Institute of Nautical Archaeology (INA)
Ranked #24 of 75 things to do in Bodrum City
Attraction details
Reviewed February 25, 2012

I was introduced to the Institute of Nautical Archaeology through my father who had been on a couple of dives off the coast of Turkey.
INA currently houses their conservation laboratory in the Museum, which is a must see attraction while in Bodrum. INA has done a lot of the finding and preservation of the artifacts recovered from shipwrecks excavated in Turkish waters and now living in the Museum—one of the finest museums of nautical archaeology in the world.
Although the Castle museum is under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Culture, all the museum exhibitions are overseen by the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, an American non-profit organization with bases both in Bodrum and Texas, United States of America.
Visit INA’s website for more information on the work this great organization is doing. http://www.diveturkey.com/inaturkey/index.htm

We heard about the INA and called while we were in Bodrum to see if they took visitors. Since they normally do not, we felt honored to have a tour arranged for us. The tour took half a day and if you are curious about nautical archaeology, this is a must see.
