Royal Asarlik Beach
Ranked #5 of 101 Hotels in Gumbet
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Just returned from an amazing 2 week honeymoon at the Royal Asarlik. The hotel itself, the staff, the room, the food and bars were all brilliant I cannot fault this hotel in any way, our holiday was perfect.

Hotel: The hotel itself is beautiful and has amazing views. There are two pools, an activities pool and a relax pool. The stairs on the outside of the hotel take you through beautiful hotel gardens which have a river flowing throughout. There are many bars and restaurants in the hotel. The main restaurant (panorama) has amazing views of the sea and Gumbet. There is also an Italian and a Turkish restaurant which are by the pool area and also a fish and Chinese restaurant. The bars are great especially the green bar by the relax pool and the Marine bar. Not once did I think the drinks were ‘watered down’ I sometimes found them quite strong! The staff in the hotel are great and were always very helpful towards us. Fair enough some do not speak great English but we found that those who did not speak good English were new to the hotel – they learn as they work! Oozer in the green bar at the relax pool is a great barman and can speak great fluent English. If you don’t like the cocktails or drinks on offer, ask him to make something you like and he will

Rooms: On arrival our room was double booked and we had to stay in another hotel for the night. This was quite an inconvenience for us but the hotel handled the problem brilliantly and gave us a free upgrade of a beautiful sea view room with free champagne, wine and fruit, a free safety deposit box and a free late check out. The room was very clean, spacious and bed very comfortable. Our hairdryer did break one night but as soon as it was reported someone was straight to our room to fix it (these things happen and the hotel cannot prevent from faults happening sometimes)

Food: I have absolutely no idea how people can complain about the food in this hotel. They must be extremely picky or just the type that love complaining. Yes there was no full English breakfast but you are in Turkey – try something new or go out to a cheap pub and get bacon and beans for 3lira! The buffet in the Panorama restaurant was great and there was always plenty to choose from especially from fruit and cakes. Turkish night was the best as there was brilliant Turkish kebab’s that we loved. We visited the Italian and the Turkish restaurants which were both great. The pastry shop in the hotel which was open from 11am – 6pm served lovely cakes and biscuits all day and also a hot waffle and ice cream service from 3pm. There was also a lovely salad bar by the relax pool which served lovely salads, pizza, burgers and chips from 12:30 until 4pm everyday. There would also sometimes be a hot dog stall by the pool in the afternoon. How can people say that’s not a good variety?

Cleanliness: The hotel is completely spotless. Rooms are cleaned every single day and fresh towels always provided. We came back to our room one day with a lovely love heart flower display on our bed. The maids are constantly hoovering the halls – even at night as we were going for dinner. The relax pool had a wooden decking area around the pool which was also always washed down in case it got slippery. The tables at the bars were always tidied quickly – there were never empty glasses left lying around. After a night out we returned to the hotel at 6am and as we walked to our room through the marine bar the staff were hosing down all the outside steps (this was apparently to get rid of any insects).

Acitivies: The hotel is situated in a fantastic spot in Gumbet and there are loads of things to do. The boat trips with Hassan are worth the money. We went on a small trip with another 10 people which was really nice and relaxing and we also went another with a larger group on a bigger boat. The trips take you to 5 different islands, including camel beach where you can ride a camel and also the Black Island where you can visit the underwater caves and get a clay face mask. Al food and drink on the bat trips are free! The entertainment team are great especially Ekrem who is very friendly and takes Archery in the afternoons. A visit to Bodrum is also a must. We visited a restaurant on the beach in Bodrum called the Golden Plate. The staff from this restaurant come to the hotel through the day and ask if you would like to go. They come pick you up from the hotel and take you to Bodrum for free, give you a lovely table by the sea overlooking Bodrum castle then after dinner take you back to your hotel. The spa centre in the hotel is also great. You can use the Turkish baths, Sauna, steam room, indoor pool and gym all for free. We got an anti stress couples massage which was well worth the money.

We would definitely return to the Royal Asarlik for a 2nd year as we had the greatest time here. Do not take any notice of the silly picky bad reviews as this hotel is definitely worth the money.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1409 which was in the older part of the hotel. Very clean and spacious and It had...

We stayed at this hotel last may after reading very good reviews about it , but after arriving in the early hrs we were shown 2 our room which looked directly out at a brick wall no more than 3ft away . not a good start & then as we looked around the toilet handle came off in my partners hand . We immediately went 2 reception & demanded 2 b moved which thankfully we were , although rite at the very top of the building & having 2 get 2 lifts 2 get 2 it & quite a hike , this room was ok with a gr8 view . the facilities i must say were gr8 & the food to . But then we had things starting to disappear from our room , money , cigs , perfume . We reported theses incidents to the staff & management on a few occasions & frankly they didnt give a damn . Although a nice hotel the staff within the hotel were not very helpful at all whereas the one's that worked outside around the pools & snack bars etc were most helpful .

Room Tip: Go somewhere else

We have been to Turkey many times and stayed at this hotel last October and the weather was pretty good for October, we were in the main building with a sea view which I would recommend as some rooms face a courtyard and other guest rooms which were far inferior to ours.
The hotel has a very strange layout and was originally two hotels I believe, this means a slightly disjointed access road gives access to the other part with a further pool which is smaller but more attractive.
The hotel provide easy access to the town of Gumbet and I would recommend a visit to the Columbia restaurant for a steak, very good price and excellent service, tell them we sent you its brilliant.
The food in the hotels restaurant is good for all inclusive and they serve snacks at the other bars, make sure your careful when at the 24hr bar as we had an issue with watered down Bacardi but other drinks were fine and we reported the issue to the management so hopefully this problem wont be repeated.
All in all the hotel was nice with an impressive glass floor at the top of the main building and we took pictures looking down to ground level.
Gumbet itself is quite full on with shop staff trying to get you in but that's Turkey, Take the Dolumus to Bodrum and check out market by yourself its not worth paying to do the trip as it not very far to get there yourself and admire the dozens of boats down there, however if you want a boat trip, there's a boat trip from Gumbet that is very reasonable and great fun and they pick you up from your hotel, we intend to do it again on our next visit.
Do be careful if your female the Turkish men can be quite letchy especially if your blonde and don't go anywhere at night on your own especially the beach, that said you will have a lovely time and get a great tan in the Turkish sun, Happy holidays.

I have just got back from booking my first family holiday. The hotel seemed full of Turkish no English customers to which we were surprised we felt like people were staring at us. Couple of the staff on the 6th floor need talking too them were very rude when we asked them simple questions. Like where is the entertainment tonight advertised? To which we got we are closed we are closed?! The food was boring under cooked and nothing to rave about. We was disappointed with the room we got as it was a average 3 star the sofa bed was broken however the room was cleaned to a good standard daily. We had to leave the hotel at 12 even though we didn't fly til 11pm that day. We asked to keep it on as we had a young child which was a charge of 75tl til 7pm which is 7hours when we got to reception in the morning to arrange we got told no. Hotel full you will just have to walk around which is disappointing as we were homeless for 11 hours no where to shower in the heat. Upset I paid £850 for a week for the hotel for 3 people. Disappointed to say the least. Not 5 star. No way.

Went for the second year running between 5 August and the 12th. Another superb holiday!!!!
The hotel gets better and better, the food was amazing, loved Turkish night which coincided with the end of Ramadan so a big party was held with fireworks, huge cake and all the staff having a fab time with the guests.
The entertainment team of Umit, Sabrina et all were fantastic, plenty of pool games and fun, the dj was awesome!!!!!
Our room was room 201 relax room for a family of 4, the room was massive, clean, and ,modern, stocked free mini bar.
We will be returning again!
Also agree wit Lee that the spa was amazing with Adem and the boat trip is well worth the money!!!
5 stars from me!

We stayed at the Asarlik for two weeks starting on 25 Aug 2013. Everyone has their own opinions and reviews of this hotel vary, however; my opinion and personal experience of this hotel is a good one. In fact I have just come back from one of the most friendly hotels I have ever stayed at. There are hotels that are more five star than this one, I wouldn't argue with that, but the staff at this hotel are absolutely wonderful.... they made our holiday so relaxing, fun and so so special. I would like to personally thank them all and wont name them so not to show favoritism as they all know who they are, especially if I say our names... Lee, Elaine and Francesca.

You want a Turkish bath... go and see Adam inside the hotel... really nice man and "his girls" as he calls them are very good. they really relax you and know how to pamper you. Take one of the massage options and you won't go wrong but do it in your first few days, it gets you off to a good start.

You want a boat trip... Go and see Mehmet who is situated at the beach gate near the amphitheater. If you want a peaceful boat trip then take the small boat option with captain Kenan and his young apprentice Jan... you'll soon be fluent in Turkish too.

Want to eat out..... Take a walk out of the relax pool beach gate, turn left and walk towards the other beach gate, stop at the Angel. Speak to Joey and you will dine like a king with the most beautiful setting to boot.

As I said earlier, this hotel is probably more a four to four and a half star but the staff, cleanliness, food and the absolutely perfect setting make it a six star.

Want a fun night out... Go to Smileys, I'll say no more than that.

All in all we had a great relaxing holiday and even the wife said she would like to go back to this hotel which is not normally her style.

Go there and make you own mind up.

Room Tip: I can only say that room 513 has a lovely sea view.

We went here for a girls holiday and absolutely loved it!

Our room was nicely decorated and clean, there was plenty of room for three of us.

The pool area was fantastic, there was a quiet pool and an activities pool so you have a choice of where you would like to relax ( we chose the quiet pool, they played good music and there was no children) in the activities pool it is more for children and offers fun activities like water aerobics.

The spa was fantastic- I would recommend the Turkish spa treatment at the start of your holiday as it gets your skin ready to tan! Me and the girls had a real giggle and for the money it is worth it.

The buffet restaurant was nice- however i would be cautious when eating the meat over there.... Their version of cooked is very different to ours- this also goes for boiled eggs! The range of puddings was fantastic and they also did a huge BBQ every evening (the meat on that was cooked well!) with lots of salad and extras.

There was also a choice of several different restaurants which were all to a high standard.

During the day I would recommend the pool bar at the quiet pool... They do the most amazing burgers and nibbles.

The cocktails there are fantastic and we really rated the variety of drinks available.

The hotel is gorgeous, some really nice features. When you first arrived it was a bit of a maze as it was so huge but after a couple of days we found our room fine!

The location of this hotel is just perfect. There are other restaurants around the hotel if you fancy a walk around or a bit of a change.

The shopping that is available is out of this world- I would even visit just for that! If you like you're bags, shoes and sunglasses you are definetly in the right place.

If you love the night life it is just a 5 minute walk away- loads of clubs and bars where we had some of the best nights of our lives- really busy and an amazing atmosphere! Better than any club experiences I have had on other holidays, there is a pasha and a Irish bar.

However if you are not one for the nightlife... Unless you wander up to the strip late at night you would not even know it was there, you cannot hear or see it in or around the hotel.

The beach is just behind the hotel and is gorgeous, lots of watersports and boat trips available.

When I go back to turkey there is no doubt I will be going there- amazing!
