Travelled with partner in October 2011. Nice location away from the much louder drinking strip - thank god we werent in a hotel there!! Very basic accomodation, no tv in room, naff shower, bit generally cleanish. 5 minute walk to beach. Staff were fairly friendly, though the old man who runs the hotel is a bit moody - his son is the only one in the hotel who speaks decent english so deal with him over any money matters! The owner practically chased me in to the departing bus at the end of our week even though i had explained to him several times that we had already paid for the 2 beers we had late the night before!

My Husband and I and my Brother in law and 14year old nephew have just come home after spending 2 weeks at the Filis, we can honestly say we had a fantastic holiday and will definately be booking up for next year. All the staff are very friendly and we had a good laugh and chat with Alex and his Father. The rooms were basic but very clean and were cleaned everyday. After reading some of the reviews we were abit worried about leaving money etc in the rooms but very often we forgot to return things to the safe and nothing was taken or moved so I would trust the staff 100%. There was always enough sunbeds around the pool and we spent most days there as it was nice and relaxing. The beach is only 5 mins walk so you have the choice. The hotel is 2 mins from the bars and restaurants so you have the choice of a quiet relaxing evening or a mad dancing and drinking evening. We ate most nights in Uncle Festers that is a 2 mins walk and the staff there were also fantastic. All in all we had a fantastic time and can't wait to return in 2013. Thanks to all the staff at the Filis xx

The rooms are ok. En suites functional. Pool is ok though of someone dives in everyone is splashed. The pool music is the same every day. Breakfast is the same every day. Bar is quite expensive but no more than some bars on main road. Air con didn't work properly and is £25 a week not fortnight like some say. Safe is £10 for week or £15 for two. We left small amounts of cash in the room but nothing ever went missing. The karaoke bar next door didn't finish till 5 some nights. It says couples but there were small children there. A few good places to eat. Festers is good. Windy bay, Mistral, Carpe Diem. We ate at a little kebab shop opposite Sandys. Chicken kebab meat in half a loaf for 80p. Efes in Festers is 4 lira but you can pay up to 8 in bar street. The bars have the best rate for changing money. Not the hotels. If you go to Kos take Euros as their bank exchange rate is terrible. Bodrum is just over the hill so easy to walk or bus for 3 lira each way.

The hotel itself was lovley.Rooms very basic but thats what you paid for really. The location was brilliant, close enough to the bars and resturants but yet far away so the noise didnt become a problem at any point. And we managed to find some nice resturant to vist partiulally those by the beach.
The pool also was a good side and usually enough sun beds, very relaxing though the same songs over and over werent the best part.
Food and drink reasonably priced though a friend did have to wait around 30 minutes or so for egg on toast.Seemed more to do with it being left on the side and no one collecting it as there was only us in the bar bit at that time wasnt so much a case of being busy. The breakfast basic but nice at the same time and considering how hot it was you didnt really want much to eat anyway and there was always enough to go round

Getting woken up at 3:00 in the morning on the first night by the Manager wasnt exactly the best start mind.He did seem to be looking for our friends who had left the room 2 hours later to go back to their own.Not really sure why and wasnt the best start to the hoilday having only just arrived that evening.Although Alex did apolgise for the incident, never really sure what that was about or the reasons behind it.
A friend also wasnt sure if he had had money stolen from his room as he seemed to be missing some.So for the rest of the hoilday it was kept in a lock suitcase with no issues after that.I think the location of the secuirty boxes was a bit off putting as they are in reception rather then in the actual rooms

Everything else was however fine..nice little hotel and very relaxing hoilday..after that first night....

My wife and I had a lovely holiday in The Filis Hotel. Must say we had the usual trepidation when we booked our hotel mainly the negative reviews about Alex the owners son. Our personal experience was that we were polite to Alex and he was friendly and helpful to us, we noticed that if you became really friendly with Alex he did enjoy having fun but we didn't see anything wrong with him. The hotel is small but that gives it a friendly feel and all the people we met were really nice. The rooms are very basic but we only slept in it. The pool was very nice, 5ft-6ft so not really for kids or non-swimmers, did have a small pool for little kids..Just a couple of mins walk to all shops ect. 5mns walk to the beach. A nice touch is you don't pay for sunbeds, the restaurant's own them and as long as you buy something, a drink, food which they bring to your sunbed they are happy. Dennys bar did the best steaks, The Captains bar and grill ripped us off and had terrible service. Festers bar was very popular, frankly you are spoilt for choice. The shop keepers harass you a bit as you walk by but not a major prob. The beach is very narrow but on the plus side no long walks to the sea or the toilets etc. all in all we would def go back to the Filis, basic but friendly cheap and homely.Chris n Sylvie. london.

Room Tip: We personally had a 1st floor room. We did ask for that when we booked. The rooms at the far end of...

Overall really enjoyed myself here, few things to look out for though....
Whilst there, there was a few complaints about personal items going for a walk at poolside! Which ended up other holiday makers gossiping about it and resulted in a huge argument. Not nice.
Beautiful and very clean poolside area, Alex owners son friendly once u get to know him but worth a watching, lol.
His father I'll always stick up for him. Alex always asks u to leave room key at reception, which we didn't do...it's my key! Some ppl took fob off key to leave air on on in their room, Alex complained about that, but for £50 for 2 weeks me thinks I'm ntitled to have my air on on whenever I want! After all, I paid for it. Gum bet in itself is a lovely place....filis hotel is basic, but very clean.....heard from a guest that had money stolen from their case, NOT AN INSURANCE SCAM, zipped case and locked....they use a biro pen to break the zip, lock or no lock....please beware ad look after your personal possessions ....the night before we left someone had a personal item stolen from the poolside area, a watch I think....te person was very upset and had informed the hotel but, they didn't do anything about it.

The Filis hotel is a fantastic hotel, very clean and quiet. Only 5 minutes away from all the bars and clubs.
We have been 4 years in a row and intend going back next year for 3 wks instead of 2!
Baba and Ufuk (the father and son) who own and run the Filis are lovely friendly people and will do what they can so you enjoy your time in their hotel.
The pool and surrounds are beautiful, Baba takes care of all the surrounding flowers and trees which include orange trees and banana trees.
Fab hotel have enjoyed are stay at the Filis every time xxxx
Just need to say I left my purse out in my room with credit cards and English money in the whole time we were there and nothing was touched. Will not believe at all that any of the staff would take money from any of the rooms. In all the years we have been going I have never heard about any money being stolen. Xxxxx
