“nice family hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2013

stayed there summer 2012 for two weeks my husband and our 3 kids. age 1-5.
We really enjoyed the pool alot it was big and not to crowded, the hotel has a lot of english travelers with family and the rest was scandinavians. the hotel area was nice and clean even so the pool bar. Sometimes the music was to loud but it was never a problem if you asked to turn it down they never hesitated. the food was good, the beach was just a few minutes walk. overall its was a nice vaccation and the staff was among the most helpfull and friendly onces we seen in a long time....they really did everything they could to make things work. So if your not to posh and someone who complaines about everything this is the place for you.

I went with husband and 2 kids (9 & 13yrs) end of June/July for 2 weeks. Booked apartment and transfers through Alpha rooms - no problems at all and VERY cheap - apt €175 total ( aircon extra) transfers €50 total - fab value. We had requested a quiet apt near the small pool on the recommendation of a tripadvisor user, this was a wise move as the pool bar was noisy at night. The complex and apts are very clean and well maintained. The aircon is in the bedroom only but we were ok once bedroom door was left open. Our apt was tiny but cleverly laid out so that storage wasn't a problem. One flaw was that we only had flimsy curtains so it was very bright in the mornings...tip, black bin bags and cellotape sorted it! Our apt was newly renovated. Staff overall were pleasant although we (and countless others) endlessly asked for the blaring techno music to be slightly turned down in the bar to no avail. This was the only downside for us and sadly would mean that we won't return. We met lovely people from all different places in this complex. The entertainment is sporadic and fairly typical, weekly turkish bbq etc, ok but not great. The large pool is lovely both for kids and adults, we didn't use the small pool which was mostly for adults I'd say. We never had a problem getting loungers and it is possible to get shade. The location is super, small stroll from beach, restaurants etc. beach is only ok, not great for kids needing space to race around unless you walk to the far end, which to be fair isn't far. We found the trips (bookable on the sea front) to be great value. Also we found a large trampoline in the water at the far end of the beach that was great craic and free (just buy a drink at the bar if you fancy). We didn't eat in the restaurant on site as we preferred the seafront and this seemed to really annoy the guy there! The restaurants were mostly similar, tasty, good value and catered to most tastes.

Room Tip: If you want a bit of peace ask for an apt near the small back pool

went to summer garden in October 2012.Found the hotel very good value for money. The room was quite small but adequate. No tv,which was a little disappointing. The pool area was fine,ok to chill out,and the staff were friendly.Down at the beach was very nice.If you have a drink the sun beds are free and the food is very good at all the restaurants. We found the entertainment was ok.Price wise I thought it was very reasonable, both drinks and food.the bus service is great and cheap.Bodrum is a must,we went there about 5 times during our 2 wks holiday.I would certainly go there again. One point I must make is that you will have to pay extra for air conditioning but it is well worth it.Finally it's a 3 star hotel in a central location and good value for the money you will pay,Go on and give it a go.

For our 1st holiday abroad we chose this hotel as it was reasonably priced for 2 weeks as SC and it looked so pretty in the photos. We arrived at 1.30 am and was shown to a room that to be honest words cannot describe, i can only say this - the room overlooked a building site, the balcony was overgrown with plants, there were no blankets, just a sheet and pillow caseand that had make up on it, the bathroom was covered in thick black mould, and worst of all the room was filthy, we found a pair of old flip flops in the bedroom. But we were so exhausted from our journey we stuck it out until the morning, we are not complainers and we figured we would sleep on it and maybe it wouldnt be so bad in the morning. When the morning arrived nothing changed except i started our holiday in tears, i thought we had made a terrible mistake and wanted to go home, there was no way i was spending another night in that dreaded room.
We met with our rep and we managed to get another room, the receptionist wasnt too pleased and stood firm that the room had been cleaned and it wasnt as bad as we were suggesting, however we stood our ground and we got another room which other guests had named the dungeon.
The dungeon was a sort of basement room and it was huge, and we just accepted it, grateful we had been moved. BUT this room was damp and had severe water damage throughout, the musty smell got worse as the holiday went on, the bed sheets were damp due to the dampness of the room, we decided to stick it out purely because all we done was sleep there and it was a quiet room and our complaining the 1st time round wasnt well received.

Advice/negatives:
If you want your bed sheets and towels changed put them all on the floor
Lumpy, uncomfortable beds
Take loo roll or buy it out there
The pool area is a little slippery and uneven in places, especially around the kiddies slide
The younger barman was a bit of twonk, we steered clear of him

The positives:
Visually the hotel looks beautiful with lovely gardens and flowers, it just needs some TLC
The bar closes at midnight
Bar food at lunch was pretty good, we didnt eat in the restaurant as there are so many other great restaurants around
All the other holiday makers were very friendly and approachable
The beach is less than a minute walk away, and its a nice clean beach, all loungers are free and there is no hassle.

Surroundings:
Bitez is a little more pricey than other areas of Turkey, the beach front is lovely in the evenings, cocktails on the beach under the moon, a stroll around the hassle free shops.
We ate in several restaurants - The Lemon Tree was really nice, the Ambrosia was lovely, both on the sea front. BUT the best place we went time and time again was the BLUE MOON, not on the sea front, turn right out of the hotel and its 200 on the left. It was fantastic in every way, great value, very friendly and superb food. With the help of my boyfriend they done a beautiful surprise for my birthday, dinner, fireworks, a cake with candles and drinks flowing all night. It was a memorable night. Hassan and Jesus and all the other staff were brilliant and friendly.

We went on a few boat trips which we booked on the front by the beach walkway with Murat, we asked for quiet and relaxing trips and thats exactly what we got. The snorkelling was amazing, the food provided was very tasty and the boats were decent.

Dalman mud baths were great, a long journey but worth it and we saw huge turtles too. The story of the Kings Caves is pretty interesting too if you have a good guide alot can be learnt.

Bodrum market... very busy and ok.

Bodrum Castle is amazing if you like that sort of thing, but its not for the less abled.

Dolmus buses are more pricey than other parts of Turkey, but it doesnt take long to get into Bodrum, but its a taxi ride to Gumbet as the dolmus doesnt route that way.

We did have a fantastic 1st holiday abroad and we would love to visit Bitez again next year, and its a shame to say we will be in a different hotel.

Arrived 4am.. Terrible tiny unbearably hot room - not offered air con.. Asked to move.
We moved into a smaller but brighter upstairs room 3pm the next day so kind of wasted our first day waiting. To be fair the staff are friendly - the only good thing the hotel has

Room wholly unsuitable for S/C - ok for us as we ate out. The bathroom was filthy as were all the items in the kitchen- first thing I bought was cleaning supplies!
I expected basic but dirty is unacceptable.

We did not use the pool - cramped cheap plastic sun beds - like sardines! And I could not see any showers round the pool area. Also pool and hotel full of kids even though it was out of school holidays.

We did eat in the attached restaurant once but then had the waiter annoying us for the rest of our holiday.

Bitez is ok - flat and so good maybe for older people. Relatively quiet which we liked with some nice restaurants. We made the error of visiting Gumbet - horrendous.. Cheap nasty neon drunken streets.. Unlikely we' d return.. Rather go to Kalkan.

You have to pay for air con and for the safe

We were also told we could keep our room on for a fee.. As we were not leaving for airport til 11pm.. We we then told this wasn't possible the day we checked out... So ended up showering on the beach as we had to check out that morning.. Just bad management

Avoid at all costs... Far far better about for the same money

Oh and be warned karaoke and bingo til all hours by the odd people who sit in the hotel bar seemingly all holiday from 10am in the morning til the early hours drinking anything alcoholic ... Think The programme 'Benidorm' and you're halfway there!!

Room Tip: Book a different hotel

I go here every year and every year i have a fantastic holiday Bitez is wonderful you don't go on holiday to stay in the hotel do you, So don't go worrying about all the bad reports on here, A hotel is just somewhere to stay and relax after a wonderful sunny day by the beach. The food
at Summer Garden is ok ive had quite a few different meals there and they are passable but you can get better on the front the mayflower in my experence is the best resterant to eat in.
Ali and Elvis provide the entertainment. Take a bus into Bodrum and from there go and explore Torba is another fab place. I think i have been to every part and i just keep going back i can't find anywhere to match it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room around the small pool its much quiteter

We have just returned from our holiday in Bitez. We stayed at the Summer Gardens complex half board, which unfortunately was pretty poor to say the least! We arrived very late after a very long journey, kids were starving but there weren't any facilities to grab a bite to eat. After putting our luggage into our rooms,we realized that the locks on the patio doors weren't working so was a bit dubious about going out. We ended up walking down to "the Lemon tree". They were very welcoming and made us a lovely meal.

Breakfast at the hotel consisted of one selection of cereals, plastic cheese and very dodgy meats, oh and lets not forget the cold chips and sausage! We booked half board as we knew the kids would be eating like horses. We gave up and ate out for the best part of the holiday. The hotel had practically closed down and even emptied the pool the day before we left.

Bitez is a lovely resort but not really for young people. It is a little quiet especially in October so wouldn't recommend unless you go in peak season. We were also hounded by every restaurant owner to eat at their restaurant. The only way we could get away without being accosted was to walk with armfuls of shopping.

I would avoid going to the summer gardens half board. The apartments were fine but needed a little maintenance. The price we paid probably reflected in the quality of the food so I think it was a lesson learned!
