“Back to Greece and Spain for me!!!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2011

I travelled with my friend to Bodrum for A week away to relax, or so we thought. We had booked at the Magnifique Hotel but the road was dug up, so Thomas Cook rang us 3 days before depature to say we were now being moved to the Playim Ayaz. Having checked in we were shown to our room, small but clean. The balcony was big enough for one person. We complained and were given a room with a bigger balcony. We found bartering a complete nightmare, even having to make offers for drinks in bars. Average drinks were 6-7 Lira about £3, much more than we would pay in Greece or Spain. The Hotel staff, almost all Male, felt the need to wink and whistle at us.Worse still, they crept up whilst we were sunbathing and grabbed our feet or touched ears etc. We told lots of them we dont like this but ended up using Sami's bar to avoid it. Shorty was the exception to the rule, he was friendly without being sleezy or annoying. The DJ, who was also the entertainment officer was very young, nothing wrong with that except he liked listening to very young music, very loud. Considering the average age was about 40 this didnt go down too well. Food, could usually find something to eat but was nothing to write home about. In the dining room A diet Coke which was 4 Lira when we arrived, suddenly went up to 5Lira half way through the week, remember thats £2.50. Pool was nice, Hotel right on pebbly beach which is nice and room was very clean. Manicure in the spa was good. Turkey not for me felt as though people were only interested in parting me from as much of my cash as quickly as possible. If you try to ignore the heckling, outside every shop and bar, you feel quite threatened when they start speaking in Turkish, in aggresive manner.

Room Tip: Take your own drinks in the dining room, save cash

I have just returned home from a 1 week stay at the Parkim Ayaz (I travelled with another 40 something friend) we did not choose to stay here, we had booked to stay at the Magnifique further up the beach however 3 days before our holiday Thomas Cook rang to say that the Magnifique was closed (it was not) due to roadworks and we would have to be moved to the Parkim Ayaz, with only 3 days notice there was not much we could do and by the look of the reviews it seemed fine!!!
When we arrived we were allocated a very small room, with the tiniest balcony ever, only one person could sit out on it at a time, the hotel staff were very helpful and offered us an alternative room which was marginally bigger. We then went for dinner, the dining room was like a school canteen and over 7 nights we never got charged the same price for drinks!!! (a can of diet coke is 5 Lira = almost £2 (I thought Turkey was cheap) and a large beer was anything between 5 and 8 Lire depending on who served you!!! The food itself was ok some of the time but most of the time it was just mush, definitley not 4 star. The staff in the dining room often cleared your plate away before you had finished and meal times always felt like a rush. Breakfasts were atrocious, ok if you liked salad, eggs or pancakes, that was it.
The staff at Cozzy's bar made us feel uncomfortable, as two 40ish ladies married with children and grandchildren we did not appreciate being leered over, sworn to and touched. It took the staff a couple of days before they got the message that we did not like the sleazy attention, in the end we spent most of our time in the bar next door (Sammi's) where we were always treated with repect. Shorty who was the front of house man at Cozzy's was the exception and he was lovely, he kept the others in check, the DJ thought he was in an 18-30's bar in Ibiza and insisted on playing BOOM BOOM music all day, this eventually stopped when Shorty pointed out that he was emptying the bar with , his music. The DJ seemed to be there for his own entertainment.
The main shopping street was unpassable for men trying to lure you into their bars and shops and if you said "No thank you" or ignored them they then insulted you in Turkish.
What was supposed to have been a relaxing week away became a battle of wills and constant hassle, I will never return to Turkey.
On a positive note, the lady that cleaned our room daily was brilliant, clean towels daily and fresh bedlinen 3 times in the week, she was a Gem.
Oh and before I go, in Bodrum airport on our return they wanted £5 for a can of diet coke and £7 for a large beer, needless to say we waited until we had got on the plane before we purchased a drink. We were ripped off constantly throughout our stay.

got back about 6 hrs ago. we had a fab time and would recomend this hotel to anyone. we had no grumbles about anything. the rooms where not big enough for the village dance but we only sleep in ours. the food was of good quality and plentiful the place was spotless and plenty of sunbeds. if you want a good night the cozzy bar on sight was brill and the staff superb. my husband and i had a turkish bath on sight 60 tl for 90 mins of bliss highly recomended.

We stayed at the Parkim Ayaz in June for a week this hotel is in a great location it is very close to the beach and to the nightlife and shops it is right on the hotels door step.
The food was good and the staff was very friendly and welcomeing, we thought the nightlife was great because there was a selection of buzz.
There is a great waterpark up the road in Bodrum which we enjoyed we even went twice.
You can book boat trips outside the hotel on the beach we recomend Sammy Boats because his boat trips are not over crowded, we had a few stops on the boat which you can get off and ride a camel at one of the stops and another stop at these caves we also had swim stops and lunch on the boat this was a great day out and there was a nice breeze on the boat.
Overall this holiday was very good for the value of money and would like to go to the Parkim Ayaz again we have been to turkey twice Once in Gumbet and the other time in Antalya and we prefered Gumbet because of its great location :).

Having visited Gumbet in the past (Sept 2007) I was somewhat shocked to find the roads all dug up and hardly anyhere open, although, by the endtheweek there was a massive transformation, with even sand being delivered to the beach. The earlier positive reviews were all correct and it was an excellent hotel to stay in. Evening meals were beautiful, although, breakfast was not a reason to get out of bed if you had a late night. Would have no hesitation in going back to Parkim Ayaz but will leave it until resort fully opens in future

Hotel is situated right on the beach in a fabulous location. Rooms are very clean but bit on the small side with a small balcony, but how often do you actually spend time in your room?? I travelled with myself and 9 year old plus other friends, poolside was fantastic for kids with a flute slide which the kids loved and the gardens were well tendered and real pretty. Stayed on an all inclusive basis and found the food delicious, considering im a very fussy eater and was weary of going all inclusive, had something different for the whole 2 weeks we were there. Staff were very friendly, air con in rooms which was well needed. All round a fantastic hotel.

We stayed at the parkim ayaz hotel for 2 weeks from 02/08/2010 .my husband who is the fussiest eater in the world!! never ever complained re the food and my two eldeat 12&14 also had plenty of choice, my 3 year old was over awed every night with the choice of deserts, it was truly lovely. Our room was huge and spotless and so was the rest of the hotel and surrounding areas, for people who have submitted bad reviews , it must have been a different hotel, the staff were divine and couldn't do enough for us so much so we are returning in august 2011 with my parents.Thankyou Parkin ayaz for a truly wonderful stay.
