“Masters of Doner Kebap”
Reviewed March 11, 2014

Uludag holds an old tradition of being the best "döner" restaurant in Ankara. Quality of food is very good and you can expect to find the same standards everytime you visit them. Service is efficient and hygene standards are high. They have a few restaurants in
Ankara. I personally would recommend the one at Panora shopping center.

“If you want IskenderKebap, go to an Iskender restaurant. If you want something else, this is the wrong place”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

My wife and I love Turkey, Turkish food, Turks and Iskender Kebap. For us, any Uludag restaurant is a treat, but our favorite is the one in Ulus - which I think is the original.

When you go to an Iskender restaurant, you should expect Iskender - that's the specialty, and there is precious little else. To us Iskender is a glorious combination of tastes - thinly sliced Doner lamb meat, spread over cubes of pita bread, with tomato sauce over the top, topped with a wedge of grilled tomato, a "Russian roulette pepper" (sometimes it's sweet, and sometimes it'll take the top of your head off - take care in your first bite) and wonderful Turkish yogurt at the end of your plate. Soon after delivery, a server asks if you want more tomato sauce - the answer is yes; generally followed by another server with a sauté pan with bubbling melted butter- definitely yes - the butter seeps through, moistening and flavoring the pita bread.

You have your choice of one portion, 1-1/2 portions and sometimes 2 portions. One is generally sufficient. Salad and soup are available, if you have a big appetite.

Turkey has many delicious desserts, but in a traditional Iskender restaurant, the dessert is Kunefe - a hockey-puck-shaped dessert of shredded wheat, with a mild white cheese baked into the middle, topped with honey and grated pistachios - a very good dessert.

The other recommendation - don't order Iskender Kebap in an ordinary Turkish restaurant - it's never as good.

Afiyet Olsun!

The restaurant was on 3 floors of hotel with essentials clean rooms with little decor or ambiance and no view. This restaurant had good service but the food was extremely limited. They only had three main meals; downer kebab, meatballs and moe thing they called beef filet which was actually rump. It was adequately cooked and each dish served with the identical garnishes. 19 lira for meat balls (often) and 35 for the steak. The downer was 21 lira. The tables had tablecloths but the food didn't compete with the working mans crafters. I would not return.

“This is *NOT* for those who Drink Wine with Dinner”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

No alcohol here. None. After long drive from Ugrup and navigating the construction zone that is Ankara at the moment, this was a problem. This was possibly the closest we came to real Turkish food.

Great "Alexander" in wonderful setting and excellent service. It was my first time having this Turkish food. Dripping in butter....and then more butter was poured over it at the table. Yum!
