“NOISY & UNCOMFORTABLE!!!”
Reviewed February 22, 2012

we stayed for a week and it was so bad we wanted to go home after 2 nights. the music from the bar was loud and played for most of the night. when we complained nothing was done about it. i was pregnant and found myself getting very upset and stressed about not being able to get to sleep. i understand bars at hotels have entertainment and play music and thats totally fine, but not when its thumping and its going on till 4-5 in the morn!

we were pestered to eat there, we were told we had to buy drinks from the bar only, and not allowed to take drinks from outside the hotel to our room. we were practically searched on entry (you have to go past bar to get to room). it was very hot and i needed extra water and was very thirsty being pregnant, and the water they served at the bar was almost double the price! the staff were pretty intimidating and it just got very tedious dealing with it all. it was a bit of an ordeal each time we came in and out of the hotel. we just wanted to be left alone.

the shower hardly worked, the toilet had seen much better days and the beds and pillows were hard and uncomfortable.

i would never visit turkey again because of this experience. it made it the holiday from hell for me. the noise from the bar and the hassle we got was worth coming home early, and we wished we had done.

dont do it! it was a horrible holiday and very stressful :/

Room Tip: stay in another hotel in another country!

It's quite cheap. It has a swimming pool. The staff is quite nice although their English needs to be improved badly. The only person who can speak English ok is the son of the owner who is 13 years old. The room is just normal. At night the nightclub near there is so noisy. I can't sleep at all. Also people next door had an argument. We asked for laundry and they said they have the service. They were quite slow and when the clothes came back, some are still damp. The pool is really nice though.

We actually had our Honeymoon here! We thoroughly enjoyed our eleven night stay.

The Hotel basic, the room was a little old fashioned and the bathroom past its best. There was a problem with hot water and the comments about not bringing in drinks are true. All that said there are better rooms available for more money and we took out own kettle and drinks in to our room it is just a matter of being discreet.

The staff are excellent, they are friendly, helpfull and courteous like most Turkish people. Another Brit had a problem with his suitcase and the staff leant him a screwdriver and located some screws of the right size to fix it.

We used the breakfast area, the bar, the pool and had two evening meals at the hotel, could not find fault with anything. At the bar the beer was ice cold, the cocktails were mixed perfectly and the bar man was witty and entertaining with all the guests. The food in the restaurant was a credit to Turkish cuisine, though English and other dishes were available.

The Hotel is in a great location a short walk from the bars, restaurants and beach but far enough away that the noise from the town is dulled. The Dolmus goes from the road nearby in both directions to/from Bodrum.

Would recommend the Hotel to anyone, be realistic though and don't expect too much luxury, given how much you pay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter, rooms upstairs at the front have the sea view

The beds were very uncomfortable, the shower barely worked, they played music till five in the morning (the walls were vibrating). We were aggressively confronted when taking a carrier bag holding some drinks bought from a shop round the corner back to our room, and told we had to buy them from the bar! The next day there was a sign in the hotel entrance area- drinks not to be brought onto the premises! The young male Turkish staff were all over a single, middle aged lady and her thirteen year old daughter like a rash, it was disgusting. Pick a different hotel

The service at this hotel is just amazing, it is run by a family and the boys in the family take on a huge part of the job and will do anything to help. We arrived early not expecting to be able to check in but it was not an issue at all and as soon as we needed help, internet, directions, they were there. The rooms are clean, maybe somewhat older, but in good shape. Make sure you ask for the AC remote if it isn't in the room. The breakfast was ok as well, I'm not too big a fan of the classic "Turkish breakfast" in the morning, but you get bread, marmalade, cereals, egg, and you can order cooked breakfast if you'd like. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, service is excellent and friendly and the only reason to go somewhere else would be if you prefer a newer hotel/more stars/better equipped rooms and maybe in a quieter area, although if you go to Gumbet, quiet is probably not what you're looking for. For the price, Yildiz hotel it is very good value for money.

Well run family hotel in central location in Gumbet. 5 min walk to beach, failrly quiet although occassionaly some night noise.
Only had breakfast and this was basic but nice, very turkish and not european at all.
The service was excellent and they were obviously trying to please.
Rooms were basic, but clean and serviced daily.

Low budget Hotel(for the price of a breakfast)run by kind family,in the center of Gumbet, incredible service, outstanding dinners made by hotel s chef for very reasenable prices.Dolmus on the crossing outside the hotel to Bodrum,10 minutes,2.75 tl,nice pool, bar and pooltable etc everything is there.Downside for elderly people are the stairs and the noise from music from the center, but for those who enjoy the nightlife its the right location.Three minutes walk to the beach!I was cynical and fell in a bath of kindness,i will never forget this!Hans Kruithof
