Royal Asarlik Beach
Ranked #5 of 101 Hotels in Gumbet
Reviewed November 1, 2013 via mobile

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the royal asaralik for 2 weeks in October!

When we arrived we where shown to our room where the balcony window wasn't even fitted to the door they had shoved paper between the window and door frame to keep it in place! so we asked to move and we wer then moved to a bigger room!

We wer slightly dissapointed that because it was the last 2 weeks the hotel is open for the season things went down hill everyday the food became less and less there was no entertainment in the daytime and some evening they didn't do entertainment either!

The drinks wer also watered down my boyfriend drank a shot of vodka and said it was deffintly watered down!

On the other hand there wer some lovely staff that worked in the hotel especially goekannn he always made us feel welcome! The hotel is in a great location by bars and shops! The weather was great and both the pool areas wer great! The spa is also very good we had a Turkish bath and bronzing massage which was lovely!

It's just a shame they started packing things away and slacking the last week it was dissapointing as I had paid for all inclusive for 2 weeks and there was no ice cream in the second week and the food wasn't great!

If I was to return to bodrum again I would stay somewhere else and go in peak season as it was very quiet!

Room Tip: do not even contemplate going to this hotel.

We were a group of 3 20-30year old girls. Bad points - it rained one night and there weren't enough indoor tables but outdoor was under cover anyway so it didn't bother us. Thats it. The good points way out number the one bad. Location: right on the clean blue flag beach with plenty of loungers. Only 10 min walk to bar street. Pools : both clean and pretty with bars. Drinks: were not watered down. Wine available 24/7 which is unusual for a/I. Room: we requested sea view which I would recommend. Lovely views. Massive Clean modern room whith a huge balcony. Cleanliness: immaculate throughout. Food: two of us were very fussy and always had a full plate of food. Breakfast omelette man was amazing. Wide range of meat and salad every night. Snacks at relax pool were great too. All food could have been kept a bit warmer. Staff: mostly very helpful and no tips we're requested. Excursions: we went with the men on the beach who are royal azarlik linked and our boat trip was lovely. Lots of drinks and good food. The spa: we ended up having 4 massages and a turkish bath. Good value and professional. We also did a turkish bath outside the hotel. Much cheaper but not half as relaxing. Overall there were alot of moaners present at the hotel who obviously want more than they paid for and it seems they love to write bad reviews. Great hotel and brilliant value for money.

Great hotel very clean 2 beaches 2 pools 6 bars all the different drinks, this is not always the case in turkey re whiskey brandy etc.
Staff were all lovely food was good just can't wait to go back. The main restaurant is on the roof and offers amazing views of the bay and surrounding hills, if you haven't been to turkey before then go and try it and this hotel is a good place to stay.

Hotel is definitely not 5*, not even by Turkey standards! Rooms are clean but basic, beds are hard and uncomfortable, quilt didn't reach the edge of the beds! Pools were freezing and food and service in the restaurant was shocking! Food was cold and unappetising, some form of either chicken or beef stew every night! Salads were ok but not what u want every night for 2 weeks. Tables were never cleared after previous guests and often were dirty from the night before at breakfast, getting cutlery was a nightmare you always had to ask then wait 5 minutes for them to arrive, waiters & waitresses were too busy either on their mobiles or making a fuss of any children there. The weather was quite chilly in the evenings when we were there and they have limited indoor seats, so you could have around a 30 minute wait for a table. The a la carte restaurants were not much better with poor choice and again cold food! The fish restaurant was not open during our 2 week stay! The drinks were awful, watered down , flat mixers and no taste, even the wine was like vinegar, I resorted to drinking beer as it was the only thing not watered down. There was no tea making facilities in the room and trying to get a cup of tea outside of breakfast was almost impossible, there are coffee machines in the bars where you can get hot water, but there was no milk & hardly ever any teabags! I just got the impression that they were cost cutting at every corner and doing everything as cheaply as they could. Gumbet itself is very tired and run down. This was our 4th time to Turkey and definitely the worst hotel we have stayed in, we would not return to Gumbet or this hotel!

Stayed at this hotel for 8 nights from 15th Oct 13, good points location leisurely stroll into Gumbet, service good, staff friendly and pretty ok housekeeping. Bad points charge for safety deposit box, never seen before in 5* hotel, food at best 3* and not a definitive experience of Turkish cuisine most of what was on offer was tasteless and I can honestly say I never want to see another chip in my life. Although this could have been due to the fact the hotel was closing on 31st october and they were getting rid of what they had but it doesn't excuse the poor flavour, However you could eat out for approx £12pp so not the end of the world. Overall not a bad hotel but dont stay here if you expect a 5* experience.

Room Tip: Rooms 416 - 422 have amazing views over the peninsula, but rooms at the back overlook brick walls an...

The hotel was in a good location, by the beach, close to local shops and bars. The weather was still warm mid october when we stayed here.
As it was the end of the season our experience was below our expectation; The reception staff were very cold, and unhelpful with queries. Other staff worked exceptionally hard to meet demand, especially at the lobby bar. Our room was on the third floor, close to the lobby, and it was exceptionally loud, as we could here music from the bars/clubs 24/7! Our shower door was broken which meant every time we took a shower it flooded the bathroom. We informed reception but they didn't bother following up on the issue.
The food was average, the hotel clearly focuses on quantity rather then quality! The food was luke warm at times, and the alcohol was watered down - so don't expect to get drunk quickly. Meal times were hectic and very rushed due to other guests waiting for tables, not quite the relaxing dining experience we were hoping for. Over all, I definitely wouldn't stay here again, as I don't believe the experience is value for money, and the service and facilities were simply average. If your expecting a 5 star experience you will be deeply disappointed!!
