arrived at night and the coachtoppe at a liitle bus stop with smallparade of beach shops their was also a bit of a dirt track outside... please please dont be put off, this is just the back of the hotel and nothing to worry about... So when we turned the corned of the smll shops we were amazed to see a beutiful promanade and bay with lights glittereing and couples strolling.. we then saw our hotel and thought how cute is this little place... its just like the photo's but better in real life as everthing is within stggering distance!!
We checked in no proble i asked for pol view if an left and thats what we got, we thought there would be no time for food as it was late but the waiters and staff said 'no problem' sit have a drink and we will do wat ever you like!! now ive been to 4-5 stars and they have said kitchen now closed, so how nice was that!!.
The hotel is basic as in accomadation but as long as your not a moany minny youll be fine... because it make up fo it in location, view, and hospatality.....
Please if your retired or a couple looking for a relaxed holiday no loud bar strips this is your place....
By the way i also proposed to my girlfriend here because i thought it was one of the most stunning litle place we have been too, and we've done carribean.....

We booked a week at the Acelya hotel with Thomson Holidays. As other reviewers have said the hotel is in a great position facing onto Yahsi beach. The hotel rooms are basic but are kept very clean, as are the communal areas. Fridges can be hired for £2 a day and safety deposit boxes for £1 a day. We stayed on a b and b basis and only ate in the hotel on one evening and found the meal uninspiring. Most other evenings we ate at Viras where an excellent 2 course meal with a glass of wine cost about £15. We also had a really good meal at Denizkeze Fish Restaurant on the quay in Yahsi.
We went on day trips to the Dalyan river and to Ephesus, both organised through the Thomson rep. Both these trips require a 5:50 a.m. pick up from the Acelya. The 'packed breakfast' consisted of a toasted cheese sandwich (and 2 slices of toast if you didn't like cheese!!). Both trips were well organised and our guide Erol was extremely knowledgeable. We also went on the 'Chill Out Cruise' which was very relaxing but be aware that there is very little shade on the boat so take plenty of sun protection and a hat.
Finally be aware that the prices charged at Bodrum airport are extortionate. In most bars a bottle/can of the local Efes beer cost us 5 Turkish Lira. In the airport we were asked to pay 10 Euros!!

oh dear.
I wouldnt go back to this hotel for the following reasons:

1) drinks very expensive, waiter admitted different price for different nationalitis, no prices at the bar.
2) no accurate wake up call for the early trips out, no packed breakfasts when already paid for.
3) no recipts no way of checking what charged for at bar, restaurant etc. Staggered by bar bill when we paid daily!
4)didnt even unpack in first room, immediately asked for another, they had put us in the worst room of the otel, 126 down an alley, and we were mixed up with the istanbul Dance Troupe of about 40 x16 year olds, with one chaperone. To be fair they were very well behaved, but they do stay up and chatter all night!
5)the food is, well, simple? bland? short on meat? We went half board, dont bother, the evening meal is always the same, soup, then chips, rice, salad and whatever the meat of the day is, squashed meat balls, chicken off a stick etc, heavy on the salt as well, and always as dry as a bone.
6) pool very small and cold.
Good Things
people are absolutely loverly, very nice family. Moved rooms no problem. Right on the beach, free sunbeds, everything superclean and tidy, good showers, good people we were staying with mainly older brits who go same time every year, had a right hoot with them. The bread is brill, hubby existed on it, i lost 6 lbs in weight. day trips to Efesess and Dalyan were brill, and so was the chill out cruise.
Would go back to this beach, but not this hotel.

Just returned from a one week stay at the Acelya and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. The staff were warm, friendly and very attentive, going out of their way to make our holiday as stress free as possible. The Hotel is well run by Dursan and his family. The hotel and rooms are kept spotlessly clean by Fatima and her staff. We stayed B&B, breakfast was consisted of bread, cheese, boiled egg, tomotoes and olives, there was also cornflakes, honey and preserve. Dined at the hotel a couple of times, service was attentive and food ok; bar service was equally as good. The are plenty of restuarant along the beach front to choose from, the resort was quiet although it is still early season. However the dolmus took about 20-25 minutes to get into Bodrum if we fancied a livelier scene. During our stay I met 3 couples from the UK who had been returning to this hotel for over 20 years..... I feel this provides recommendation for this hotel by itself.

My wife and I are just back from the Acelya and I felt that I must add to the existing reviews. Dursun, his family, and staff are all so friendly, competent, and obliging. We had a perfect week. The hotel is kept very clean, the food is good, and the location could not be better. The weather was perfect all week. We would definitely go back to the Acelya.
