“Bad hotel in good location”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

PROS: The beach (rocky) and pool are good and overally well placed. Good the possibility of getting taxy boat right from the private shore to get the center in minutes.
CONS: staff very rough and no english. No AC else from the room. Faulty locking card of the room. The basin in the bathroom just crashed down itself at 6 AM, and no one came to fix it... the last two nights we've been left without, and at the check out they had the nerve to charge us the damage... Of course, I did not pay for that, but still I don't believe it's real...
But if you aren't a sensitive kind, the hotel is overally enough enjoyable

Room Tip: Avoid ground level floor

Well, my room smells very bad, and the sewage system was broken.

Cleaning lady left the door unlocked and someone broke in and took the card that powers electricity, the TV remote and shampoo. The lady also smells bad.

They made us check out at 12 noon and our plane was at 2 AM.

NO employees that speak english, and they are too lazy and sometimes mean.

Reception is always empty, and they rarely answer phone calls.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST.

On my last day, I checked out at 12. The receptionist told me in bad english that I can stay at the pool and beach of the hotel and do whatever I want. During night time, I went to the usual dinner buffet that I had already paid for before the vacation. They saw me enter the room. As I was eating, a guy asks me for my room number. I said "539, WHY??" He smiled shamefully and awkwardly and answered in TERRIBLE english "just control control" A fee minutes later, another guy approaches me and says "Sir you already checked out, and now you have to pay 120$ for this dinner".
WITHOUT A WARNING. They set a trap.

TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel was OK, but we were very displeased with the staff. We couldn't check into the hotel when we got there since the rooms were not ready. We decided to stay by the pool, but they couldn't sell us beverage nor give us towels since we didn't have a room number. Very strange.

The hotel is not far from the city (5-10 minutes with a taxi), and the pool area is nice and clean. Great view from the rooms.

This hotel was a mix of great and irritating -with a tiny bit of effort and common sense it could have been perfect but overall it was friendly and enjoyable.
The location is lovely -sea views beautiful and the setting is peaceful but you are in really easy reach of Bodrum if you enjoy a change of scene, and even Gumbet if you like more noisy bars!
The hotel needs to ensure it gives better information to guests about how to set up a tab for drinks(pay up front) and about the transport options-info in the room would be a good idea as not all of the reception staff speak English. The water taxi is fun and there is a phone at the security gate to call a cab and save the hike up the hill to the rank on the main road at the top
You can walk in to Bodrum in about 20 to 30 mins.. -nice after dinner to walk off the calories-and Bodrum is lively at any hour with nightlife to suit all tastes-loud music clubs/bars,a quiet drink by the water's edge or local Turkish singers.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and be aware there are lots of steps to most rooms as the hotel is set on the hil...

im not quite sure why there are so many bad reviews for this hotel, me and my boyfriend spent a week here in june and we wasnt sure what to expect from reading the reviews on here but we were really pleasantly surprised when we arrive. we got a lovely room and a nice balcony which had a great view of the sea (it really is worth the extra money for the view). We thought there was a good selection of food at breakfast (we only went for b&b) and the whole hotel was spotless, rooms were cleaned everyday with new towels and the pool and sea were lovely.

You should note that you have to put money on your card if you want to buy food at the bars but they just set you up a tab, you just need to make sure your aware of how much your spending.

I will admit there is quite a language barrier with the staff which can be difficult at times when you need to sort something out, but we are in turkey and we shouldnt expect everyone to speak perfect english. there are certain staff that were very good and you just need to make sure you catch them if you need anything. i can see how some people find the staff rude but i dont think they are it is just because they dont always understand what is being asked of them. the only thing i would be careful about is where you leave your case the cases were fine but we left a bag with are presents we had brought in there and whether they were taken by mistake or on purpose they were taken just before we got on our transport to leave which meant we didnt have time to sort it out with the hotel which was upsetting to leave on a sour note.

The water taxis are great way to go to bodrum and to get to gumbet it is only 10 lira to get a normal taxi there if you want a change of scene at all and gumbet is a lot cheaper than bodrum its roughly half the price. when booking trips or anything i would say go with the companies in town they are much cheaper than what your reps will offer you if you want to save money. we did the aquapark and thought it was a really good day out especially as its so hot.

overall i had a great holiday and really enjoyed the hotel, bodrum is a great place to go and would advise anyone of all ages to go. please dont be put off by the reviews it really is a great hotel, and every hotel has its good points and bad but dont let this stop you going. ultimately it depends on your own experience and personally i had a wonderful time!!

Me and a friend stayed at this hotel for a week in June. There were a few issues straight away!

First of all the AC wasn't working and it took them a whole day to sort it out. We were promised a sea view but instead got a view of a wall which was being painted on the first day of our stay, so we had to keep our net and balcony door closed so the work men couldn't see in to our room. Our balcony wasn't actually a balcony more an open space for anybody to walk through! The room itself was cleaned everyday, they were prompt with requests for toilet tissue and towels and the bathroom was a good size.

We were then offered a room a few floors higher where we were promised the AC was fine and we had a proper balcony. Well the view was of trees and nothing else so we declined their offer.

The staff at the reception were unprofessional and at times rude! The staff by the pool and restaurant were much more hospitable. The pool itself was fine, the view was lovely but there was always a cat or a dog roaming around!

Breakfast was a variety of fruits, beverages, meat slices, yoghurts, bread which I enjoyed.

This hotel isn't perfect but it's not as bad as some people say, I guess it's all down to individual experience.

PS our holiday rep ripped us off with prices for the excursions, which we found out by talking to other tourists! Probably better off by booking these things through someone else.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with a sea view and a balcony.

Stayed at Mavi for two weeks. Hated it from day one. Mostly because of the staff.
I had a major argument with the staff when they refused me to bring in a bottle of water to our room. You are not allowed to buy anything eatable or drinkable anywhere but the hotel and drinks from the minibar are extremely expensive.
Staff is incompetent, non-service minded and only a few of them speaks a little English.
The drain in our shower cabin was blocked and nasty things came from it when we showered. We asked them to fix it – and they tried without success. When we told them that water was only very slowly draining we were told that it was normal.
Only after some pressure from our travel agency they made a second attempt to fix it. Then it worked for a couple of days. When the drainage problem was back we asked them to clean it again but they didn't do anything about it. At that time there were only a few days left of out vacation so we didn't bother to do more about it.
One day we called the restaurant to order tea. Nothing happened so we called again. Still nothing happened. Third time we were told that we didn't have any credit so they could not bring us anything, but we could open a credit at the reception. WHY couldn't they have told us the first time and saved us for an hour of waiting in vain????
Finally when we checked out, we were shocked over the phone bill (which they for some strange reason trusted us with credit). They charged us 20 TL for two attempts to call a local number. Total 0 min. conversation since the phone wasn't answered.
What a contrast to last years vacation in Istanbul where everything was perfect.
