I recently travelled with 3 colleagues to Turkey, having never been before. Altough the flight was expensive, I only paid the equivalent of £40 for a week B & B at the Ali Baba Hotel. I imagined a real dive, dirty with cockroaches but how surprised was I. The rooms were basic but clean and the hosts were very accommodating.
It was about 10 mins walk to the main area of Gumbet therefore it was not too noisy or crowded. I was very pleasantly surprised and would recommend it to anyone who wanted a relatively peaceful stay.

Room Tip: Away from the bar area. Some could get a little noisy at night and 2 of my colleagues requested a room change. My room was ideally situated.

Absolutely loved my stay, the staff were really nice and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Food was basic but very enjoyable. Lovely atmosphere and very relaxing. Would definitely stay here again!

Arrived on 14th August with 3 friends. The first room we were given was too close to the bar and so we asked for a room change. This was done without any problems, which resulted in us moving to a lovely quiet room near the dining area and garden.Rooms are comfortable and clean. Towels changed daily. Hotel is in a quiet location with nice surroundings.
Air conditioning and safety deposit boxes are very reasonably charged.
Food and snacks are available.
Staff are really lovely and friendly here, making you feel very welcome.
Pool area is clean and pleasant.
Breakfast is basic and repetitive consisting of bread, olives, boiled egg, tomatoes, cucumber, jam and cheese spread.Tea or coffee. You can order different food but there is a charge.
I would definitely recommend this hotel as it is good value for money and I would return.
We ate quite regularly at Jack's Place in the evening, which is just down the road from the hotel. Staff and food were fantastic and we went back because there was no hassling to go and eat there.
Only about a 10/15 minute walk to the beach. We went to the beach at the Hotel Baba where you don't get hassled to buy drinks etc, but they will happily get drinks or food for you if required. The food there is also good.

Me and my friend have just returned from an amazing holiday in gumbet turkey. This was our first tym in turkey so didn't know what to expect. We stayed at the Ali Baba hotel which was fantastic. All the staff were very friendly and were always there when we needed help. Antonio the barman makes amazing cocktails :) try his sex on the beach or Ali baba cocktail. Breakfast was a little disappointing as we hoped we could get a cooked breakfast, but was only able to get a Turkish breakfast which consisted of, a boiled egg, toast, jam, salad and tea or coffee. This wasn't a problem as we just walked along the beach and had breakfast there. The rooms were pretty basic but that was not a problem for us as we only used them for getting ready at night and sleeping. The rooms were cleaned everyday and fresh towels were provided every second day. The pool was very clean and was the perfect size for chilling in the roasting sun. We only had snacks at the hotel, but they were great too.
In the evenings, we would walk into town for supper. "Jacks" restaurant was awesome. All the staff were very friendly and there was a waitor who was Turkish but had a Glaswegian accent. He was hilarious. If u play candy crush and are stuck on a level, just go there and he will help lol. The food was delicious there. I had steak and it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere in "Jacks" was great. Everyone had a good time when they were there. Also there English breakfasts were delicious too. We went there most mornings as we knew we would be full up.
After filling our faces, we would then go to Ali Baba karaoke pub. Ali the manager was hilarious. He really knows how to have a good time. He always wears fancy dress at night. He even had me and my friend dressing up in onzies lol. He was soo much fun. His cocktails were fantastic too. I think we left there pretty tipsy most nights lol. Oh you must see him spinning on his wheel. Hes crazy.
Another great restaurant was the "Lotus" They served all kinds of food there. We mainly had snacks there as we always went after the beach. but the food was great. Staff were fun too. We had shots of tequila there and what an atmosphere there is. They were singing and dancing when it was shot time. The staff aren't pushy at all. They ask if u want to eat there and if you don't, then they don't hassle you. They always remember who you are and as we are Scottish, they would always shout out "ah hello Scottish". This always made us laugh.
Overall we had an amazing holiday that we will never forget, and we recommend everyone to try Gumbet and stay at the Ali Baba Hotel xxxxxxxxxxx

Absolutely loved my 10 day stay at Ali Baba with my husband.
We arrived in the early hours and had help with our luggage from Antonio who we grew to love!
We had such a great time lazing around the pool all day, chatting to other guests and listening to music.
We used to start our evenings in the Ali Baba bar for a few vodkas (16.5 lira for 2) then go out for food in one of the many restaurants nearby. Occasionally we would go back fairly early and drink at the bar chatting to Antonio and Seb. There was an option to watch a movie at 11pm every night which I thought was a great idea if you wanted a quiet night.
As other guests have said, location is great for bar street, beach and restaurants.
We only ate breakfast a few times even though it was included. This is purely because my husband is celiac so he couldn't eat the bread. It's so cheap to eat out though so we didn't mind at all.
We ate snacks at the hotel a few times and the food was good. The chips are proper chips, not frozen which really was not expected in a 2* hotel!

We met some really lovely people too. I will look back on this holiday as one of the best I've ever had.
With regards to Gumbet; there is a lovely breeze so it doesn't feel too hot. The bars are great and my favourite was Vogue. We are in our early 30's but the age range varies.
The best restaurant was Jacks which is the first one you come to when you leave the hotel on the opposite side of the road. Second best was Annalivia. I will write separate reviews for these.
Wish I was back at Ali Babas. Definitely will be returning next year.
Thanks Antonio and Seb
