Eken Resort Hotel
Ranked #45 of 101 Hotels in Gumbet
Reviewed August 30, 2011

Just arrived back from our wonderful 2 weeks in Eken Resort Hotel. What can i say but all good things.
We arrived very early morning the reception staff very polite even helped with the bags to our room,we had 2 rooms which were right next to each other that was a bonus.
Rooms very large nice double bed and a single, air con a must( and thats free lol),bathroom has a bath with a shower in it, you have to ask for a plug for the bath which is not a problem, rooms cleaned every day bedding changed 3 times a week towels every day.The maids work so hard.
Pool area was really good, few sunbeds around the pool but The Hotel has a sun terrace, with lots of beds with mats and in the middle lots of big cushions, pool does'nt have a shallow end but not to deep, cleaned every evening.
Food really LUSH lots of choice, my daughter is a veg so lots of options for her.You could eat all day if you wanted cos the terrace bar were cooking snacks from 12.
Beach was a very short walk max 2 mins lol, sunbed and brollys there and they are free, the beach is not sand but very fine gritty stuff but we just wore an old pair off flip flops in the water and for the beach, plenty going on at the beach even a camel ride lol.
Staff were Amazing nothing was to much trouble, we had a good laugh with them all,not alot of English people at the hotel when we were there but we did make some conversation with foreigners lols
All in a BRILLANT holiday and defo going back next year can't wait

After experiencing Turkey for the last 5 years, we were very dissappointed with Gumbet. Dirty filthy beach, which was like a builders yard. Then when it came to Breakfast their variety consisted of a 3 minute boiled egg and a 5 minute boiled egg and of course salad cheese ham and bread and the next morning and the next and so on. Evening meal meatballs ok, next night meatballs, then barbecue night MEATBALLS. We then approached restaurant manager mehmet, who then gave us a tour of the kitchen to show us what we had to look forward to. They only brought fruit out when we said we are used to fruit when we come to lovely Turkey in the past for desert. Mehmet explained to us "perhaps some change in the future a!!!!!" top tip please take some spare cash you will need this to eat, like we did. We complained to the Hotels 4 u rep was as much use as a chocolate kettle.

we have stayed here 3 times and each time we have not been disappointed. The rooms are large and in keeping with Turkey. The food is good and there is plenty of it. It is a short walk in to Gumbet. The staff are friendly and helpful. All in all a great hotel for the price

I and my wife were here for 7 days. Our intention was to go on trips around, to see the most important places which exist here. So, we had visited Pamukale and Efes.
The hotel is an old one, not so big, but with a pool and a terrace on the top and not so far from the see (300-500 m). Our room was on the 1st level , small, with ants in the balcony and inside the room! I think rooms on the top are better than ours. The meal was O.K, staff polite and the place of the hotel near o street.
All in all, I'll never came back here!

Room Tip: The best rooms are on the top, fare from the reception, restaurant.

We PREVIOUSLY stayed at this hotel (June 2008) and it was FANTASTIC, we could not fault it.................. BUT this year was a big let down.
Our rep was from Holidays 4 U, we could not contact him after the first meeting.
We were allocated a basement room which was rather dark and dismall although it had a larger balcony.
The staff, (except for a very iratate lady receptionist,) were very friendly and helpfull. The amenieties had not changed, they were still good with 2 nights entertainment and the location of the hotel is good...
BUT the food was disgusting......the hot food was only just warm, the cold food was warm. The meals were repetetive and tasteless, the majority seemed like inferior produce. We often had to wait for food trays to be re-filled, except for the enourmous amount of salads offered.
The towels were only changed every 3/4 days and even when we put them onto the floor the maid hung them back up for use! The bed linen was only changed 3 times in our 2 week stay. Some of the towels and linen were threadbare and had holes in.
Just over half way through our holiday my partner and I got what we thought was "Turkey tummy" although we had been careful with hygene, water etc...and only had our meals and drinks from the hotel. We suffered silently( taking medication from the chemist), until we overheard other guests complaining about the same symptoms, four persons of one party had to be admitted to hospital with AMOEBA INFECTION.
Once in the UK we were still ill .....after stool tests we were found to be suffering from dysentary caused by AMOEBA INFECTION . My partner is ok but I am stlll recovering 7 weeks later.

The hotel was ok, food was great, personnal and service was good enough, cleanliness is ok, only 2 mins from seaside and 5 mins to the nightlife, internet was only in the lobby to use so that was the bad part for me ! and to add this part of Gumbet the sea is not so clean cos of the wind from the south !, anything wanna ask for more are welcome ;)..

I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Eken Resort with 2 of my friends and have serious holiday blues. Can not wait to return and am already looking at prices for a long weekend later in the year! Truly amazing place!

When we first arrived we were a little worried we'd made a huge mistake, our transfer from the airport to the hotel was a nightmare, the guy clearly didn't have a driving license and on a couple of occasions nearly rolled us off the road! He then got lost in Gumbet and after an hour of driving round in circles we finally managed to get him to stop at a taxi rank and ask a local taxi driver for directions, who was actually kind enough to jump in the mini bus and actually show him the way!

When we got to the hotel it was about 6am and we were shattered, the guy in reception said we'd be staying in the family suite building (whichi s just across the road from the main building) and said that there was only 2 beds in the room (there were 3 of us) and another bed would be brought to the room by 10am that morning. 10am came and went and no bed arrived so we spoke to the manager who advised there had been a mistake and we wouldnt be getting another bed so would have to move rooms into the main building. Was a pain having to move as we'd already unpacked but was the best move ever! If they offer to put you in the family suites building say no, the rooms are dated and need re decorating and I think it would become annoying having to go back and forth for the bar and restaurant.

But, once we'd moved I really couldn't fault the hotel in anyway. The rooms in the main building are immaculately clean. The hotel itself is spotless, the food is amazing (but do NOT expect English food. It is Turkish food, but you are in Turkey so what do you expect!) Different choices every day, always fresh and plenty of it. As we paid vvery little for a weeks all inclusive we were expecting the food to be poor and having to go out for dinner in the evenings at least a couple of nights, but there really was no need! The food in the hotel was great. We ate at the al la carte restuarant in the hotel one night and that was defo worth the visit, it was a 5 course set menu and was beautiful!

everywhere in the hotel was clean, the lads working there are always there clearing up after you the second you have finished. The pool is perfectly clean and I saw the maintenance guy testing the chlorine levels on a daily basis and adjsuting accordingly. The alcoholic drinks are nto watered down at all, infact the spirit measures were too strong on some occasions! LOL!

The staff are great, really friendly, do their best to speak English and have a chat and a laugh with you, most of them work all day and night long but they always have a smile on their face and will help you with whatever you need. Can not fault them at all.

The hotel is about 5 mins walk from bar street, so far enough away not to be disturbed by the music of a nightime but close enough to walk. And it also only about 2 mins away from the beach and has a small section of private beach just for people staying at the hotel. The beach is gravelly rather than soft sand, but like everything else, its spotlessly clean and totally beautiful.

Only down side is the hotel is at the bottom of a very steep slope heading into town so anyone with walking difficulties may find it awkward. We were fine, as long as we had flat shoes on! LOL!
Gumbet itself is beautiful, the water sports were a great laugh and reasonable price. The water park is worth a visit and of course bar street is a MUST of an evening.

Be prepared to put up with the guys outside the bars and shops touting for business (most people call it hassling but at the end of the day they are trying to make a living so I dont see it as harresment at all) be polite but blunt with them, just say no thank you and move on, they soon leave you alone. There's no need to be rude to them or ignore them as I saw some people doing. We found that most of them were a laugh to have a chat with anyway!

All in all an amazing holiday, I really cant fault Eken at all and Gumbet is beatiful. I ant recommend it enough! Feel like my words just cant do the place or the people justice!

TAKE ME BACK PLEEEEEEEEASE!!!! LOL!!!
