Booked this hotel at the last minute for a weeks holiday and was dubious about reviews, but it does what it says (on the can)..we were given a room on the ground floor just off the pool. The room was small which I was glad I was not there for 2 weeks, where as the bathroom was HUGE..deffinately could have taken a couple of feet from it and made berdroom bigger. It is tired in places but the staff are really good and will help you in any way. The best bit by far is stepping out of the dining room straight onto the beach!!!

Room Tip: Ask for one on the ground floor

So, me and my mum went for a week at the beginning of July to the turihan. Last year around the same time we went for a week and were given a room on the top floor next to the all inclusive hotel next door, only to find then when trying to have an afternoon nap with music blasting out of a speaker on ur balcony isn't very pleasant. However we didn't want to complain and so just tolerated it. However, this year on arrival we asked for a ground floor room, we were shown to room 401 which is on the ground floor right next to the pool!! Oah it was fab, the room was big and airy and couldn't fault it. The rooms were clean dont get me wrong but could have been a lot cleaner, after observing 2 make teenagers as cleaners trying to clean our room.. The major downside to our holiday was that on the second night we were there we decided to go the The Bombay, an Indian restaurant down near the sea front one night. DO NOT GO THERE!! for the next 3 days all 4 (2 grandparents who live in turkey) of us were extreamly ill with sickness and feeling weak and exhausted !! (Suspected food poisioning).. Anyway, breakfast was ok if u like something a bit different, but for me plain bread (as the toaster didn't work) and warm milk that had been left our to have on your cereal wasn't very appealing! Also the bacon is like fried ham and I found the eggs had a individual Taste (nothing like British eggs) and so only once did we ever attend the breakfast at the hotel and opted for burger and chips down by the pool in the afternoon. The waiters were lovely and pleasant however a little bit creapy if you are a young female and alone with them. We had booked tickets to attend the BBQ at the hotel but due to not feeling very well my mum decided to stay in bed that night and so did I, however I thought not to waste both tickets I would go to the buffet and take a plate of food back to my room (chips and rice), this was not a problem, however when cuing for my food I was approached by one of the main waiters asking if I was single and had a boyfriend back home, I had quickly lied and said I did and tried to laugh it off, but did feel slightly intimidated when I was told that that didn't matter and that we could have a good time by a 40 something year old waiter!! Looking back It seems funny but at the time I did feel rather uneasy. The sun beds around the pool are very limited and so you have to be up early to put a towel down in order to get a sun bed, also the pool is 6ft deep in all areas and so not great for people who aren't too confident in the water! Overall a really nice hotel and the location is fabulous and the main reason we return to this hotel every year as it is central and right on the beach, but not to close to bar street where all the noise comes from.. Looking forward to going back again next year :)

This is my 2nd stay at the Turihan Hotel and this time I brought 4 friends. The hotel is what it is but the staff make up for any short falls. The night we arrived there was a mix up with the rooms but that was corrected the next morning. Overall the hotel could do with a bit more than a lick of paint but all the rooms had working air conditioning and a fridge which is a must in the hot weather. The restaurant staff were fantastic and Mehmet made us all feel welcome and Hamza made us giggle and kept us entertained. The sun beds were free of charge for hotel guests and the staff made sure that your drinks were delivered cold. Have already looked at booking for next year and i wouldn't hesitate to have a solo holiday here as I have always felt safe and looked after!

Room Tip: China Town - 5 mins walk from the hotel is an excellent restaurant. Bar Babylon - near the ATM'...

There are plenty worse than here, within spotting distance.
Been to the Turihan before. There are rooms to avoid and rooms that are bliss. First timers its pot luck for you. The number of people who are 'regulars' gives an idea as to whether its suitable for you.
Walk out of the beach front dining room / restaraunt 5m and you're in the sea. That's the big plus point. The food at breakfast ( we ate somewhere different every night ) is better than the standard Turkish breakfast. Plenty of choice and gives room to experiment. Feta cheese and melon anyone? Swimming pool is relatively small and only accessible from 3 sides. Doesn't bother us. We're 5m away in the sea. There are ample beds on the beach. If it gets full move down to the next section. Beds are free if you buy a drink. Rooms are 3/5 for Turkey. Ours had TV, balcony, air con, safe and clean towels every other day. Just worked out that apart from sleeping we spent 2 hours per day AWAKE in the room. It's 90 degrees, why sit in the room? Staff are pleasant and do their best. English isn't their strong point but neither is Polish German or Dutch. Half a mangled sentence in Turkish goes a long way. Learn some. Overall, would we go back?
See you in September!

The standard of this hotel is split into the good the bad and the ugly. From the start the reception was good but could not access safe in room till next dayeven though we paid for 14 days at £2 per day for it,the room we were given did not have any sheets just a blanket and the room had not been cleaned very well, the was a pair of shoes on the balcony the were still there when we left.We complained to the manager but could not get a full set of bed linen till later in the week.We were not the only ones some got less service than us.
The pool was only one depth 6 foot so unsuitable for non or poor swimmers and too few beds so if you were late getting a towel on a sun bed you did not get one until later when the sun moved to shade beds. The bar and food in the restaurant was good and service we had from that side of the hotel was very good. The beach beds were good and cleaned every day and sunshades were good.Booking out was ghastly the was no help with cases from upper level rooms there was no curtesy roon if your room was not needed you could keep it on till 6pm at a charge of £20 and for just 6 hours was a bit expensive. So the only good points were its on the beach and bar service.

Room Tip: ground floor around the pool were the only ones where you could keep the fridge on when leaving your...

Have just returned from out 4th visit to this hotel and have already booked to go back later in the year. Best thing about this hotel is the location as its a stones throw to the beach and about 5 mins stroll into thr centre of Gumbet. Some lovely little restaurants and bars in the imediate area. Breakfast you are spoilt for choice with ample choice. My only gripe is the rooms could have done with a little TLC in the cleaning dept and a bin would have been helpful not just in the bathroom.Free aircon but they are charging this year for wi-fi 3ytl a day

Room Tip: we prefer the higher floor rooms although its not a high rise

We arrived back from a week at The Turihan a few hours ago. It was nothing different to what I had read in all the reviews. Great staff, clean rooms and an ideal spot on the beach. Would we return? YES, without any hesitation.
There is a Turkish Bath available in the hotel, which seems to compare with other hotels we have stayed in and was very good.

Room Tip: Probably the quietest room in the hotel is 304, which is where we were allocated on arrival. It is v...
