Reviewed May 5, 2013

absolutely love this hotel and the area of Gumbet it's in here.
My husband 1st visit was 2 years ago n he loved his holiday experiences so much he brought me here for our first annyversary.
Staff so friendly and helpful and it's easy to make friends here.
Any complaine we had like refrigerator stop working when we got back from diner a new one was in our room n also trouble with the phone and they just replaced it with new one :)
We heard a woman complaining that her phones was taken from her room ,so security came to help her but found the phone hiden and locked in her suitcase.
Her lying could have cost hard working staff their jobs.
We can't find fault with this holiday and would highly recomend and we hope to return again one day heheh of course if we got enough money :)))))))))))

Room Tip: ask for pool view on booking

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 11 nights at the end of June, on arrival we was fist told we hadnt even got a reservation it was sorted and we was shown our room it was disguisting it and 3 single beds when they was only two of us the live telephone wire was hanging out the wall the balcony was just a door would barely fit one person on and it was broke so couldn't even get out, also the room view was a dump yard with a generator, I complained to reception who typically didn't understand us, we did get moved to another room which was a lot beeter the room was bigger and we had a small balcony room still slightly dingy needs a good update, we arrived in the afternoon and sat outside with a drink and spoke to other guests who had the same room problem most guests got shown a disgusting room until they complained, the food was okay basic Turkish standard we did eat out a few times at shanghai which is at the bottom of the hotel steps nxtdoor it as beautiful food was lovely and staff was great highly recommend they even did English breakfast for 6 lira. A positive for this hotel is the entertainment Denis and his staff were great lots of pool activities and good nightly entertainment. The hotel is in a great location when we was on our transfer route the reception is at the back so it looks like your really out the way but the hotel has steps that goes to the bottom which is then a two minute walk to bar street and all restaurant and souvenir shops. The hotel is OK a 3* standard at the best if your looking for a cheap week its OK otherwise would not recommend. If you have any Q's please message me :)

Me and my boyfriend came here for 2 weeks in September 2012 and had a great holiday.
While we were there we spoke to some people who complained they had bad rooms and maids who went through their things, like some of the reviews mention, but we found non of that.
Our rooms were cleaned daily and the hotel was kept clean and the staff were friendly, especially Dennis and the entertainment team!
we were given a not so nice room on arrival but we asked to change and we got another room straight away which was lots better.
The hotel had a lively atmosphere with pool games daily.
Food was quite nice, some nights better than others and the drinks were spirits (watered down) and lager and soft drinks.
The hotel has potential to be lovely i think it just needs a bit of renovation!
We went on some great trips booked through the rep, id recommend Dalyan and the boat trips.
Nightlife was great although drinks were a bit expensive, lots of nice restaurants around and very cheap for meals.
Had some fab nights out with the entertainment team.
Id recommend Halakarnas nightclub, expensive but worth it!
The hotel has a very nice spa and we had a lovely turkish bath and massage in it for a very cheap price!
All in all a great holiday, think we would try another hotel next time but the palm garden has good location, nice pool area and friendly staff, Fab time :)

I went to Gumbet on holiday with my friends after my A-Levels, for a week of relaxing in the day and getting hammered in the night. I think I paid about £450 for the flights/hotel/food in total, and it was absolutely awesome value for money if you're on a tight budget.

Start with the location: it's about 5 minutes' walk from the centre of Gumbet, and 10 minutes from the beach.

The rooms were fine, mine was a two bed room with clean bathroom and sheets (we were there for 7 nights and I think the nice, friendly cleaner cleaned the room 5 times without asking once for a tip. It is amazing how far a nice word here or there will go). It was air conditioned and had a 'balcony' - admittedly this was only the sort of balcony where you'd hang your clothes to dry, but anyway.

We spent most of our days by the pool, which was nice; loads of people of all nationalities, good place to have fun with the other holidaymakers playing football in the pool, but also relaxing to sunbathe and read too. Some difficulty in finding a sunbed unless you got up at the crack of dawn, but that will be the same wherever you go.

The food, I must say, was poor - I wasn't expecting much, but I couldn't even distinguish what most of it was. I stuck to stuff which looked like it wouldn't make me throw up, and was largely successful.

The best thing about this place was the bar. We were all-inclusive and this included UNLIMITED FREE DRINKS until 11pm, at which time we set off clubbing for the night, such a good way to pre-drink!

One thing I would say for people travelling to Turkey in general, is HAGGLE - and particularly with holiday reps. We got fleeced by ours, she sold us a trip to a water park (admittedly a great day out) and a boat trip around the islands (very picturesque and fun, leaping off 6m cliffs and diving off the boat into the deep blue, but for some reason pumping house music at maximum volume while boat was moving?!) but the other people we spoke to managed to get a much better deal than us. We were a bit wet behind the ears then, so we learnt our lesson the hard way.

Overall though, the Palm Garden was an ideal place to stay if you want a comfy bed, clean room, nice pool, good location and FREE DRINKS for not very much money. I think the kind of service you get from staff often depends on the way you treat them, that was certainly what I found in Gumbet. If you come to Palm Garden expecting luxury you're barking up the wrong tree - but if you want a cracking good budget drinking holiday in the sun, look no further.
