Hi, bit late writing this but i was just on trip advisor looking for my next bodrum hotel. Me and my friend stayed here last year we paid 20 quid each for a week! When i got there i was a bit taken aback at how small the room was and no balcony - but that was tour operators fault, non of these rooms have balconys, however the owner allowed us to look at all other rooms we had available we chose the first one on the right after reception it was fine! Food wasnt great but it was ok, they are fair with drinks prices, the pool is small ish but it was enough for the amount there in june, for a decent meal i would recommend curlys across the road, they also have a free pool which is immaculate, water park only about 15 minutes away if that with free transfers about £10 ticket bargain! Theres a lovely chinese on bodrum harbour cant remember name but ask at hotel and they taxi you for free! Honestly if youve been to turkey before you know the accomodation isnt what you expect for uk rating, but for gods sake for 20 quid each what more do you want!! If you want a bit better hotel, can i advise the red lion or delphi, or in gumbet l'ambiance stayed at all and all good, delphi has a spa!!! xxxx p.s hotel about 5 minute walk to town and 3 minutes to beach!! also bit of a hint if you want to dry your stuff off

Room Tip: First door on the right after reception!!!

hi to all at the kavala and apols not doing this sooner, but better late than never
last june was our third visit to the kavala, yet again we can not fault anything - the staff are always so friendly, accommodating and nothing asked for is a problem
yes a basic hotel - but gives what you need for the pennys paid - try staying in the uk for the same price?? no way, pants weather and even more pants miserable staff - these guys always have a smile and are there to help, we could all take a page from their book
meet some outstanding people who like us were there to enjoy the sunshine and the kavala is the best place to use as a base to do this
nowhere is more than a 10 minute walk - perfectly situated
the turkish nights are great value for money and if you join in you are assured a great time
we can not say any more than give this a go with an open mind and you will have a great time
always a pleasure to arrive but so sad to leave - the boss man, kubi and hussian - we are on our way back - same room please and our daughter and son in law are coming time!!!! see told you
cant wait to return

These rooms are supposed to be studio appartments with air conditioning. Suffice to sa,y the space you get is about 3 metres by 2.5 metres (honestly!) including bathroom.

The "kitchen'' is a wardrobe- yes, really- with a gubby, hard-worn sink stove and fridge inside, and a few dirty old plates. The table was basically a shelf that stuck out from the wall. Even if the equipment had been clean, which it really wasnt, there was no way we could have cooked in there, as the space was so small. We would have had to have stood on the bed to cook! I won't mention the obvious fire hazard that goes along with this. So despite having paid extra to have a studio as opposed to a hotel room, we got a small hotel room and ended up spending a fortune on meals out.

The bathroom was tiny, mouldy, and had no shower curtain so everything got soaked. The bathroom door didn't shut properly- swollen due to poor ventilation. And the air conditioning we'd been promised? Asked the reception staff- told us we'd have to pay 60 pounds to have it for 2 weeks. I know it didnt expressly say that it was included, but I feel it should state clearly that it is so much extra. If you book a hotel, you wouldnt expect to pay extra for the bed, would you? No? So it's really not unreasonable to assume that if you've booked a hotel with air conditioning, that it will not cost you extra.

The noise was unrelentless- the music from the hotel bar went at full volume until 1 or 1.30 am, not to mention the guests who streamed in out of the place, banging and shouting, all through the night. It was impossible to sleep there unless you either took sleeping pills or drank a large amount of alcohol and passed out.

On a slightly more serious note, one member of staff tried to take advantage of me when I was drunk. He was quite pushy and I really had to be quite rude to get him to leave me alone. All I can say is I'm not sure it would have been so easy to push him off if we had been in a more private area of the hotel. This was very worrying and we felt uncomfortable for the duration of our stay.

Myself and my wife have just (literally 12 hours ago) returned from Turkey and have spent 11 nights in this hotel. I'll try and break it down as fairly as i can and at the same time give some hints and tips to help you along the way!
When you book the hotel, book the bus that costs you about 9 pounds each return for the transfer as taxis out there are expensive and will cost about 80 pounds for a return. When we were being dropped off in the town on Bodrum, the minibus driver had to ask a local where the Kavala hotel was situated, not a good start! It's down a little alley way with 'locals' houses either side and not the entrance that you want to be faced with!
The blue door leads you into a nice swimming pool area and the front of the hotel. We were met by a guy named Hassan who was extremely pleasant and showed us to our room, gave us time to unpack and said he'd pour us a drink at the bar. The room was pretty awful to be fair. There were two single but queen size beds pushed together with a single sheet over both beds and a couple of towels which were clean and white! What we thought was a wardrobe was a cupboard with a microwave, a twin hob, a fridge, couple of glasses, a fork, a knife and a couple of odd bits and bats - all in pretty bad condition. The bathroom is what they call a wetroom in posh hotels, but a squaller in the Kavala! The Mrs had to pop out to the local supermarket and buy some bleach for the toilet and cif for the walls to scrub them clean before she went in there! Once back at the bar, a gorgeous drink was waiting for us (on the house). Having seen the state of the rooms, we were in agreement even without saying as much, that we weren't going to be eating in there. There seemed to be no difference between the 'self catering' style rooms and the kitchen that the hotel used as they cooked bacon and eggs and poured drinks from the same place. The reviews about the cockrel going for it every morning are a little bit OTT, they can be heard now and again, but they never woke us up once.
The hotel is about a 5 min walk from the beach and main shopping street in Bodrum and is ideally located to get to the bus station and the main market which is open on a Tuesday for clothes (loads of fake ones but cheap and cheerful) and on a Saturday its an awesome fruit and veg market which is a sight to behold!
It's not as cheap as i thought it was going to be - even though they aren't in the Euro. All the restaurants and supermarkets nor matter how small all accept the Turkish Lira, the Euro and the British Pound and all the cash machines around the city give you cash in all three currencies too.
The one thing that all of these reviews have in common is that the restaurant called Curly's is about the best bar and restaurant in the whole of Bodrum! Curly has some brilliant bar staff, Ronaldo and Ghengis being a couple of them. A swimming pool that has to be the cleanest and nicest in the town only opened this summer too. A full spectrum of sports are played on the numerous TV's too!
In short, the rooms was basic BUT the towels were changed every day, as were the bed sheets and once the room was cleaned (by the Mrs) it was ok to use without the thought of any nasties going to get us!
