Royal Asarlik Beach
Ranked #5 of 101 Hotels in Gumbet
Reviewed June 24, 2013

just returned from our 10 night stay at the royal asarlik hotel and we all had a fantastic time. the hotel was spotless, the pool areas were beautiful and the food was gorgeous. we really did have a fantastic time, all the staff work so hard, the entertainment staff are amazing we would like to say a big thank you to umit who was so friendly and made our holiday such fun. we are hoping to return next year but would prefer a quieter room as you could hear the music from bar street until the early hours in the room we were in.one of our best holidays by far.

Having stayed at various 5 stars in Turkey, I have to say this hotel is not in the same league. It should be 4 star at most.

Rooms were definitely not 5* quality, the beds were hard and small. Increasingly despite paying premium price for all inclusive, there is a charge for the safe and internet downstairs (unless you have A LOT of patients with the dodgy wi-fi) I've come to expect this now, but seriously these little things are annoying to guests who have already spent lots of money.

The beer is definitely watered down, as are many of the other spirits. Table service for drinks seems to only apply to certain groups of people (maybe based upon nationality, or highest tippers) despite tipping rather generously through out. Despite being a 24 hour bar, when we came back late from an excursion the bar staff refused to serve us and pointed at the tip box (all of us stone cold sober) asking for 8 Lira per drink.
Hard to relax by the pool with relentless characters trying to sell you trips/massages and water-sports.

The animation team work hard, but reveal their sinister side at the end of the holiday with relentless attempts at selling CD's. The 'entertainment' was very basic and generally poor, extremely slapstick and took painstakingly long to get going. This was also true of the entertainment around the pool.

Bar staff were generally rude, apart from the odd one or two who maybe would smile after eventually serving you (despite you being the only person at the bar).
Food was very samey and useless if you are a vegetarian. The al la cartes were terrible, despite having menus when you book them, I was annoyed to sit down and be delivered a set menu with the waiters shrugging there shoulders when I said I was a vegetarian. These 'restaurants' are supposed to be just that, why have a menu at all if when you turn up, they just give you what they feel like that day. If you are a vegetarian, I would advise you state this to the guest relations before the booking.

The overall 'feel' of the place lacked any real class, and due to the issues above I would be very reluctant to recommend this hotel to friends and families. There are some really nice 5*s in Turkey, unfortunately this is not one of them. Sincerely disappointing.

Room Tip: Room in a different hotel.

Royal Asarlik Beach is a fantastic hotel we returned from a 2 week family holiday on the 3/6/13. This was our 7th time in Gumbet and our 2nd time at this hotel and both are amazing.. The animation team work very hard day and night to keep guests entertained. The food is really nice plenty of choice. we went to the al a carte Chinese one night and I was disappointed with this meal. You can have ice cream and cakes from 11am-6pm this must be reasonably new because when we stayed 2 years ago they did not have this. Rooms are clean and spacious. This time we had a room in the new part of the hotel at our request last time we stayed in the older part of the hotel I would say that the rooms in the older part of the hotel were much quieter at night. We found that this time in the new part of the hotel we could hear music until about 4am last time we couldn't hear this. If you go to turgretries market be careful. We bought some sweatshirts which were about 50 lira each. we tried the tops on at the market but when we can got back we noticed they had swapped them for all small tops which were not the ones we tried on and it is a little far to take them back. You are better of getting therm in Gumbet. We found one shop selling for about 55 lira and they were much better quality. On our last holiday to Gumbet we did some really good trips but his time we didn't get on so well. We book our trips through forget me not travel next to the hotel. We booked the water park which was fine. We booked the village tour which was not great the bus was late picking us up so this may be the reason but we were suppose to visit a mosque and a school but never did. We felt like the village tour was quite rushed and we did not see what was promised. we also booked to go Kos our coach did not turn up after waiting an hour we caught a taxi and just made the ferry. We kept the receipts and they did refund the money. Forgot to say the spa at the hotel is very good lots if treatments just ask for Adem. I cant wait to back again but my wife wants to try somewhere different next year.

I just returned from a week's stay at the Royal Asarlik, and I have nothing but praise for this fine establishment except for a few minor drawbacks. The location is near the Bar street in Gumbet, which was teeming with young and chic holidaymakers from all over the world, it could noisy until the early morning hours so if you're looking for quite this is not the right place for you. The food selection was heavenly and with a variety that suits every taste and this hotel is extremely generous, and if you like Chinese food make sure you book that Ala Carte and believe me it was very delicious but the portions were tiny which i did not understand why, there's also a station near the pool for ice cream, pastries, waffles and fruits plus a hot dog cart for the kids. The beach area is small but lovely and there'e bar for all the refreshments on the sunny days. The personnel are the best ever, with special thanks for bartenders Igokmen and Sinan. Now the rooms, which are not 5 stars rooms and the bathrooms need major maintenance. Overall, very nice hotel and could be much better

5 star hotel it wasn't, more like a 3 star
The positives about this hotel, the staff was fantastic, roof top restaurant views was fantastic, food was ok. met lots of people from england and europe had a fantastic time.
The negatives about this hotel, the bars were bare of any visible drinks displayed and decor.
the local drinks were watered down ie white spirits gin, vodka, rum. the local beer was just as bad. the layout of the hotel wasn't user friendly either , to get to the beach and the pool, you had to either go out the main hotel entrance or side entrance of the hotel via a side road which led onto private residents propertys.

Value for money definitely not.

Dear Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking the time to review our Hotel and posting your comments here on tripadvisor. We are happy to learn that you were happy with our staff and food service , as well as view of the hotel. However we are very sorry to read that you did not enjoy the Efes Pilsen Bear which is one of the best bear brand in Turkey that we usually recieve very good compliments about this. Your comment about watered down gin, vodka and rum has been taken into considiration and discussions continue on the issue with the Beverage company that we work with. Royal Asarlık Beach Hotel own 2 private beaches and offers 2 options to its guests part relax and activity . Our Guests are mostly happy to have 2 different alternatives that they can choose .
Dear Valued Guest, Thank you once again for your valuable feedback as it helps to constantly review our service level and understand our guest’s expectation.
Wishing you all the best and look forward to welcoming you again in Royal Asarlık Beach Hotel.

Just back from a week in this Hotel cannot fault it at all, would recommend to anyone, great food and plenty of choice, spotless rooms cleaned everyday. Staff would do anything to help if needed always smiling. 5min walk into Gumbet and a dolmas ride away to Bodrum. The only thing I could complain about was a noisy nightclub in Gumbet that blasted music till about 5am but to be honest we got used to it and never stopped us from sleeping. Right on beach which is lovely and clean, plenty water sports to choose from if you fancy a go, all in all fab time and will be going back next year. :-)))

Room Tip: Choose room either sea view or garden view as this is furthest away from noisy nightclub in Gumbet.
