“Fantastic stay that lived up to high expectations”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

After reading all the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor I wondered if the hotel could possibly meet, or even exceed what I had read... it did.

We were picked up from the airport, even though our flight was an hour and a half late. The driver was fantastic, safe and clearly knew the roads very well. The car was lovely, air conned and modern.

The rooms are basic, clean and perfect. They are cleaned every morning and kept ship shape. We took two rooms, one at the front and one with a side balcony, both were ideal, and if you can get one with a balcony, the view at the front is lovely.

Breakfast was on the patio, and was delicious; fresh fruit, breads and home made jams and honey. It was a lovely chance to chat with other guests and the hosts and their team.

Whilst you are there you can either spend your time at the beautiful beach or the pool. We spent one day at the beach (about 10 mins away), using the hotels free taxi service to get there. It is stunning and has beautiful, clean water to swim in. You can also rent umbrellas and have lunch there. The ruins are also well worth a trip in their own right, we walked back one morning after Mustafa dropped us down there, and then had breakfast when we got back. The amphitheatre is brilliant. The other days we spent by the wonderful pool which is clean, and is the perfect place to spend a day or two! We also went on the boat trip which was FANTASTIC.... I would highly recommend it, the lunch was delicious and the tour was exceptional. Kalkan is a short distance away, and whilst it was nice to visit, we were much more taken with Patara.

Patara is small, but relaxed, calm and great to stroll around in the evening. If the hotel put on a BBQ whilst you are there, then make sure you attend as they are amazing. Tunahan, Gurkan and Mustafa are very attentive hosts who go out of their way to help and assist you. They provided us with a fantastic family holiday and I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone. (If you are thinking of staying in Kalkan, stay here instead!)

Room Tip: We had a room with a balcony on the front and a room on the side, also with a balcony. Both were gre...

We have been to Patara several times before and stayed at the Delfin when we were there four years ago. It's always a little daunting to see if the stay would be as good as you previously remembered, but we needn't have worried - if anything, it was even better.
We were picked up at Dalaman Airport and transferred to the hotel in quick time to be greeted like returning friends - Tunahan and Mustafa both were on hand to welcome us and make sure our bags were taken to our room (one of the family apartments).
Within ten minutes of arriving, the kids were in the pool and it seemed they were rarely out for the 10 days of our stay.
The rooms are comfortable, clean and are a great value-for-money base for a holiday in Patara (I won't wax lyrical about Patara, as this is about the hotel). As I have seen other reviewers mention, the air conditioning in each room was essential given temperatures which pushed into the low 40's (end of July). A great addition since our last stay is the bar around the pool area - which provides a good focal point for a relaxed drink and socialising at any time of the day.
The breakfast is good - a mixture of fresh fruit, bread, honey, eggs (cooked to order), home cooked marmalades and jams, coffee and fruit juice.
The Wednesday barbecue was fantastic - a huge selection of mezes in a buffet and then a choice of either chicken or swordfish, both of which were expertly cooked by owner Mustafa.
We also took advantage of the fact that Mustafa's brother runs St Nicholas Travel and went on the quad biking trip and the trip to Kekova (we had done the Xanthos, canoeing, Tlos and Saklikent trips on previous visits) - all we had to do was walk down the steps and across the road where pick ups were organised.
If you are looking for a relaxing and affordable holiday, then you ought to consider the Delfin as your hotel in Patara - the team really work hard to help you take advantage of all the area offers.

We had a great time at the Delphin. Mustafa and his team really look after you and are always friendly and helpful. The boat trip to the sunken city was one of the best days out we have ever had. We all loved the pool and the 5 o'clock afternoon tea on the terrace.

Patara is a very laid back and small village with a selection of small restaurants and a few bars that are all pretty good value.

The beach is stunning and the short trip to see the sunset across the dunes is well worth it. Would definitely go back.

The rooms are basic but all have comfortable beds with mosquito nets (although there weren't many mozzies anyway) and aircon. Rooms are cleaned daily.

Unlike a scene from Are You Being Served, we arrived for the hotel manager to chat in a very relaxed manner on his phone for 10 minutes before he could be bothered to cursorily look up to see what we wanted. This relaxed attitude ("the hotel is busy i have a lot to do") unfortunately continued for our two night stay. The pool was very busy, and the showers very unpractical - either boiling hot or freezing cold. While our experience could not overshadow the beauty of the ruins at sunset, there were much friendlier places elsewhere in town who were more than willing to help even though we werent staying there (Golden Hotel in particular - who also do amazing food).

We came back for a second visit, this time just myself and my daughter. Yet again a wonderful relaxing stay, the rooms clean and cool with essential AC. Wifi to stay in touch with the outside world that did seem a world away. The pace is relaxed but always friendly in the village, and we came away refreshed and rested. The team at the hotel were, as always, friendly but not pushy, and always helpful. Kalkan is a short cab ride (50tl from the hotel) or 6tl on the dolmus if you need a change of scene. The boat trip organised by the hotel was,as before, one of the best days of our holiday... In fact we went twice! A whole day swimming off the boat, amongst shoals of fish, passing the sunken ruins of Kekova, barbecue on the boat for lunch, ice cream in the village of Siminea (or climb the hill to view the fort, hot but worth doing once!) all for 70tl!
Thank you to all at the Delfin, I hope we'll be back again!

You feel turkish hospitality and warm welcome at your first steps in the hotel. This is a family operated hotel.Breakfast is served with fresh fruits on terrace garden in front of the hotel. The staff are very kind and helpful.Mustafa and his family(his sons Tunahan and Gokhan) are so polite and friendly. This hotel with its regular guests likes a big international family.Hotel guests meets at 5 o'clock tea and cake time everyday. We also remember St.nicholas restaurant in walking distance operated with Mustafa and his family. You can eat delicious and perfect meals at this hotel.Hotel owners also organise barbecue nights beside the pool of the hotel. After staying at this hotel you will be an aficionado of this hotel like me.We had stayed at this hotel with our 5,5 years old son for 11 nights. We had a good time and perfect rest at this hotel.I think Patara beach with its nature and historical backgrounds is unique in the world. You should see ancient lighthouse, lycian assembly building of patara. You should also taste gombe ice-cream at gombe plateau. The god of Apollon was born in Patara.Apollon stayed at delfi, greece for 6 months in summers, stayed at Patara for 6 months in winters because of sunny days of Lycia.Ancient greeks spoke about this region as lycia, but the original name of this region is lukka lands. The people lived in lukka lands were anatolian not greek.St.nicholas also was born in Patara. This whole information makes Patara one of the most important places in the world.Be ready having a good rest in historical and natural beauty.
