Gumbet Beach Resort
Ranked #11 of 34 Gumbet B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Stayed at this hotel from 27th September to 4th October. When we first arrived were given ground floor room and asked for a change as it was in the corner with no view or sunlight. Next day we were offered 2nd floor which had a fantastic view. Can not agree with previous review in any way, the bar and restuarant staff always polite and helpful. Ate at the hotel several nights never had a bad meal. Far enough away from the barstreet to be able to get a good night sleep. Bronze corner bar was very good only place we could find that sold guinness. Day trip to KOS well worth the money. Never needed to wait for dolmus. Bitez beach 10mins awayby the dolmus or curtesy bus from the Ambrosia Hotel fabulous hotel and restuarant really good food, and beach. Beautiful weather every day. Had a great time.

Room Tip: 2nd or 3rd floor

Well here we go,arrived at turkey at to wait over an hour befor we set off to our hotel.aftet an hour we arrive at our hotel but did we , we got off the coach off to reception only to find its the wrong hotel, back to the coach but the coach as gone . So after a 45 min walk down a hill in the dark with suit cases we find the hotel, o dear no a good start but it can only get better , how wrong we we were the room was ok but outdated tv in the room waste of time only one English chennel , not that we want to watch tv .so down for b/ feast Wat a great selection boiled eggs toast cold meats not great but did not expect much , so for the rest of the day not to bad . But now let's get down to the rest of our stay down for dinner to be told what we are having so my wife said we don't want what your telling us to have , after some heated words an a threat of seeing the manager we we offed a choice so my wife had steak my daughter n myself had pizza . So we waited for our meal so the steak n pizza my wife took a bite of the steak n spit it out I took a bite god it was awfull , so that was our meal the pizza was ok but my daughter had our pizza. But we had had enough so the waiter arrived to clear away our plates dressed in dirty shorts bare feet wich were dirty n dirty t shirt , an started to clear away our plates web her got to my daughter s plate he started to eat off her plate befor he had left our table . I thought god can't believe it , it gets worse they all are dressed in t shirts dirty ones dirty shirts or jog bottoms bare feet dirty hands , so we thought we will not be eating there any more even thou we were hb . The next day they asked why we did not eat there where we had gone , to wich ur reply was you did not pay for my holiday so I go ware I Please.the pool was never cleaned the staff were very in help full rude in washed , one day one of them cleaned his feet in the pool after picking them . You will have to get you lounger very early as any one from the beach can use the loungers . Any one from any ware can use the toilets , it's used as a short cut to the beach from the road , your kept wake every night or shud I say every morning around 3am with drunken louts in the hotel opposite jumping in the pool , so if you want to have dirty unhelpfull staff have to get your lounger early crap food have all on sundry using the hote as a short cut then stay here if you want a clean hotel with clean helpful staff an all you would like from any hotel then don't stay here . This hotel is at best a one star , the only staff member. That done all he cud for you is memet other then that dirty unwashed unfriendly staff my advise book some ware else

We didn't stay in this hotel but stopped there for a drink, then for a dinner: good food, nice staff and gorgeous view! There are also many things to do.. You can swim into the sea or the large swimming pool, have a boat trip, many water sports. You can relax and have fun into this hotel.
Sure we will try the hotel next time we come back to Bodrum!

This is a very pleasant place to stay, and it is very civilised, clean, and (mostly) quiet. The pool is lovely, the rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is ok, nothing to write home about, but decent enough given the price of accomodation. The staff is helpful, though they do not have very good english speakers. A shout out here to Mehmet, the night manager, who is an absolute legend, and helped us endlessly with problems from faulty air conditioning, to airport transfers, and shouting at tour companies when a bus never arrived to take us to Kos.

The main downside is the location. It is at the wrong end of Gumbet, which is a truly horrible resort town. The only good part about the location is that it is only a short walk to a bus which will take you somewhere nicer. The beach is rubbish, small, with bad sand, and covered in sunbeds from one end to the other.

One final hint: Try the frozen strawberry or kiwi drinks at the coconut beach bar. they are amazing.

Room Tip: Room 214 had faulty AirCon when we visited.

We were a little concerned after reading some of the previous reviews but we needn't have been. This hotel is small and clean and generally well maintained with a few minor exceptions. Our romm 317 was on the 3rd floor overlooking a boat yard and another hotel pool; we had booked a room with balcony overlooking the sea or swimming pool but found that these were smaller than the one which we were provided. The hotel kindly offered a swap but we decided to stay in the larger room as it offered more space for our group of three adults.
Having visited Gumbet before we stayed bed and breakfast because we knew of many good restaurants providing international cuisine. Check out the Shanghai or the Royal. For a light meal and friendly staff check out the Garden Beach bar which is about 50 yards along the beach from the hotel.
The continental breakfast provided by the hotel was very basic but enough to get us off to a start each day. With the addition of items such as yoghurts and mixed fruits etc the breakfast could have been improved. Other guests complained that there wasn't a choice of evening meal and that they weren't of great quality. However the snacks and meals provided during the day at the bar were of a decent standard and adequate to keep us going throughout the day.
We have absolutely no complaints about the staff at this hotel. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and accomodating and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. We quickly felt that these people were our friends and when you consider the long hours that they work it's surprising that they can continue to smile and joke with guests into the early hours.
The pool area isn't particuarly big but it is a great environment for peaceful relaxation. If you prefer the beach it's right on the doorstep and the hotel has it's own free loungers not just on the beach but also on a small jetty. Water sports are available close by (for a price) and the centre of the resort is only a ten minute or fifteen minute walk away either along the beach or alternatively by following the access road away from the hotel.
We've previously stayed at other 'supposedly' four star hotels and paid a lot more for the privalege but it really comes down to what you want in the end. If you are looking for four star accomodation with all the trimmings this is not for you. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday at a small, pleasant hotel at a reasonalbe budget then this fits the bill.

Room Tip: The rooms with pool views are generally smaller than those at the corners of the building. Rooms end...

My partner and I arrived at the hotel on the 18th April 2012 in the middle of a torrential storm...after checking in we went straight to our room (with balcony), housing most importantly a comfortable bed along with a fridge and storage space amongst other bits and pieces. The air conditioning is chargeable although I believe this to be the case in many establishments across Turkey, particularly in those charging so little per night.

The hotel is literally beside the beach with its own restaurant and pool, which I imagine gets very busy during peak seasons. With only 28 rooms our stay was very quite - something which we were hoping for. The location is a 5 minute walk from the start of the main streets of Gumbet packed with shops, bars and restaurants which can be pretty noisy, although we didn't hear anything whilst in the hotel at night.

The local bus service leaves from the top of the hotel road every 10 minutes and for 2.75TL per person it will take you through Gumbet and onto Bodrum where we had some fantastic fresh seafood and many amazing kebabs!

We did purchase a trip through a rep to visit Ephesus with an overnight stay and onto Pumukkale - the trip to these sites was fantastic although the journey time is very long featuring the usual trip to gold centres etc.

I had read a few reviews on here for this hotel before going and wasn't too impressed. However, the staff at the hotel and restaurant were fantastic, always attentive and friendly going out of their way to be helpful - making the holiday that bit better.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Gumbet Beach Resort Boutique Hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return. For the price this hotel is more than worth it. Realistically, if you're looking for an equivalent British 4/5 star, customers should look to a much more expensive hotel.

Recently visited for 5 days with my 19 year old daughter.

Albeit a basic small hotel without all the trappings of a star chasing establishment, we were made so completely welcome. I cannot wait to return just to see the wonderful friends of both staff and guests that I made during a 5 day visit from 20 -25 April 2012.

The position of the hotel on the beach is just perfect alongside a working boatyard, a joy to watch the launch of a winter's hard graft of keeping boats afloat.

The staff were the best bit.

Rooms are lovely for the price.

Food is Ok but not gourmet.

Drinks are expensive.

Wouldn't have missed it for the world

Room Tip: My guess is the top floor for the views is best. we were on 1st floor and what would have been a gre...
