“well worth the money”
Reviewed July 12, 2011

I read some of the reviews before we went to Club Flora we were,nt expecting too much from it but,we got a really good deal so thought we would give it a try. The experience was far better than we expected. The foods not brilliant, but there is plenty of it the same goes for the drink. the rooms are clean and tidy and the staff are pleasent.
The beach is a short walk away and you can use the sunbeds for free. All they ask is that you buy a drink, but they dont pester you. If you want a turkish bath you wont get better than the Flora. all in all it was a nice hotel and we would use it again.

Attactive from the outside, pool area very clean and tidy - rooms however very small beds not v comfy and covers were more like tea towels... we had a dodgy air con unit which leaked and dont think maitance guys quite understood water is not meant to leak from the wires!!!

Food wasnt that great not much choice ... but this is a small hotel so really not mant people to cater for... eating out was cheap though so didnt bother us!!

Area was nice but seemed to be attracting rather a lot of younger groups by the time we left so i think we went at the right time!!!

One complaint i do have is there was no lighting on the path leading back to the hotel from beach/restaurants and was a couple of incidents where some men (turkish) one each time on 2 sepearate occasions were hiding in bush or park, first time my two friends had to run as he was following them quickly 2nd time a guy grabbed one of us (and no we are not young girls goin out gettin smashed was a relaxing holiday away from bfnds and kids) .... just to warn the females have ur wits about u!!

besides that though the area was nice met some lovely people especially the people in Dream restaurant on the beach Mario, lovely little sam and peter crouch :-)

nice area and hotel is fine for a cheapy hols :-)

just returned from hotel (which was a fab holiday) and just wanted to warn everybody about going to the turkish bath place in the hotel..DO NOT take valuables with you!!! The bath and massage were great but when we got our stuff back out of the LOCKED locker we were 20 pound missing in english money and 80 turkish lira!!!! We knew to the penny how much money we had with us because we had 100 pound in english money and 248 turkish lira because we had just been for change!!! The kind person left us just enough lira to pay the bill!!! When I mentioned it to somebody else the same evening they informed me that they had ''lost'' 100 lira note which they had put in the locker!!! So be carefull!!! If the locker is locked, you cannot prove anything!!!

Good points: Everywhere was spottlessly clean. With a couple of exceptions the staff were friendly and very helpfull. Very flat site with easy walking throughout the hotel (although there are some steep steps by the bar that need to be edged with visibility tape) and the position on the beach means that there are no access difficulties at all. No nasty insects in the rooms and the maid service was excellent with linen changed whenever needed.

Now the bad points, and there are many: It is obvious that during the refurbishment in 2010, a lot of money was spent on cosmetics. The grounds and pool area are great and well tended. The pool is not suitable for non-swimmers. There are no steps and only one exit ladder in the deepest part of the pool. The hotel is in good decorative order. But then, I feel they must have run out of money.
Most rooms have double beds (and very comfortable they are too. But bedding comprised of SINGLE sheets layed overlapped across the bed with no top sheet and just a cellular blanket (SINGLE SIZE) that obviously did not cover the bed fully. If you suffered sunburn the blankets were unbearable against the skin, being scratchy. We took the blanket off the second bed and used a blanket each. The top cover was a single cover laid across the bed. I asked for double sized bedding and a top sheet and received a shrug and a "sorry, no have these".

Everybody we spoke to had the same experience. The bath towels were tiny and so threadbare you could see through them! The storage for clothes was very limited. The wardrobe was not tall enough to hang my wife's long dresses without creasing and there were only six clothes hangers. We eventually were given another eight and that took a full day to arrange. The vast majority of our clothes were left in the suitcases (no storage space for them or the cases). There were no clothes drawers at all and the usual table with drawers and a mirror above were missing. The only mirror (apart from the bathroom) in the room was in a recess with no light near it. There was only one power socket in the room and that was so well hidden it took three days to find it attached to the bedside cabinet against the mattress of the second bed.

In 44 years of travelling the world, I have never come across such truly awfull food as that served here. The "All Inclusive" should be shown as "Limited and very restricted All-Inclusive." Breakfast never varied. Hot hard boiled eggs, three kinds of salami type meats, feta cheese and a sliced hard cheese which was very nice, olives, salad a couple of cereals and some cakes, awfull tea (my wife took tea bags from the pool bar to make tea) and passable coffee with lumpy grouts. There was no option for anything else. Those of the egg and chip fan club headed to the bars outside for their full English. Lunch and Dinner were much the same without the meats cerals, tea and coffee, but with chicken (sometimes very good, often not) lamb and alleged turkey (comments as chicken) and fish heads and tails (No middles) that were so dry as to be dessicated. One night they slipped up and had some excellent mackeral. But that was short lived and the left overs came out as a cold salad item the next lunch time and re-heated for the same days dinner. Unless you were in the restaurent as soon as it was open, the food was always at best luke warm and often cold. The three varieties of soup, chicken, tomato with pasta and tomato without pasta were invariably cold due to being served in a flat serving pan while the soup kettle remained off to the side and unused. On three occassions we took one look and went out to dinner. One evening a young waiter asked me why I was not eating, whilst my friends made a half hearted effort to eat the unappertising fare. He told me he wanted me to be happy on my holiday and said he would get something for me. Ten minutes later he presented me with a chicken doner kebab that he had ordered in and paid for himself. He refused my offer to pay for this. The receptionist (the only passable English speaker) looked baffled when she presented the package to him and he in turn gave it to me. I said to her that she should be ashamed that a member of her staff should have to do this because the food was so bad. She turned on her heel and walked away without a murmer. I gave him a good tip before I left. Afterwards we went out and had a very good meal at Dreams on the beach.

Let me emphasize that I am not a fussy eater. Part of my holiday experience is to try local foods and this was my fifth trip to Turkey. But this hotel had the unfailing ability to take potentially good food and ruin it.

And then there was the bar. "After 11pm all drinks must be paid for" proclaimed the notice behind the bar. OK, no problem. Except that the bar closed at 11pm on the dot, the lights were all turned of and there was no way to buy a drink and nobody to serve it. But by then we were fed up of Troy (pressumed to be beer. So week it made Carling seem drinkable), local vodka, gin and Raki, tea and coffee. My wife learned to drink vodka, which she had never drunk before simply because she had no alterntive. There was a sad supply of non-all inclusive drinks available comprising of eleven spirits, seven of which were Turkish imitations of the real thing.

We took a two day trip to Ephesus and Permakkule (well worth the money) and whilst we were away somebody took the clothes dryer belonging to our room which was kept outside the pool side door to our room. On the dryer were two pairs of briefs that had been washed. Five times we asked reception to supply a new dryer. We had nowhere to hang towels and bathing clothes to dry. "I am looking for it. I can not find it." Said the receptionist with the personality by-pass. The day we left a member of staff was seen carrying three new driers in the packaging to the offices. Needless to say the briefs were never found.

As we were getting ready to leave for home workmen started installing CCTV, lifebelts and a loud hailer at the pool ( there was no saftey eqipment previously).

We were told that this hotel is being sold in October and will become a Half Board hotel next year. It can only improve. There is not much room for further deteriation.

Despite continuous complaints from most of the guests nothing was done to address the appalling bar and restaurent problems or the bedding issue.

In short, this hotel is the worst run hotel I have endured in over more than a hundred and fifty holidays and as many again on business trips in more than a twenty countries.

One final point. A waiter at a bar on the beach saw our wrist-bands with Flora Hotel on and asked us if the food was still as bad as it had been. He said that over the last two years countless guests had gone to his and other restaurents to eat because the food was so bad.

We were a group of 14 20-24 year olds who stayed at the flora from 6th-14 June paying £350 all inclusive. We planned to use the hotel as a base for bar street but in fact ended up having a relatively relaxing holiday. Our rooms contained a double bed and a single bed, a tv, excellent air conditioning and the bathroom was fine. Our rooms were all cleaned every day and bedding changed and towels replaced.

The pool area was lovely, the bar and restaurant very close and no serious problem with sunbeds. The staff were fantastic, especially on the bar. The beer was nice and spirits strong. The wine in the restaurant was not so great but it can be mixed with lemonade. There was no limit on the number of drinks being ordered like in many other hotels.

The food was very turkish and choice was rather limited but with 14 of us (2 vegetairans and 1 coeliac) we all found something to eat at every meal. The was a large choice of salads and a smaller choice of hot dishes. Breakfast was continental and basic but the Mistral restaurant down the beach does english fry up for 7.5 lira including a drink. Before you book any holiday please read the brochure and take into account how much you are paying. It is clearly stated that the bar is open 11-11 serving soft drinks, vodka, gin, beer and raki with wine available at mealtimes(which are at certain times of the day). This is exactly what we found so absolutely no complaints here.

I must recommend peterpan and his water sports by parkim ayaz hotel along the beach, we also ate at his restaurant after being offered a good deal. He included free fishbowls and even provided birthday banners for my 21st.

If you find your local reps are with yesi dalyan please double check the time of your return transfer as our friends were told 10pm and picked up at 2pm. Also the boat trip we booked with them resulted in 12 cases of sickness. All in all we had a fantastic stay with few complaints. This hotel is well worth the money and the 3* rating fair. If you want 5* facilities, service and food then pay 5* prices
