Been home a week now after another two fabulous weeks holiday at Tosunoglu our second time there this year thats because we enjoyed the place so much. I love the big light spacious rooms which are kept clean every day, I have to say the kitchen area is basic but i did not find that a problem. The family that run the Tosunoglu are lovely and are always there to help if needed. The pool is Fabulous and the gardens around the apartments are lovely and well cared for by the hard working gardener. The bar is a good place to have a drink and a snack and you are well looked after by Lucky and Jimmy. We have already booked to go back again in June next year and look forward to it. The location is good only a short walk to Bar Street and just a bit further to the beach.

This was our first stay in Turkey and it didn,t disappoint. The rooms were lovely and big, the maids came in every morning and cleaned. The owners couldn't do enough for us, the pool was gorgeous and lucky, jimmy and Hussain were all so helpful and friendly. One of the best places we have ever stayed and we will be back next year. Thankyou to everyone who made our holiday soooo fantastic!!!!

Stayed for 2 weeks Aug/Sept. Massive rooms cleaned daily. Huge pool lots of sunbeds. Lucky the barman is a complete nutter in a good way. Owners Mehmet and Ebo are great hosts and have a lovely family. Theme nights and good food all take place around the bar which has a great atmosphere. Not far to walk to shops, beach etc and only a short dolmus ride to Bodrum. Met some fantastic people and had a brilliant time. Thanks to you all for making our holiday so memorable. Paul & Jan

just been to the tosunoglu with my partner, what a let down it was, apt was very basic to poor, shower was a laugh my girlfriend had to sit on the floor to wash her her,the shower was appalling, the balcony just about held the two of us with no room to spare. sleepless nights every night,we came home more tired than when we left home, there was a cockerel, yes a cockerel making all kinds of a racket right through the night, the bar stayed open till the last person had gone, this was six am on two occaisions, definately a hotel for insomniacs. lucky the barman had an atittude,he expected a tip for everything and if he didnt get one he didnt want to know you.i am an honest reviewer, and in my opinion,GIVE THIS ONE A MISS.

Room Tip: all rooms are the same,AWFUL

Me and my partner stayed in these apartments for 7 weeks this summer from 3rd July to 21st August, so as you can imagine we saw many people come and go and got to know the family owners and staff very well. This was my 7th time in Gumbet and 1st time staying in the Tosunoglu. Every year we have stayed somewhere different but for the first time we have already booked to go back to the Tosunoglu again next summer.
The family were very welcoming on arrival, extremely friendly everyday and always dealt with any hiccups immediately. The only two times we required help was to reseal the shower hose which was done straight away and the kettle decided to blow the trip so it was replace with a brand new one the same day also.
The apartments were a great size, basic and clean. A lovely cleaning lady and other worker (her husband i think) came to clean the room every day and replaced the towels very couple of days. If u needed a new towel the next day they were happy to give to us. They also made some beautiful decorations with the towels and flowers in the room some days. Yes, the aircon is in the living room and not in the bedroom but leave the bedroom door open and its not too bad. if you really find it too hot there's plenty of room on the sofa bed to sleep 2 people right under the aircon in the living room and its comfy. We also bought a fan for 50Lira in bodrum as we were there for so long. We actually just used the fan for the first few weeks. The pool area was spotlessly clean and the pool was lovely, the cleanest i felt id been in in Gumbet. There was alway plenty of sunbeds, another first for me in any hotel in Gumbet, so no rush to get up in the mornings at all.

Serkan (aka Lucky) the barman is a great guy, always happy to help and always up for a laugh.

Unfortunately there were people there who lost money this year. I cant comment on this but i do know the owners were devastated and genuinely upset as this was something they hadnt encountered before. Me and my partner left are room open during the day when we were at the pool and didnt have any problems during are 7 week stay as did any other people who stayed during the 7 weeks we were there. I do empathsize with the family as it was unfortunate.
One thing i feel i have to refer to is an upsetting comment on a review... 'never trust a turk'. I was truely gutted and angry to read such a stereotype comment. Unfortunately there are horrible people in every country in this world including our own, not just Turkey. I have many genuine and close friends in this country who are wonderful people. My partner is also Turkish and we are expect our first child. Enough said on the matter!

Anyway, please dont be put off by a couple of negative reviews out of tens of so postive ones. This is a super place to stay in Gumbet (and believe me im pretty fussy) and its only a 10 minute dander into the centre of Gumbet.

We cant wait to return, just for 2 weeks, next summer with our bambino in tow :)

To Mehmet, Ebo and family.... Thank you so much for everything. Look after yourselves and see you next year.
PS: For Mehmet-'Come on Fenerbahce!!!!' (sorry Ebo) ;)

Returned from Turkey a week ago after a three week stay at these apartments...this is my 3rd stay here, and 9th visit to Gumbet...I noticed on arrival the weird slap dash painting of the apartments and the not fully cleaned apartments and pool area, but it was ok and could easily be ignored, and we could have a good holiday. I assumed it was the fact that the year before when we where there, the holiday company 'holidays 4 u' went bankrupt and as this was a h 4 u only hotel they lost a lot of money. I did feel really sorry for the family at that time...
This year I went with a large group of friends and family, and where all really looking forward to our holiday as we all saved hard for this holiday as most people have to do....
Sadly on our third day we realized we had money stolen from three of our safes which are kept in the wardrobe in the bedroom we lost between us at least £1,500..... we of course reported this to the two brothers who own the hotel, both very shocked this had happened and could give us no explanation as to how this was possible, we where truly sucked in by their explanation and they called the police. The men in our party stayed in the office for over two hours with the police and the outcome was firstly for us all to go into Bodrum to be fingerprinted (I was totally against this as I didn't want my son at 16 to be fingerprinted, the other mums in our party felt the same ) and secondly the police would come to our apartment's and take prints from the safes, ... we couldn't even understand how this would work as the safes where not cleaned from one holiday user to the next so how many prints would be on the safe ???..
We had a group meeting between us all and once we had checked our insurance ( some had to pay a £150. excess and can only claim back £160...) we decided that between the finger print taking and the insurance it really was not worth going through all what had to be done. So we agreed to not let it get us down and to enjoy the rest of our holiday, all be it more money aware and not as casual with the spending. We all got new safe deposit boxes from the ali baba a hotel very close which where cheaper but also had cctv cameras on them 24 hours a day....
You can imagine are horror to find out the next day that other people had money stolen from their apartments as well the week before we had even got there....something the brothers did not tell us about !!!!..I felt so angry and betrayed by them, as it me that had arranged the holiday for all of us and I had gone on about how wonderful they where etc....
I will not go back to these apartments again and feel so sad for the likes of 'lucky' are barman who is a great person and will always be a friend.
I have read on here other peoples comments referring to what had happened to us and almost saying they do not believe us... well they should just be thankful it did not happen to them, and in respect to the fingerprint taking would you have your child's prints taken and left in a different country ???
This is a site to help people make the choice of where to stay, yes great size apartments, yes good location.... but for your own money safety think again

We stayed at these apartments between 12th-19th August! The apartments are very very basic but clean, the only downside with the apartment is the air-con isn't in the bedroom which makes sleeping in there near impossible, especially in August!!. Air con is £30 or £10 for a fan.

Other than that we couldn't fault it! hotel is 10 minute walk from bars/restaurants and the beach. Lucky the barman at the hotel is hilarious, really helpful, will do anything for you and makes the holiday! sunbeds are always available which means you haven't got to go down early with a towel. Family at hotel were really helpful! They had two theme nights whilst we were there, turkish and curry night! turkish night had dancers and a BBQ which is good if you didnt want to go into bar street for a night.

When we stayed at the hotel a couple were saying £800 went missing along with their bag, we never had a problem though and the hotel owners seemed devastated that money had gone missing . As we checked out the owner showed us a wallet which someone lost a while back and it still had all the money, bank cards, drivers license etc, they've been trying to contact the person but no answer, so if anyone lost a wallet get in contact with the hotel because its there safe and sound!!!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wants a chilled holiday with the option of going into town which is lively and full of lovely bars, restaurants!
