My boyfriend and i have just come back from a lovely holiday in Gumbet. we stayed at the La Maison Apartments. I was abit unsure leading up to the holiday as i kept reading bad reports on here.
The apartments are situated on the very edge of bar street. very noisy until about 6am but we were lucky enough to have a pool view so we didnt hear much of it once the door was closed.
i would say the apartments are good value for money (you get what you pay for) the only thing i would say as a negative was the shower was very small. Also its situated up a hill so people walking difficulties then this isnt the place for you.
The hotel had a variety of age groups there, families, couples and 18-30.
Gumbet itsels is very cheapy to eat out. We could get a 2 course meal for 2 which came with either a bottle of wine or 15% off your bill for £25 which is about 60 lira. The only only downfall is once you have eaten somewhere then all the menu's everywhere are more or less the same..i would recommend Columbia, Divers, China Town for a breakfast and Sunset beach which is located on the beach.
I preferred to eat down the beach as all the tables were on the beach at night and all candle lit. The staff cant do enough for you.
The beach is about a 5 min walk from the appartments. The sun loungers are all free.
There is a bus to Bodrum which can pick you up anywhere, you just flag them down and you normally see one about every 5 mins.
Bodrum is a lovely place. Abit more up market than Gumbet, if i was to go back then i would defo go there.
Make sure you upgrade your baggage allowance as there is so much to buy :-) when buying they will give you a price but ask them what their best price is and they noramlly half it within seconds...
Hope this helps...Happy Holidays :-) xx

Stayed here for 11 nights from 23 july with my hubby and son age 15. A little disappointed with apartment on first sight as been staying in hotels for last fee years but actually nothing wrong with it other than a little dated and could do with some new silicone sealer in bathroom, by the way forgot to tell u i'm a little OCD!!! Cleaner came everyday anything i asked for ie loo rolls, tin opener, plug for kitchen sink i got. Food at pool was delicious made by a guy called John and a young lad tidyied up called Alex at first I thought god they are miserable but one day I asked them to dance to a song and after that we got on champion. GUMBET itself lovely I didn't venture far as caught a chill from too much sun as weather was red hot and preferred to stay nearby. Lovely meals in various restaurants mentioned in previous reviews no real bad ones except a couple of steaks in Chicos one night that were tough as old boots but had meal there a couple of nights before which were lovely I recommend the sizzlers! We went on holiday with another family who are still there now and had a great time but even if we were there alone people were very friendly as same people sit round pool each day you get to know everyone. I should mention although we were a family it is really for singles quite noisy on a night when they come in from clubs but it never spoilt my time there and would defo go back. I was worried about my hol reading previous reviews but honestly it was value for money.

We stayed here from 16th July 2012 until 30th July 2012, myself, my husband and my 2 daughters, ages 19 and 15. We found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Yes there were groups of 18-30s who were very noisy, but a few residents complained and the "noisy ones" were warned they would be removed from the hotel if they continued to annoy people. Overall, we found the accommdation good value for money........the only bad thing about the apartment was the size of the shower.......very tiny.......no good for the larger person! The only bad thing about the situation of the apartments were they are situated half way up an extremely steep hill..........so if you have walking difficulties, be prepared for a steep hike up to the apartments.

Getting a sunbed round the pool during the first week was no problem, but the 2nd week, we found people were putting their towels on the beds at 2am in the morning.........but not actually using the beds until very late in the afternoon. I think this was unfair when there were people wanting to use the sunbeds earlier during the morning/afternoon. I think it would be a good idea if the hotel put a note up stating something like " sunbeds that have been saved, with have their towels removed if the bed is not occupied within 2 hours of saving"

Eating out was relatively cheap.........for our family of 4 it varied between 44 and 100 turkish lira including a drink. Recommended places to eat........Millenium......Divers...... Mumtaz Mahal......Agra......China town........Sues Place. The best breakfasts were in China Town and Sues Place.

Best nights out we had were in Chico's Bar..........lovely staff and very entertaining. We tried Smileys bar but didnt like it as much..... Leos Bar was ok, but quiet.

This was our 4th time in Turkey and although we love the Turkish people........we did find in Gumbet that "some" of the shop keepers turned very nasty when you tried to barter with them.........not a problem i said.........we just spend our money somewhere else :)

Would i stay at La Maison again? yes because it was local to all bars, restaurants and shops. They were cleaned daily and the staff were friendly.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 313 which was more to the back of the apartments so wasn't as noisy

Myself and my 2 female friends stayed here last year in July and loved it so much we are staying again this year. Heading there on Saturday this week and so excited!!!!

We have been to gumbet 4 times now and are all singles in our 30ths. We love how fun, and great the whole resort is and these apartments are right in the heart of the night life. Those with families beware: it is right off the bar street and tends to be popular with those of us who like nights out. However, I have to say we stayed in the apartemtns next to the pool/bar area and were never disturbed by noise/people trying to kick our doors down.

The staff were all lovely and the chef at the pool bar would always change how he prepared food if we asked (politely). The bars around here are all very good fun, particularily brothers bar, and all staff are friendly and appropriate, not sweaty sleazy and violent as some would have you believe. As with anywhere, there are some good and bad bars/people, but I have seen more trouble in one night in england than I have for a full 2 weeks in Gumbet.

Have fun everyone, and let the sun shine please!!!! LOL

After being to Gumbet many times,we thought we would try a different self catering hotel. What a terrible mistake we made by choosing this hotel. My husband, son of 15 yrs and myself never had one nights sleep in the ten nights we was there. Its the worst hotel ive ever stayed in!! Its full of large groups of immature, drunk youths that dont have any respect for others. It should never be advertised as a family hotel,as there was a hand full of us,who all felt the same. We had groups of youths kicking doors in,screaming and shouting outside your bedroom windows. We complained to the staff, but made no difference what so ever!!! The room itself was very basic,no facilities to make breakfast a fridge that didnt work and a shower that was so tiny you couldnt move in it. It was a holiday from hell even in the day time the youths took completely over the pool area, which had broken tables and chairs from all the antics of the previous nights. We had to find another hotel to relax by and spend our money around another pool bar!! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. All they cater for are 18 to 20 year olds!!! Staff we not polite or helpful in any way, even the locals were commenting about how bad it was...

Where to start...Ahmed. One night the hotel receptionist (Ponytail man) had too much to drink, took a Viagra pill, got the master key, tried to rape three young girls from the hotel. Quote from the friendly security guard, "walk in pants on, walk out pants off". If you are heading off to this hotel in the near future the night receptionist is now a cross between Karl Pilkington and owner of Al's toy barn off toy story 2. Hes a very friendly character, and when we did a Shefki kuqi celebration (research it on youtube) in the pool at 5 am in the morning he remained in good spirit.

If you wish to make friends with the security guard gesture with your hands crossed like hand cuffs and say "Free Ahmed".

Now some valuable information about Gumbet/Turkey. If you're a group of boys you are likely to be rejected or kicked out of most places at 2 am. Hanging around with a group of girls is vital to last the night. Girls, be prepared for the onslaught of sleazy, dirty, sweaty, slimy, greasy Turkish men. All they talk about is sex, literally. If you wish to avoid getting raped or harassed by these men try end the night with your bearings intact and make sure you stay in a group.

If you are a mature adult who would like peace and quiet after 11pm then this hotel is not for you. There are groups of lively young teens who come in late at night making a lot of noise, jumping in the pool who will make your stay unpleasant (us).

On the whole, great/funny holiday but if you are looking for a good clubbing scene go to a greek resort like zante but if you have already booked this place, allow it, YOLO (You Only Live Once).

Room Tip: Room 204 has a cockroach in it and flush cant get rid of any excrement. Room 306 has puke behind...

Just got back from La Maison a couple of days ago with the lads, and if i was to go back to Gumbet again, I doubt i'd choose anywhere else. The hotel itself isn't anything fancy, and if i'm being honest, the showers were fairly rubbish. However the pool, bedding and location more than make up for this, and were actually quite comfortable, particularly after a night out. The food served by the pool is a bit expensive, but most are pretty filling, and suitable for lunch etc..
The people who work at the hotel are second to none, and even warned us about the nature of some Turkish men, however ironic you might come to find that if you visit...
They also keep it clean, even if you throw up in the rooms..

Room Tip: Keep friendly with the receptionist and security guard, so they don't screw you over if you do a...
