In early September we've spent a couple of weeks at Velena for a second year in a row. It was just lovely. I can't comment about the peak season but in September, once maddening crowds are gone, it is a very pleasant experience. Yes it is modest, but it does not claim to be Mandarin Oriental. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The food is really nice. Oya's magic with all types of Tukish pastry and pasta dishes is another bonus. Watching the full moon rise over the hills while enjoying fresh fish and raki on the little pier is priceless. And finally, the staff is their greatest assett. They are very friendly while still managing to be respectful. My 87 year old mother and 82 year old mother in law are treated like queens. Hopefully we will be back again next year.

We have been traveling all over the world. We always had good experiences. We were dissapointed, with the service , room and hidden menu prices.

They didn't change our towels, we ask them to change our towels they told us they change the towels every 2 days. In the morning dont expect to have a hot shower, because their water is heated by the sun, you can only get warm water after 10.30 a.m. No safe in the room. The quality of the bathroom were in poor condition, shower cubicle and taps were old.The wardrobes were small and was close to the bed,we had difficulty opening the doors. Don't expect to see any professional staff include the owner doesn't has anything to do with the hotel business. If you have any problem they are not going to help, they are only after money. If it is high season, if you like to lay under the sun, you will experience difficulty finding space or if you find a space it is very cramped. We had to go other places because we were cramped. We left pier once and after 30 minutes we realize we left my sun glasses there it was gone. We were very surprised !!!

When we wanted to check out of the hotel, we were shocked because, prices was not written, on the menu of the day, but we realized that, prices of a lunch or dinner was more expensive than best restaurant of Bodrum.

Conclusion, Bad service, No real respect to their guests, expensive menu and I can only tell it was a hell we had to chance our hotel, guess what happened when we told them we want to leave and stay our last 2 days in other hotel, even we let them know 24 hours before that we were going to leave we had to pay 1 day extra.

Condition in the hotel was bad, Staff were not good, Owner has no knowledge of running a hotel business. Expensive menu, no respect to their guests. I still don't understand how someone can write excellent comment about this hotel and lead us to stay in this hell. I opened a trip adviser account only to write about this hotel.

The location is ideal, just beside the sea. Simple and clean bedrooms and bathrooms, set in a beautiful and well-kept garden, with shaded dining area and comfortable bar with a fine view of the coast. We were a party of 11, ages ranging from 2 to 80. The staff were exceedingly kind and friendly, loved the baby, translated the menu when necessary. Swimming is always from the decks, where the staff provide a first-class service of umbrellas, drinks, afternoon tea and cake! Generous swimming areas are clearly defined to stop boats and swimmers mixing. A quiet resort, but plenty to do including a day out in a boat stopping at three different bays for us to swim. Lovely yachts to look at. An ideal hotel for family parties, single women or middle-aged/elderly couples to relax and enjoy a real Turkish experience. But bring your phrase book or dictionary, and some books to read, because it is very rare to find another English speaker. Easily reach other towns including Bodrum town by dolmus or taxi - or closer to Turkbuku (taxi 10 TL). Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There are only 13 rooms - upstairs room have private balconies.

Stayed there for a weekend break with a group of friends. We had to squeeze into a tiny room, grubby and old. Hotel's website said rooms have been renovated but ours definitely wasn't. Have been unnecessarily charged for everything they brought to the breakfast table as if those were part of their standard breakfast, only when leaving we learned those were extras!

The hotel calls itself a boutique hotel, it is nowhere near that, just a simple B&B. Terrible value for money.
Do not recommend to anyone at all!
