20euros per head entry fee could put many people off. But kids are free and there is plenty to see and spend at least 2-3 hours in the museum and the castle.

Located in fantastic castle surroundings, the artefacts and reconstructed ships are housed imaginatively. The artefacts are mainly linked to the shipwrecks that have been recovered around the Bodrum coastal area. There are a lot of stairs, so combined with the castle allow yourself plenty of time to take in the information and views.

Really didn't expect to see how well they maintained the castle and the exhibits. They also had an option to spend 10 tl for a small device that gave a commentary about what you were looking at, but there were also many signs in both english and turkish at each exhibit. Wonderful views from the towers on all four corners of the castle.. oh yeah my wife says don't forget to tell them about the STAIRS!! There are a few and they are quite big.. right in the middle of town and we really enjoyed ourselves.

The underwater archeology moniker refers to the reconstructed shipwrecks and their cargos which are featured in the rooms and galleries of St. Peter's Castle.

Of special interest is the cargo of glass objects, housed in their own gallery. They are beautifully displayed and lit and you can walk completely around the display cases, meaning you can view the objects from all sides and angles. The colors are diffuse and diverse and the workmanship is exquisite on some of the pieces. This exhibit includes the only glass beads from the Mycean era of Crete that are dislplayed outside of Crete.

Some of the reconstructions have imaginative displays that add to the interest of the items.

It's very easy to see why an archeologist has to be a master at jigsaw puzzles!

Expect lots of walking on rough stone surfaces, lots of stairs and uneven floors. Watch your step!

Coming to Bodrum and not seeing this museum would be really a big miss. Do visit to understand the history of the area and to be able to see some unique underwater archealogy discoveries. An excellent experience
