“BEST HOLIDAY EVER :D”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2010

Have just returned from the WOW Bodrum, and WOW really does describe the property. We arrived local time around 9pm on the 7th May, and were checked in and in our room by 9.15pm. Check in was quick and easy and the bell boy assisted us to our room with our luggage. Rooms are very brightly decorated to say the least! But you cannot fault them, they are spotless. Big double beds, balconies, and the bathroom has thee best shower in the world! We could tell by the service and the hotel grounds that this holiday would be memorable.

I would recommend trying the spa treatments, me and my boyfriend did the turkish bath, along with a bronzing massage, and it was the ultimate in relaxation. It was 200 Turkish Lira for both of us, which worked out at roughly £50pp which is a bargain for what your getting.

The hotel itself is huge, and took us a good few days to find out were all the facilities were located!!, Would definatly recommend trying the A la Carte restaurants, you are allowed one booking at each of these per week. We tried the Med Restaurant and the Italian. My fave was the med restaurant, and was slightly dissapointed with the italian! The main buffet restuarant was good too, offering salad bars, hot and cold buffets and an amazing selection of deserts!

I work for Thomas Cook and would honestly recommend this hotel to my customers, collegues and friends.

I cant possibly write all of our experiences on here, but feel free to contact me and ill be happy to answer and questions etc!

This hotel is well worth a visit. Beautiful views over Gumbet bay and lovely well kept grounds and surroundings,

The rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained with maid service every day.

The choice of food at this hotel was great...Main buffet restaurant with cooking stations, all varied daily. We also ate in the Turksih and Italian restaurant, fantastic restaurants with friendly, attentive staff.

Drinks were very good, different bars, 24hr bar, good choice of cocktails and wine.

Staff very helpful and cater to your every need.

Pool and beach areas very nice, plenty of sunbeds and jettys on the beach with cushions and sunbeds. Lots of watersports available to on the beach.

Overall i would say this hotel is one of the best i have stayed in and will definatly return here. Give it a try i am sure you will not be dissapointed !!!

My only word of warning is the prices in Bodrum Airport !!! 5 euros for a can of coke !!!! .
But that is the same in all airports now !!!

If you have any questions regarding this fantastic hotel, i will be happ to try and help you.

Early May 2010. Just returned from a week's holiday at the WOW Gumbet. We were a bit apprehensive as never been to Turkey before and had never taken all inclusive before. Absolutely delighted in both. The facilities, quality and diversity of food and the service in the hotel are marvellous. Loved the option of the pool or the beach.
Also Turkey is great - the people are very friendly and the scenery is beautiful. Ephesus is a must and Bodrum very picturesque -- lovely marina -- castle certainly worth a visit --- even had a Turkish bath -amazing.
Although you can walk along the beach 1to Gumbet the town is a bit of a mess at the moment but it is no problem to get a Dolmus outside the hotel which takes you to Bodrum in 5 mins.

Will certainly be going back to Turkey and to the WOW.

Jennifer

We arrived at the WOW Bodrum hotel on 3rd may 2010 and stayed for a week.
Please be aware that Gumbet is undergoing MAJOR building works which makes getting to the hotel a very bumpy journey through what is basically a huge building site, with that said, do not let that put you off from going to this hotel as there was absolutely no noise whatsoever from the works, the bars etc in Gumbet were still open if you wished to go there (We didn't),
Booking in was quick and easy and we were then taken to our room (4531) which was very clean (Carpeted) and had a fantastic view over the sea towards Gumbet and Bodrum, (We asked for a top floor room which is just about the only way to get a sea view). There were no Tea / Coffee facilities in the room so maybe a travel kettle and some brew kit would be an idea if you wish. The fridge contains: 1 large bottle of water, 1 bottle of pepsi, 1 bottle of seven up and 2 beers, they are replaced on a daily basis.
You need to ask for the key to your safe when you are booking in at reception, it is free but must be paid for if you lose it.
The hotel is on a hillside with lots of steps and steep ramps but there are 2 lifts which will take you from reception at the top down to beach level if you wish.
There are 3 restaurants that you can eat in besides the main buffet restaurant (more on those in a mo). The buffet restaurant is ok, it has a typically large salad bar in the middle with hot foods available at different locations in the restaurant, the food though was not quite what i expected, the only meat i saw being served was on 1 night, roast chicken, the rest of the time it was Turkish style burgers and pasta (Not cooked to order just in big serving dishes) the only hot food i had in the restaurant was soup, everything else was only warm. The Bread man was superb and you absolutely must try the stuffed breads he makes, they are absolutely superb.
You can book into 1 of the themed restaurants once for each week you are there, the Italian was superb, the Turkish was also superb and the mediteranean was very nice (I had sea bass which was cooked well but it was'nt for me, All the fish are served with head and tail on).
There is an ice cream bar above the turkish restaurant which also has a selection of cakes..........The wife enjoyed these very much ! ! !
The pool area is spotless and the animation team work hard but do not pester you if you just want to relax.
The bar staff are helpful and pleasant, the reception bar is probably the best stocked as people were coming up from the pool bar to get cocktails made.
We took the dolmus (The local bus) into Bodrum for an evening which was well worth the trip, we strolled around the harbour, had a meal, a couple of beers and did a bit of shopping, a trip to Budrum is an absolute must, great place and people.
There are shops in Bodrum where you can book your excursions at a fraction of the cost of what your hotel rep will try and charge you.
The jetty's at the hotel have huge bean bags on them if you just wish to lounge about and relax by the sea.
This hotel is most definately the best in the Bodrum area and i doubt you would be dissapointed with it.
Finally, thanks to Alan and Fiona for the laughs and your company during our stay, see ya soon for a beer.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2010

We have just returned from the WOW Resort Bodrum on 11th May 2010 after spending a week there.

Firstly beware of taking a day flight as the queue at VISA and Passport control at Bodrum Milas airport was ridiculous - over 2 hours to get through as it seems that 4-5 planes come in together. That said however if you have night flights and want to keep your room on at the WOW after noon they will charge you 30 euros per person, not per room. So worth weighing it up.

It is true that the hotel is in Gumbet and not Bodrum and currently Gumbet is undergoing some major resurfacing and so Gumbet is not in a good state outside the hotel however they do seem to be working quickly and the local people told us that Gumbet will be perfect next year - it would have been nice for Thomas Cook to mention this to us but they didn't. Bodrum really isn't too far though and for 2.50 TL you can take the Dolmus (little van/bus) to Bodrum until c.midnight! Taxi's are not cheap by comparison so we only used the Dolmus.

There are lots of really good things about the hotel and these are:

- The welcome, you are greeted with a local drink and your bags are taken to your room
- The hotel staff are lovely, particularly Serif (Turkish Restaurant - Sinai, and Bar) and Gokhan (Turkish Restaurant - Sinai, and Bar) and also Osna in the main Amadeus Restaurant and Pattiserie.
- The Entertainment Team are really good fun and welcoming! There is a lot going on in the day so no one can complain of boredom and the evening entertainment varies from Miss WOW / Karaoke to Acrobats/Bands/Shows. They also take you out in the evening to the clubs in Bodrum / Gumbet if you want to go. Sergei in particular was lovely!
- The beach has two fantastic jetties (pavillions) on which you can sunbath and overlook the sea / swim etc.
- There are two pool areas which are lovely the main area and then the relax pool which is quite a long way from the main reception but once we found it we thought it was quite nice.
- The all inclusive food, for the money you pay, is amazing! Everyone on here is correct, there is so much choice and you will never go hungry! Food is served for approx 22 hours of the day! However don't expect lots of seafood, fish or a large selection of meat - there is always some but not a huge choice.
- The rooms are really clean and are cleaned daily.

For us the downsides were:

- The room, it isn't really 4/5* as we would expect in UK, but that is typical abroad. The bathroom had a really good shower but was generally a very basic bathroom. Also don't expect to be able to flush paper in the toilet as Turkey's sewage system isn't geared up for that. The bathroom products offered are not great either - take your own shampoo etc. The beds are quite firm. Like a few other people have commented we had to ask several times for our mini-fridge to be restocked (not without a heavy dose of attitude from the staff involved).
- Noise - from the entertainment / other guests if you are near the main reception can be a problem is you are a light sleeper. That said if you are want to be in the action you kind of have to be prepared to accept it otherwise your room is quite some way from it all.
- Smaller amounts of TL - the hotel constantly refused to give us smaller than 20TL which is c£9 which made tipping in the hotel a bit of a problem unless we got change from outside of the hotel. Also the Dolmus driver not overly thrilled if you give him a 20!
- Eating out in Bodrum - is expensive and not very traditional food.
- The staff in the Amadeus restaurant were slow and some of them quite lazy (not Osna) and regularly we had to ask for cutlery, a napkin, a glass of water, a glass of wine. It didn't flow very well and was a constant source of complain amongst guests.
- The onsite Disco is AWFUL and smelt of sick! If you want a late night out go out with the entertainment team, or go to Bar Street in Gumbet or Bodrum for a better night out.

We would strongly recommend using the A la carte restaurants at lunch and make sure you do book in the morning for your evening meals, 3 restaurants only 1 visit per stay. But get on the phone at 9am and just keep trying. We ate at the Italian and the Turkish. Turkish was our favourite. We didn't try the mediterranean so can't comment.

On the whole we had a fantastic time, met some great people and would recommend this hotel to others. It is definitely the best value holiday we have ever been on!

dear our guest, thank you very much for all your great comments about us. you can be assured that they are the greatest motivation for us. ı passed your comments to my colligues already. ı informed our front office manager to wanr his staff to have more cash at the exchange part for guests. our food and beverage manager is informed about your comments about our main restaurant staff- some of them being lazy and the cutlery not benig available at all tmies. he will pay more attention to this topic. our house keeping manager is informed about the room amenities, minibar filling and the disco to be checked more often and you can be assured that she will warn her staff for those issues. you can be assured that we will pay maximum attention to your feedback and your comments will be evaluated with the highest level of consideration. best regards, Bade Oral
