As many others have already said, this restaurant looks like the nicest from the outside... but it's what's inside that counts. It was quite expensive and the food, although quite nice, wasn't spectacular.
The restaurant is by the sea but we opted for steak as you can't go wrong with Turkish beef.
The wine was also expensive and just the house wines were something like £18 a bottle. The Turks always chill the red wine for some reason and unbelievably the waiter accidentally topped up my red wine with the white wine! The red wine was replaced with about the same amount of red wine, but no replacement of the white wine.
I'm disappointed with myself for not doing my Tripadvisor homework beforehand.

From the street, this place looks like one of the better places along the main beach road in Bodrum. There is a great outdoor patio with views of the water. The service is pretty awful though, and the food was even worse. As soon as you sit down, they bring over a big tray with all the appetizers on it and they start asking you which ones you want. We had to ask for a menu to try and figure out what half of them were. As soon as you're done with the appetizer tray they immediately bring over the "fresh" fish tray and urge you to pick something.

The fish didn't look to appealing, so we stuck with some standard kebabs. Nothing special. We'd gotten better from street vendors. We paid 167 Lira for two people. Not very good value for such bad food.

We chose to have a meal here as it looks very nice, nicer than many of the other restaurants along the front (more professional and like they had made more effort etc) but it just goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. This was our worst meal while we were in Bodrum. As soon as we entered and were sat at our table we had a huge tray of meze plates thrust at us to choose from with no idea of prices of each dish and not much assistance from the waiter to explain what each was or how many he would recommend us having etc. When the food arrived it was tasty however. They thrusted a big tray of raw fish at us for us to choose our main course (begging the question how long had it been sat around out of refrigeration and were we going to have one of those cooked). Nothing puts you off having fish for main more than having a tray of raw fish thrust at you, so we opted for meat and they brought us a menu. I personally didn't like my sauted meat (but that could be personal taste) and my partner had lamb kebab which was fine but nothing special. We felt rushed throughout the meal and they didn't seem impressed when we turned down the tray of desserts. It stated on the menu that service charge was included in the price but when he brought our bill the waiter stated unprompted that the service charge was "tax" and that he still expected a tip! There was a nice view but there are better restaurants with the same (probably better) view.

We were very disappointed by the food at Kortan. The manager first quoted a 150TL for 2 portions of fish and then began haggling with us when we opted to order something else. You either give a fair price on the fish or you don't. That set a bad tone for dinner. We ordered a swordfish dish and kebab and the waiters scoffed at us because we did not go for the original dinner that was pitched to us. Our waiter even made a comment that the swordfish we ordered wasn't very good because it was from an aquarium! The food was just alright, we ended up leaving quite a bit of it and very expensive. Would have been happier eating a doner kebab across the street. There are plenty of places with good views - do not come to this restaurant.

After walking around downtown Bodrum for a while, we decided to try Kortan Restaurant, as it looked as the nicest of the dozen or so almost identical looking fish restaurants.

We were immediately thrown off by the pushy and weird service. We ordered drinks before our dinner. Right after drinks were served, our waiter pushed mezes on us, so we were left eating mezes with vodka tonic.

The mezes actually tasted decent, but after a few minutes of eating, our waiter pushes a huge tray of raw fish in our faces, insisting that we choose our main course while we're eating starters. He got rather short when we told him we'd rather not choose among raw fish while we were still eating starters.

Throughout the entire meal our waiter was making strange remarks, leaning in to take glasses and/or plates we hadn't finished, scooping food onto our plates without asking.

We had a broad variety of mains (both kebab meat and fish) and it was all average at best. Tasteless and bland. The high point of the meal was the grilled calamari, which was actually really good.

The price of our meal was also surprisingly high - given both the quality and service.

I would not recommend visiting Kortan Restaurant.
