Just walk and experience the ships, the shippers and folks.
Have a drink and enjoy. Unless the fact that it is very busy, being there on a ship at night you will have a good nightrest, wake up early and enjoy "the wake up"of a harbour.

Visit on Thursday market day. Less busy than many. Lovely village. One of the finest marinas ever seen. Oh for a lottery win !!

A port is a port, its large and full of Turkish boats. Nice at night when it is all lit up, nice views of the castle also. Lots of resteraunts along the front, nice but if you sacrifice view you can eat much better and cheaper in the back streets

We had 5 nights around the city, and found that we could walk easily to the shopping, restaurants, and also amongst the Gulets/boats moored. It has a huge collection of boats, sailing ships and launches of all sizes, all backed into the walkway for easy access. They are lashed all together, as the port is very busy, and sometimes there are no moorings available for the tour boats, so they have to stay out of the port. This means that guests that have finished or just starting their cruise have to be ferried (with their luggage) into/out of the harbor to embark/disembark. Only found one downfall at the Port, is if you stay in there overnight, the nightclubs (1 based on a ship) beat out an horrendous noise which goes well into the early hours of the morning, so you will find that if you are a light sleeper, you wont get much, as many of us found out.

Overall though it is a beautiful city to start/end your time in Turkey or as we did, started our 14 day cruise around the Greek Islands so would thoroughly recommend a visit and tour if you have the time.
