“The reviews are ALL correct!”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Excuse my delay for writing this review, my daughter and I stayed here June 2012. There are so many negative comments to say about this hotel I don't know where to start!!
Firstly I have to say we got this all inclusive hotel at a knock down price and rightly so! definitely a 1* if that! On arrival during the early hours the very rude receptionist said he couldn't find our booking even though I had the confirmation and then made us wait and wait and wait! 2 hours later and after a further 6-10 people had been checked in and given their room, when I asked him what was happening he said he was waiting for the manager to ring him back. so after a further 30 minute wait (by this time it was 3am) some people who had checked in earlier came back to reception saying they were not gonna stay in the room theyd been given and suddenly the receptionist said we have your room ready for you! yes it was the same one they had refused to stay in!, round the back of the hotel resembling a prison camp with a door which didn't lock, dirty slept in bed (used by the staff) and disgusting bathroom. By this time I was too tired to argue telling my daughter just to get some sleep and we would sort it in the morning, which we did and were offered a different room which wasn't too much better except the area. no working air-con, filthy mattress and pillows and dirty sheets too! bathroom was the size of a cupboard, fridge and telly didn't work and lighting was such of a candle! we came to the conclusion after hearing all the comments from other people, that all the rooms were the same so we stayed put. Mealtimes were crazy but food was good. Pool area was tiny and no sunbeds were available even though they were all broken, towels were left out there all night so you couldn't even bag one early in the morning! we had to buy a lilo to lay on in the end!
I could go on and on and on but I think you get the general idea! However we found the entertainment staff to be ok and activities around the pool were fun. After a few days of settling in and catching up on sleep we became accustomed to the awful surroundings and decided that we had to laugh and joke about it which we did and it strangely made our holiday a hilarious one! Gumbet centre was about a 15-20 minute walk (not 10 minutes as stated on the websites)and was lively and fun. Free wi-fi at the hotel was the only good thing and that kept us sane! The second pool at the bottom of all the horrendous steps was nice for a change and the beach too but again shortage of sunbeds and even more steps! alright going down but a killer to climb in 40 degree heat!
if you've read all the reviews and know what to expect and get it at a cheap price then as long as you just use it as a base then go for it! but don't expect luxury or even standard accommodation as its very very below standard. Cleaners bang on the door at silly hours of the morning just to mop the floor and change towels, the beds were not changed for the whole week we were there! In my view this hotel should be shut down - simple!

Room Tip: There are NO good rooms!!!

Having both served in the British armed forces for a total 19 years, we thought we had stayed in some of the most diabolical places in the world..... BUT!

The hotel was surrounded by dozens of rubbish bags which didn't move the whole week. From the minute we walked into the hotel, we didn't feel welcome at all, I can now see why not many Brits holiday in this hotel.

Bearing in mind that all people in the hotel were all inclusive, there wasn't enough room at the pool area for half the hotel let alone everyone. We tried dinner once but we only lasted 5 mins as it was literally like being at a cattle market. Rude, arrogant and ignorant Russians/Turks ruined the whole experience.

As for our room, we booked a double room with late check out but we got neither of these things. Our room had no windows even though their website shows windows. We had no toilet paper at all and after walking to reception to ask for some because our phone didn't work we still didn't get any, thank god for baby wipes...... There was a mini fridge which didn't work at all and a tv smaller than my iPad which we had to manually tune...... Two single beds which were lumpy and smelly meant that I couldn't cuddle up to my pregnant girlfriend on our last holiday before the birth. Exposed screw heads and jagged wood edges complimented the shabby paint and foul smell to make this room the worst I've ever stayed in. And that's including my 6 month tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. Our room was cleaned once in the whole week and even then, they only changed our towels..... If we didn't get back from the beach before 5pm, we would have to shower with cold water as there was no hot. We asked for the late check out that they offer you, (and we had asked for on booking) as we had an early morning flight, to which we were declined and ushered out our room at 10am due to the hotel over booking... There is no way on this planet this meets any standard of a 1* hotel.... Let alone a 3*!!!

The saving grace for us was the fact that the beaches were nice, weather was fantastic and the Ginger restaurant opposite the hotel Vela was amazing, staff were friendly and the food was top notch. We ate there everyday.

If you can afford to stay in a different hotel then do so as this one doesn't even deserve the one star I have given it.

There's hardly any English people that stay at this hotel ! Many really rude Russians who don't want to talk to English people unless its pervy old Russian men who want to chat you up ... The staff are the same don't want to be polite unless your tipping them or sleeping with them (I got the waiters writing me silly letters about how thay love me whilst I was eating breakfast) the staff also don't like it if you want to drink alcohol and have a laugh around the bar in the evenings ! Most nights thay accused us of being drunk and would refuses to serve us anymore alcohol when we was actually fine! A lot of turkish people stay at this hotel who again I found either really rude or really pervy. The hotel rooms were dirty , mine was cleaned once the whole week and after thay cleaned it the floor was still dirty lol .. It was a cheap last minute deal so I'm not that fussed but if your saving up all year and making this your one big holiday then go somewhere eles . . Gubet itselfs okay .. Bars and clubs were fun (expensive at around £8 for a vodka and coke) .. Streets are dirty but I had fun . Would return to gumbet but not in a hurry , wasn't the best place I've been . Oh and hotel foods awfull , I ended up just eating out

Where to start? We stayed there 4 nights we couldn't have stayed more. From the first sight when we entered the reception things weren't looking well at all. Really old furniture in the room ,lumpy bed so we didn't sleep much first night. Lack of mini bar no shampoo or even toilet paper , inside quite funny smell. Next morning after breakfast we changed room to one on the bottom which was a bit better( at least toilet paper was there ).surprisingly the food wasn't that bad (edible ). If U happen to be there don't eat sausages. From the drinks they had vodka, gin, beer, red and white wine that's all.the beach was really small, and 170 steps down from the hotel.(personally counted) Staff was good with picking up glasses and cleaning tables but u can't say the same thing about cleaning the rooms which was limited to changing towels. Once we saw a cleaner sleeping on sb's bed :0 . If u have limited budget for holiday and u r not with kids then its bearable otherwise squeeze more cash from yr credit card and get sth better. If u wanna stay in the hotel through all yr vacation that's not the place for sure cos its boring. We were mostly out enjoying bodrum so that worked for us well. Personally we will never go there again unless they pay us to stay there lol. Avoid this place

This was a catastrophe until we moved to another hotel. The first room was disgusting and we could not stay. The second room was only passable for a night. The room was too small, the furniture was MDF and looked to have been knocked together by a 7 year old. There was one small window and nowhere to sit. The steps were impossible around the whole site. The place was dirty and wasn't up to standard especially the smell. The number wating for transfers was ridiculous, THANK GOODNESS OUR REP GOT US OUT , we only had to put up with 2 nights.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

we've been going to turkey for five years and have stayed in two star accommodation that was cleaner than this! it is totally unsuitable for disabled people and small children as there are soooo many steps. the hotel is in dire need of refurbishment, and staff that keep it clean. we were put in this hotel because ours had closed for season? we were there for 11 days and tried to get different hotel because this one was so dirty, our room was cleaned once the whole time we were there and the faults we reported were never dealt with.staff werent helpful and there were only three types of alcoholic drinks available[supposed to be all inclusive]. to top it all we ended up with food poisoning! worst holiday ever!

Room Tip: if you still intend going here get a room near reception as they apparently are cleaned every day
