“SUPER FRIENDLY HOTEL”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

just returned from 2 weeks at the Serpina 3/9-17/9 had a great time the hotel is spotlessly clean and so friendly the staff could not do enough for you Elo the head waiter is brilliant and the two young ladies in reception were brilliant within a couple of days we only had to walk in and they new our room number, we did the Turkish night and my wife and i have been coming to Turkey for 14 years and this was one of the best , the food was outstanding and the entertainment brilliant ,and what made it special was that Ali the Manager explained what was happening and introduced and thanked all his staff.we did not eat in the hotel in the evening but everybody we spoke to praised the food.
the cheapest and coldest beer in Gumbet must be 'UNCLE FESTERS' 4tl for a large bottle Efes the glass straight from the freezer covered in ice, to eat , my wife is a plain food person so the Colombia steak house was ideal ,Turkish ,fish, pizza, steaks are cooked to perfection,& the steak meal deal is brilliant value , pluss loads of egg&chips, chips& beans, sausage egg chips & beans ,anything you want , The Family Door next to the hotel deserves a mention you must try the Chicken ottoman kebab served in a metal bowl with burner ,if you are a big eater have it by yourself we had it between us and were stuffed.
lastly for good entertainment try Dejavu good family entertainment it didnt mater if you were old ,young ,thin fat, good looking or ugly the lads got you up to join in,& being a wrinkly it made you feel welcome & and when we left on our last night everyone came to say goodbye.

Room Tip: try to get an upstairs room as ground floor can be noisy when people come home from the night clubs...

My friends. family and myself are just back from a 2 week stay at The Serpina Hotel Gumbet. I have stayed there several times over the years and the service just gets better . Ali and his staff couldn't be more helpful especially Engin at the Bar.
Ummahan on reception was great. Any requests we had were met almost at once i.e directions to anywhere, exchange money, more towels for room etc. I even locked myself out of my room on more than one occasion and it was no trouble for her or here colleague to let me in.
The pool staff and waiters were all well mannered, always smiling and made you feel very at ease, they even brought your drinks/food to your sun lounger.
There are plenty of good restaurants and bars close by but the food on offer in the hotel was so good we ate there most days. (Compliments to Chef Ali and his kitchen staff ).
Weekly Turkish Night is a must. Musicians and dancers are fantastic and encourage everyone to take part..
I would definitely recommend The Serpina Hotel to anyone going to Gumbet. I think its suitable for couples and families or even on your own. We met some really people for all over and all ages.

Room Tip: Rooms were great. Plenty space. no problems.

This was our second visit to Gumbet and Hotel Serpina was Fab! Location of the hotel is perfect. Shops next door, 5 minute walk from the beach, restaurants & bars.

We arrived at serpina around 3am, on arrival staff were friendly and carried our luggage to our room, we stayed in room (109), we were a little dissapointed that we did not have a pool view as we had paid quite a lot for a 2 week stay compared last year in Gumbet, However the room was a good size, cleaned daily and towels changed twice a week. The balcony was large & had 3 stools to sit on we were overlooking another hotel and a wall but we just made the most of it. Bathroom is big & shower is Huge (compared to previous hotel in Gumbet).
The pool is Lovely, always enough sunbeds for everyone, however downside is you cannot sit in the sun all day you have to keep moving. All the staff at the hotel were Lovely, very attending to guest needs, taking food & drink orders so you can sit and relax. Breakfast is a Turkish but there is loads to choose from daily. We did pop next door for an English Breakfast one day as we missed breakfast. We did not eat there again as the breakfast was very greasy and the cook was smoking in the kitchen whilst preparing the Food. However, Food at the hotel is lovely, we ate Lunch there a few days and was always pleased.

A must is to attend th Turkish night, Lots of food, drinking, dancing and singing. As a young couple (22 & 24) we did not know what to expect but it was such a Fab Night!! :) Mostly Everyone from the hotel attended... If we were to return to Gumbet would definitely return to this hotel.
TIPS: We drank at LEOS BAR every night (other side of bar street) & went on a boat trip twice in the 2 weeks with the Bar. Boat trips are brilliant, recommended them to everyone there!! NO NAME BAR - the best place for cocktails, was never dissapointed! Columbia restaurant next door to the hotel was the best restaurant we ate at in the 2 weeks :) !!

Me & my friend (19&20) stayed in serpina for 2 weeks. Hearing mixed reviews we went with an open mind wanting to make out own judgements.

We got shown to our room which at first seemed small, but we delt with it & it was cope able for 2 weeks. The balcony was tiny with one crappy stool, and was overlooking rubble & another hotel. This was a disappointment as we were unable to use it apart from hanging bikinis out to dry as that's all that fit!

The shower was brilliant, just right & surprisingly warm every single night, think we got lucky with that one! (room 201) For the last week though we didn't get out towles changed once, and didn't get any toilet roll for the last 4 days.

The pool area was lovely & always enough sunbeds. The poolside staff were lovely & friendly (& not actually creepy!) taking drink & snack requests so you didnt have to move! Be careful though as they add your total up & you pay it when you want. There was an extra 4lyra on ours which we didn't have, but they soon sorted it when we insisted we hadn't had that drink.

This 'amazing Ali' that everyone talks about didn't speak to us once, quite rude in my opinion. Especially after 3 things went missing from our room, you would think he would be the first to help. We reported these to reception, they claimed they would speak to the maid but wernt interested in helping and we never heard anything else about it.

The hotel in my opinion is in a brilliant location, 5 mins from beach, surrounded by places to eat & bar street & the night life is a 10 minute walk away.

Would of stayed here again but just a shame about the missing items. Despite all we had a brilliant holiday & going to stay in a similar hotel next year.

Stayed for 2 weeks with my best friend in August, the hotel itself is really good, great location, great staff around the pool area, always enough sunbeds could not fault it! Would have stayed again however we had items go missing from the room including a pair of earrings I had been given one week earlier for my birthday. Searched the room high and low (even though I know where I had put them) before reporting it to reception. A few days later we found some coloured hair grips had gone missing and a black bra belonging to my friend, all very random and replaceable things but it's not the point! Sure there are safety deposit boxes in reception but you can't be expected to put your underwear in there surely?! We reported the missing items again but not once did we accuse anybody in particular, anyway after we reported it our towels did not get changed for 6 days and we weren't given anymore loo roll meaning we had to use a box of tissues we had brought with us!
Would have loved to stay here again as it is such a peaceful hotel in a great location however after this experience I don't think we will be!
Also beware of the pool! On one side there is like a small hole where all the water gets sucked through to the guttering, however the force of it is so strong my friend got her body sucked into it and it's still sore to this day! There are no warning signs and it is very dangerous, if a child had got sucked towards it they might not have to stength to pull themselves off again!

We are just back from two weeks at the Serpina Hotel and would thoroughly recommend the hotel. The Serpina is located close by the main commercial centre, albeit in a quiet postition, close to the beach, restaurants and bars. We were half board which was value for money, Chef Ali and his team providing excellent food.

The pool is relaxing and the rooms basic, but ideal for a holiday. Boss Ali, the bar staff (Ingin, Musti, Ilo and others) very friendly, good fun and couldnt do enough to help. The hotel was spotless and quiet - probably a couples holiday destination . We will definitely be back. The Turkish night is also worth attending with folk dancing, a live band (with boss Ali) and a belly dancer. There is also a BBQ. The drink and food available all day is also reasonably priced.

Many of the guests we got chatting to were retuning regularly which says alot. Also the reps family was also there which says something. From Ali the boss, the waiter and kitchen staff, cleanerers and reception, they are the most hospitable and friendly people I have met on holiday. 10/10

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool.
